Poverty in Nigeria
Nigeria is one of the leading oil producing countries in the world. It makes billions of dollars annually, yet the majority of the population lives in poverty. With around 70% of its people living with this problem it is also one of the poorest countries in the world ( Nigeria 's economy dominated by oil ). One of the major contributors to this problem is government. Because the country is well known for its lack of leadership the money made through oil trade is kept by rich benefactors, and the poor are left with nothing. Another major problem that is increasing poverty is Nigeria's population. The amount of people being born is far exceeding the amount of jobs available for them. Due to these two factors the level

People steal what they can't afford and fight over what they can. By doing this people are injured in the process and many die. Also disease is another major issue that relates to the problem. Because there is no money going to heath care, and the majority of the population cannot afford education, knowledge and materials needed to battle sickness are not available. Without these needs epidemics spread through villages and nothing can be done to stop them. In return the lifestyles of the poor are going down while the amounts of people who fall into poverty are increasing. If something isn't done soon to prevent these issues then the problems are only going to spread and the margins between rich and poor will increase.
Another major issue that is increasing the amount of poverty in the country is population. Because the job market is almost totally dependant on agriculture the amount of jobs that are available cannot increase to fit the demands of the public. This is a problem for the youth who are old enough to work but cannot find a job. Some of the countries politicians have taken advantage of this by creating an alternate form of work for these individuals. To support these poverty stricken children they offer becoming part of a makeshift mob that they pay with minimal amounts of money. The mob is then used to aid the politicians in whatever ways they feel fit. This is why the poverty epidemic is
Everyone knows what the word poverty means. It means poor, unable to buy the necessities to survive in today's world. We do not realize how easy it is for a person to fall into poverty: A lost job, a sudden illness, a death in the family or the endless cycle of being born into poverty and not knowing how to overcome it. There are so many children in poverty and a family's structure can effect the outcome. Most of the people who are at the poverty level need some type of help to overcome the obstacles. There are mane issues that deal with poverty and many things that can be done to stop it.
Poverty has been a consistent problem throughout history. No matter what the income, unemployment or overall prosperity level is, there will always be people who are homeless and hungry. Some of the main reasons poverty is a consistent problem is because of poor economy, lack of affordable housing ,lack of education, medical expenses and drug use.
More than 800 million people in the world are malnourished, 777 million of them are from the developing world (Raphel, S., 2014). Poverty is an issue that must be addressed to the population loud and clear or everyone will end up suffering. There are many families trying to survive and live from paycheck to paycheck. Unfortunately, there are some families that are unable to support himself or herself or any family member. One important key issue of poverty in the United States is inequality. Many Americans blame the poor people for their own fate but you should never judge a book by its cover. There can be many reasons why an individual or families end up in poverty. For example, low wage jobs, discrimination and social inequality, vulnerability to natural disasters, war and political instability. Another big issue we face today is child poverty. This is a very critical issue because these young children are our future. If we let these children live in poverty, there is a higher chance they will drop out of school, look for work in order to support their family, or give up in life.
Poverty has lots of negative impacts on society and human lives. Poverty(it) can create psychiatric disorder, increase crime rate and decrease level of safety in societies. Although, some people blame poor people because of their defective characteristics and tend to believe that it is individuals’ responsibility to solve their problems such as poverty, I strongly believe that it is one of the most important government’s responsibilities to bring an economic equality to the society and overcome the poverty problem. Actually, poverty was created by the governments in the first place so it is their responsibilities to solve this issue by alternating the economic condition. Bolaria and Wotherspoon (2000) in the article “Income Inequality, Poverty
There are many issues related to the cause of poverty; such as economics, overpopulation, lack of an
Poverty can come from war, inequality, and bad government policy. Poverty is having little or no money and not having the right necessities. Nearly half of the world lives in poverty, and eighty percent of the population lives under 10 dollars a day. The Democratic Republic of Congo has been in poverty ever since 1997. This is because the Militia owns the Coltan mines. The Militia takes the Coltan for themselves and sells it to big companies like Apple, Samsung, and Dell. On the other hand, the miners only get ten to fifteen dollars a week, and some miners only make a dollar a day. To make the DRC better for its citizens, the government needs to take over the mines and pay the miners fair wages, that will help the poverty problem and the global economy.
There are many causes and effects that come from just poverty; some which we can control and others that control us.
Although many people do not realize this, poverty has a great impact on out society. The rapid increase of death rate, crime rate, and environmental destruction have everything to do with the horrible state of poverty. These problems are booming all over our society today causing many speculations, but the reason many just be clear and simple. Poverty.

Thousands of individuals are living in poverty. Why is it that this worldwide dilemma is still rising in rapid numbers till this day? Is it because of a lack of authoritative power, or a lack of one’s self control to do good? Despite the unknown cause, it has managed to drastically affect the lives of many. Poverty is like a curse, one that is wrongfully placed, difficult to get out of, and resistant to many forms of help.
Most children in the Niger delta have little or no education, due to lack of funds from their parents who have lost their lands and have no jobs because of limited opportunities. The Niger delta government and the oil companies have refused to look into the situation; instead they favor their close relations neglecting the masses. Corruption in the Niger delta has led some youths in taking drastic measure in order to put food on their table. For example, Ikechukwu Efe an indigene of the Niger delta said that some of his friends created their own “oil refinery”, which is made up of crude oil in metal barrels with controlled heat from fire woods. This is a dangerous process in refining crude oil but the degree of poverty in the state left his friends with no choice. If only the government of the Niger delta have created jobs with the wealth of the state Ikechukwu’s friend would not have to put their lives in danger. Until corruption is put to an abrupt the people of the Niger delta will continue to live in poverty.
