This course has related to my educational objectives because I hope to one day be a Physician Assistant and to obtain that degree, not only do I have to complete years as an undergraduate and graduate student, but I need to obtain the knowledge of my patient in multi-dimensions. I find that a straightforward, restricted, study has the abilities to hinder the care I could supply to a patient. Through courses, like Abnormal Psychology, I may be able to help a patient in an area of their life that they didn’t know about or that they didn’t think was not the normal.
This course has related to my own personal experiences, especially in the subject of anxiety, by informing me about disorders my friend has been suffering from for years. I was never comfortable enough to ask questions or to be the first to bring up the topic, but I always was interested in learning more other than what Google says.

I think the learning experience of this class should be more focused on applying it to day to day, and being an aspiring Physician Assistant, I hope that I retain this information and continue to build off of what I have learned so far as I continue towards that career. I don’t think that when I am in the health care field I am going to care about who discovered or named a disorder, but I am going to care about the symptoms, causes, prevention, and treatment. I find these parts of the course to be the most valuable in my learning
“Dedicated to enhancing professional and personal growth for allied health professionals, American Medical Technologists (AMT) awards the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential to qualifying individuals.
Without doubt, it is my sincere goal and longtime aspiration to pursue a career in the medical field specializing in the area of health care. From my formative years, actually, as long as I can remember, I have taken a special interest in helping and caring for people. My strong passion for the overall health and welfare of people has been the foundation of my sparked interest in the medical field. After extensive research of the wide-range of careers in the field of medicine, I have found that I am leaning to the profession of a physician assistant (PA).
I chose to take this course because I am preparing to transfer and this class meets the UC art requirement. Also this class doubles for me as my last major requirement for a second AS degree in behavior and social sciences. Although there was actually one other class (LALS 14) that I could have taken that fulfilled those requirements I picked this course because it looked like it offered something entirely different to what I have already received thus far in my educational journey. My end goal is to become a nurse one day and I want to make sure I chose classes that will expose me to different things and enable me to become well-rounded and educated
I decided to take this class because I am interested in learning the basics for the medical field. I am interested in being a pediatrician because I enjoy working with children. I look forward to helping families by curing a sickly child or completing a usual check up. No one in my family has entered the field of medicine. I chose the medical field because I feel as if I can provide help for people who need it. Although these are my interest, I am still undecided for what I what for my future and I'm hoping this class can help me make the best
Physician assistant (PA) is a career that allows an individual to work independently to treat patients. While the physician is available to reference if any questions or concerns arise about patient care issue. The position of PA is diverse, and the delegated duties may range from surgical assistant to family practice. If a PA chooses to specialize then their knowledge and training is revered to be desired by employers. The career is fast growing and beneficial as a mid-level practitioner for physicians.
The curriculum provides a solid science foundation through the foundation of medicine course that emphasizes genetics, pathophysiology, etc. However, instead of simply learning the material, I want to be able to apply it, so I am prepared for my clinical rotations. The integration into clinical concepts taught in small groups led by faculty is what distinguishes this program from other PA programs. Therefore, George Washington’s curriculum fits my learning style perfectly because when I joined small peer groups for physiology and biochemistry during my undergraduate career, I retained more information and learned how to apply it to various scenarios helping me excel on the tests. Therefore, this course provided throughout the didactic portion will allow me to apply the knowledge first through case studies, and then as a
Physician Assistants treat, examine and diagnose patients (Occupational Outlook Handbook [OOH], 2016). For instance, they can prescribe medication, treat or diagnose an injury or sickness, read and study x-rays and blood work and much more (OOH, 2016). Physician Assistants can work anywhere like, a hospital or clinic as long as their being supervised by Physician. The PA’s scope of practice is categorized into four main parts. Education, experience, state law, facility policy and the needs of the patients (American Academy of Physician Assistants [AAPA], 2016).
Before taking this course, every time someone mentioned having a cry for help could go to a psychologist for assistance. Well, she found someone who would listen to what she was going through and provide professional assistance and lately her mood has been alright at work. By taking this class, it made me more aware of how people interact and how my coworker interacts with people when she is giving a command to do something. I have noticed she is very conscious about herself and have a low self-esteem. Sometimes I want to ask her how she is doing with her eating disorder and if she is continuing get the help she
Born the youngest of eleven children, I looked up to my siblings my whole life, and as a result I acquired many of the same interests as them. Growing up I was always being drug to sporting events to watch my sibling compete, and when i was at home there was sure to be some sort of game going on, and to say things often got a little competitive would be an understatement. As a result I starting playing sports at the youngest age I could, even if I didn’t necessarily love them at first. After playing various sports for many years though, sports became a defining part of my personality and one of my favorite things to do. Through tough practices and hours training on my own I learned the values of hard work and dedication, and was also able to meet some of the people who are my very best friends to this day.
Pursuing careers blindly based only on financial gains was a major mistake that only brought unhappiness and felt hollow and unreal to me until I discovered the existence of a physician assistant (PA) profession. Various reasons led me to a career path of a PA, but the reasons that stand out the most are a patient I encountered while volunteering at a hospital, summer I shadowed and assisted PAs, and the PA students that I met.
I am writing to express my interest in the Physician Assistant Fellowship in Hospital Internal Medicine. As an upcoming graduate of the Northern Arizona Physician Assistant Program, I hope to attain an educational position to broaden my knowledge and further develop my skills as an internal medicine provider.
Physicians assistants “practice medicine on a team under the supervision of physicians and surgeons. They are formally educated to examine patients, diagnose injuries and illnesses, and provide treatment” (“What Do They Do- Physician’s Assistant”). I realized my interest in science and medicine my Sophomore year in Chemistry class, when I was found captivated copying the powerpoint notes about the different chemicals in the human body and how they all work together to get the body to function as its meant to. From solely a logical standpoint, this career would fit marvelously with my interests and what I’m passionate learning about. I’m a problem solver. I thrive when placed in situations that require critical reasoning to analyze different potential outcomes, and being a PA would call for me to utilize these skills and talents on a daily basis in the
If enrolled in the ATC Health Science Program, I desire to be knowledgeable and successful in a medical setting. After being in this course, I would love to strengthen my passion for medicine and possess a true understanding about patient care. I aspire to learn basic levels of diagnosis; learning symptoms and recognizing them in patients. Furthermore, the rotations of observing patient treatment helps set up a basic level of medical knowledge to the students. This would also increase the knowledge of a professional bedside manner, helping patients feel more comfortable in the hospital. The ATC Health Science Program would help me to become proficient in prescribing treatment after correct diagnosis. From this course I also hope to learn
Through numerous programs, opportunities, and challenging coursework, University of Pennsylvania did not just provide its students with new knowledge that they would use in the future, but also prepare them to enter their chosen profession. At University of Pennsylvania, my learning abilities will bloom as a bud turning into a bright flower. I believe that it is important for a student to be prepare not just in the aspect of education and information but also hands-on experience. The Pre-Health Core Studies Program does just that. The program make sure that those who have immense passion in any health profession, regardless of their previous exposure to any science coursework, has their own individual course that link to their background. As freshman in High School my eyes were wide at all the possibilities that were laid in front of me in a new building with so many new people. I tried my hand at everything, from sports to art and from leadership roles to group work and everything in between. While I enjoyed playing sports and expressing myself creatively, those were just outlets, not what I was truly passionate about. In high school I found niche, my passion; learning and the sciences. It's what I am good at and it's what I love. I've taken so many classes in High School, but the ones that have interested me the most were Anatomy, Biology, Psychology, and Sociology. I have been very passionate about learning why people do what they do. In life and in education I always find myself wondering and asking “why”. To blame it on my curiosity would be reasonable but I don't plan on stopping my asking without a sufficient answer. This is why I will finish my schooling to become a Physician's Assistant focused in psychology. To learn to answer my own questions about the complex human mind and help people answer their's is my goal. However, with my always wondering personality, the occupation of Physician's Assistant suits me well. If I become
