About a month ago while scrolling through Pinterest, a pin caught my eye. To be honest I admit quite a few pins catch my eye. My daughter, Christy, thought Pinterest would be a good fit for me and it was. I was soon smitten. Obsessing over Pinterest, I spent hours scrolling and pinning, scrolling and pinning, day after day, month after month, thoroughly getting a kick out of my new-found passion. With cute titles like ‘Color Splash’, ‘Organizing My Life’, ‘My Container Obsession’ and ‘Craft Club Groupie’ I pinned like crazy. Starting with a few boards, I look for ideas fitting a board until abruptly something new catches my eye and another board is created and then another board and another and well, you get the picture. Maybe you even identify with me on this issue. Convincing myself I need every single one of my boards, I wonder how many I have. Counting to …show more content…
No, no, no…what would I say? Leaving this alone, my unaware part of my brain is working overtime. A few days later thoughts work their way to the surface, and I think, “You could write a blog. You have a lot of wisdom and crap you can convey to the world.” Who will read it I argue but with a procedure and two surgeries in 2018, who cares. What else am I going to do? So, what can I say? How about my Christmas Cookies and the horrible ones I gorge on Christmas? My recipe is better than any I have ever eaten. Okay, what else? My cookies and other recipes, crafts/my craft room, travel, genealogy, musings, the beach, collecting things, and I stare at thirty-five topics with multiple articles for each. Now for a name and ‘Timeless’ is born. The sage in me will say what’s on my mind. Researching blogs and wondering if I’m standing on the Titanic, leads me to valuable information about how to get followers. Another article says I must clean up my Pinterest board to draw followers who will read my wisdom and wit. Clean up my Pinterest Boards? You must be
The social media platform that I will be using is Pinterest. My username will be a variation of my name because I want my Pinterest to be personal and reflect my life as a student; therefore, I will not use anonymity. As I signed up, I noticed that pinterest has the option to sign in with either a Google Plus or Facebook account in addition to using your email and creating a password. This shows me that many people who sign up use their real persona and name and most likely are not using the website anonymously.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” This quote from Nelson Mandela always clicked with me, because while many things can change the world, education is always at the root of it. The Ottawa County Early College program is an opportunity for me to practice with this essential tool. I feel that I am a good fit for the program because I have passion for my studies, am proactive in them, and I flourish under challenge. This amazing program excites me because it will help me to achieve my overall goal for my education; to positively impact the world. While I have many different ideas with what I want to do with my education, Early College will allow me to explore many different paths within a budget I
A NFL player who has had a great career, multiple Super Bowl rings, he’s a millionaire. You could say he has a pretty damn good life. He has a beautiful wife, great kids, a loving family. But in his game he has suffered a torn ACL. He has to undergo a pretty hefty surgery. But after the surgery he has an enormous amount of pain and the doctor’s gave him oxycodone. He starts off with a small doses. The player starts to get used to that small amount of pain pills. Slowly throughout time he needs more and more to feel the effects of them because his body’s tolerance for them is getting higher and higher. The doctor takes them away since he doesn’t need them anymore. But since he was taking multiple a day for
Freshman 101 is a class adapted from the parrot program (Fay & Medway, 2006, p. 226). The parrot program was designed for college students at Cornell University. Freshman 101 is the first of its kind in the state of South Carolina and the first to extend Parrot’s college program to high school freshmen (p. 226). Each two-hour intervention class contained 25 to 30 freshmen students. The objectives of the class were to have participants understand the definition of acquaintance rape and the frequency that it takes place along with South Carolina’s laws regarding rape (p. 226). Students also learned about mixed messages associated with verbal and non-verbal communication and how to clearly state their wants and desires (p. 227). Communication,
Sharing on Pinterest means creating boards that will be of interest to others. If you're purely promotional all the time, people will stop following your boards. There are group boards you can join if you are sharing interesting knowledge in your niche.
In ancient times there was always a main focus or theme to art that was created. Majority of the time this focus was on religion. Religion has inspired many artists to create great paintings, sculpture, and architecture. In this paper, I will focus mainly on religious architecture, beginning with Greece, reflecting on Rome, traveling to Tunisia, and ending in India. Though the structures being covered are different in religion and time period, they all have one thing in common, they are spaces that create a spiritual experience for an individual.
In it I have poems, short stories, doodles and my observations. Observations you may ask? My observations is when I focus on people and just watch them and notice their habits, actions, movements. Is it creepy? Well you might think so, I thought the same thing when I first started to do it.
I wish I could see “Goofy” again! Goofy was my old best friend about 3 years ago. He and I were like Batman and Super Woman. Goofy was his nickname and we called him goofy simply because of his facial features that resembled those of the cartoon character “Goofy.” His actual name was Robert, but he will always be know as Goofy to me. Goofy was the type of kid who you would look in his eyes and see no type of hope for the future. Goofy and I were raised under the same circumstances but he chose another path to take. Goofy and I were made and molded by the struggle around us but instead of seeing such demising circumstances and choosing to try to make it out, Goofy chose to embrace the struggle as his only path in life. I would always look into
The Origin of the word “Swag” Swag. What is it? All the teenagers and hip twentysomethings want it, but no one really has a perfect idea of what it actually is. By now, only the most out-of-touch citizens have never heard the term. They are the ones who do not possess “swag”.
I have chosen five pictures. The first is of three girls. The bottom one is me, the one on top of me is Kaialani, and the one on top of her is Kyla. Kaialani and Kyla are my sisters. I chose to put them in my collage because they have helped shape my personality in every way possible. Those two girls are very, very, very important people in my life.
Looking at using Pinterest for inspiration, you wonder if it's right for you. So, let's see if we can't answer that question, shall we?
Do we not hate when we have to ask another other person for a writing utensil? “Excuse me, do you have a writing utensil I can borrow?” It is a feeling no one likes, but a question that is always asked. However, the question, ‘what is in the writing utensil that I used today? is not a question that is so frequently asked, but it should be. Sharpie is a perfect example of a ink pen that is composed of many different chemicals. If you are going to consistently use something throughout your life, would you not want to know what was in the item you were using?
I was in my room when my mom said “after you finish your lessons in school we can go shopping at Forever 21”. So I did all my school work then we took a ride to Bremerton. First we went to Bath and Body Works, we both got body spray and my mom got lotion. After that we went to H & M and I got a green bomber coat and a couple of shirts. We went to check out and my mom asked the lady if she knew where we could find Forever 21. She gave us the directions so we went off to find it.
I think I should get a ‘C’ grade for being a leader at Showalter. I deserve a C because I don’t help students become better or influence them. I am usually the follower or the quiet person in the back. For example, when I saw students doing something they aren’t suppose to do. I typically just watch or ignore them. I would do nothing to stop them. However, I can show some ‘skills’ but not something that would get easily noticed. Simply by showing support to my classmates or teammates like saying encouraging words when they messed up or nervous. I somewhat stepped out of my comfort zone rarely. For example in volleyball, I went to this girl and talked to be friends or at least to know her name. That may seem really easy and simple but usually
In the area once famous for being home to Count Dracula, that we call Transylvania, at remote village named Sapanta lies a graveyard that has attracted worldwide attention. The reason for this is simply the fact that the people here do not lay lost loved ones to rest in any sombre fashion as one might expect but more as a celebration of their lives.
