Pierre Trudeau's Accomplishments

Pierre Elliot Trudeau was the fifteenth prime minister of Canada. He had many accomplishments that benefited all of Canada which include the official language act of Canada where he made French and English the official languages, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom, and the liberalization of laws on abortion, homosexuality and the legalization of lotteries. These are only a few of the many accomplishments that Pierre Trudeau achieved for Canada while his position in Parliament that was important.

Pierre Elliott Trudeau was a remarkable man who has made a significant impact in the Canadian society. Trudeau was voted to be the fifteenth Prime Minister of Canada from April 20, 1968 to June 4, 1979. Trudeau has put a lot of effort into making Canada a better place and he was truly passionate. His actions spoke louder than words and he proved to a lot of Canadians how he was the best Prime Minister of the Post- war Era in a lot of people’s eyes. “Help those who cannot help themselves” was William Lyon Mackenzie King’s life motto as a child. William Lyon Mackenzie, better known as Mackenzie King was the 10th Prime Minister of Canada. Mackenzie was the leader of the liberal party and is currently Canada’s longest serving Prime Minister at 22 years. In this essay I will argue why I believe Mackenzie King should be the next Prime Minister of Canada. I believe William Lyon Mackenzie King should be the next Prime Minister of Canada due to his lengthy leadership experiences, his high degree of intelligence and how he was able to define Canadian Independence.

Pierre Elliot Trudeau was arguably one of the most vivacious and charismatic Prime Ministers Canada has ever seen. He wore capes, dated celebrities and always wore a red rose boutonniere. He looked like a superhero, and often acted like one too. Lester Bowles Pearson left the most outstanding and beneficial legacy on Canada. He was our Canadian Prime Minister from April 22, 1963 to April 20, 1968. Pearson helped make us grow as a country and brought us together as a nation. Pearson is the reason that Canada has its outstanding flag and the reason that Canadians have pension plans. Just a few of the important things he did to make Canada an amazing country were; putting universal Medicare into effect, passing the Royal Commission on Bilingualism and Biculturalism, and he helped bring the Canadian and American Auto Pact into play. These are just a few of the lasting legacies that Lester Boweles Pearson left on our beautiful home country.

Jean Chretien was a responsible prime minister and had accomplished a lot. He brought in a wealth of political experience. Jean was first elected to the house of commons in 1963 and then by 1980 he had every major portfolio. In 1990 he won the leadership of the Liberal Party.

Every nation had a beginning, but what it is today is due to the contribution from many multicultural individuals. They had all helped Canada become a developed nation but Prime Minister John G. Diefenbaker was one of the most important. He started to change Canada with one of his first policies the Canadian Bill of Rights. During the campaigning process in 2015, many Canadians and non-Canadians had different views on Justin Trudeau.
