Your car donation to the Military Order of The Purple Heart Foundation contributes to helping the causes of veterans, their dependents or heirs. An organization chartered by Congress, the Order has been helping war veterans and their beneficiaries in the last 70 years in so many ways. It has also been representing and lobbying the causes and interests of war veterans in government and in congress.
The Purple Heart Foundation raises funds for the service, welfare and rehabilitation not only of its members (mostly war veterans that have been awarded the Purple Heart medal) but also of those qualified non-members or any wounded, disabled or handicapped US veteran, his dependents, widow and orphans. Your Purple Heart car donation will be part
Ever since I can remember, I have had the intense desire to help people. In high school, I joined Kiwanis Key Club and National Honors Society; both organizations allowed me to gain hours of volunteer experience helping families in need within my own community. Both organizations have annual events to benefit our community. At Christmas, Key Club adopts a few families and we buy clothing and toys for the kids. Our efforts to make the holidays a more enjoyable time for the families removed the parents’ burden of having to worry about being able to pay bills after getting presents for their children. Also, National Honors Society holds a blood drive every year in coalition with the American Red Cross. Last year our blood drive was in honor of a little girl in our community with leukemia.
Today we are in great need of a solution to solve the problem of the shortage of human organs available for transplant. The website for Donate Life America estimates that in the United States over 100 people per day are added to the current list of over 100,000 men, women, and children that are waiting for life-saving transplants. Sadly enough, approximately 18 people a day on that list die just because they cannot outlive the wait for the organ that they so desperately need to survive. James Burdick, director of the Division of Transplantation for the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services confirms, “The need for organ transplants continues to grow and this demand continues to outpace the supply of transplantable organs”. The

The National Honor Society has gave me the opportunity to help others in ways that I could not have done on my own. I have had the opportunity to help many in our community with our multiple different community service projects. Last year we sold raffle tickets for a gift card basket. All of the money that we earned went to a family in our community who had been through devastating house fire. They lost not only there house but all of their personal belongings too. The fact that we have the opportunity to help those around us makes the service projects seem even more meaningful. We also took up donations of paper products to give to the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House is a place where families can stay while they have a child at the Ruby Memorial Hospital. They can stay there for as long as
The Iowa Donor Network (IDN) is near and dear to my heart because when my brother died at fourteen his organs were donated and have helped so many people. One lady named Robin who was a critical diabetic got my brother’s kidney and pancreas. An adoption agency would not let Robin adopt any babies because of her condition. However, there were two babies that were highly addicted to crack cocaine that had been sexually and physically abused. Nobody wanted them, but Robin did. After Robin received my brother’s transplant she was able to give these children a life that no one else would give them. This has taught me how important being an organ donor can be. Not only am I an organ donor on my license, but through advertising with the IDN, I am
Unpaid receivers of organ donations run DATPA, and they match donors with patients. Once the donation has taken place, the government gives the donor health insurance and monetary compensation. Often, the donor’s family (or a charitable organization if the donor is poor) also gives the donor money. (Ghods & Savaj, 2006)
Any blood donated helps patients at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and at Brigham and Women's Hospital. On Tuesday, Dana Farber said it was below their one-day inventory supply.
The Charitable license plate initiative was started with the intentions of creating a constant revenue stream for the MAR Chartiable Foundation in its effort to provide relief to those experiencing housing and homelessness related issues. Once produced, the MAR Charitable License Plate will give the Foundation the ability to disburse several additional grants for each 100 plates printed.
How do you feel when you have to wait for something that you really, really want? What if it was something you couldn’t live without? Imagine you are lying in a hospital bed and you have no choice but to impatiently wait for that one organ you and your body are depending on to survive. Many people face this struggle every day. These people are waiting on a list for their perfect match… the perfect person to be their organ donor. An organ donor is a person who has an organ, or several organs, removed in ordered to be transplanted into another person.
Every two hours someone dies waiting for an organ transplant. 18 people will die each day waiting for an organ. One organ donor can save up to 8 lives. . THE NEED IS REAL
In a world where life expectancy has increased tremendously over the last century because of new technology and medical procedures, we find humanity ever pushing the boundaries on what it can do to prevent loss of life where possible. One example is the area of organ donation and transplantation. However, unlike many other technologies or procedures which can be built, manufactured, or learned, organ transplantation requires one thing that we can’t create yet: an organ itself. Because our increased life span causes more people to require a replacement organ when theirs starts to fail, the demand has far outrun the supply and the future only looks to get worse. “Between the years 1988 and 2006 the number of transplants doubled, but the
Shield yourself from future liabilities that could come about because of your car donation. There are some pitiful instances of individuals making an auto gift and afterward being held at risk when that auto was later in a mischance. Ensure that the title is exchanged legitimately to the philanthropy. Check with your state's Department of Motor Vehicles about how to do this appropriately. Never leave a clear space on the title for another person to fill in. Try not to leave the possession space on the philanthropy auto gift papers clear. In the event that the philanthropy requests that you do that, discover another
Organ donation is a sacrifice that can touch many people through one person’s unselfish gift. Granted that gift most often comes after a tragic loss of a loved one. As the bearer of three functioning kidneys, I have always considered organ donation to be the expected norm. But today, the focus will be to enlighten you on the reasons to consider organ donation. Organ donations are needed for every age group, race, and ethnic groups. Each person should take the opportunity to extend the gift of life to another individual through organ donation.
Organ transplantation is a medical act which involves the surgical operating by transferring or removing of an organ from one person to the other, or placing the organ of a donor into the body of a recipient for the replacement of the recipients damaged or failed organ which resulted from impairment of normal physiological function affecting part or all of an organism or an act that causes someone to receive physical damage.
Flashback to when you were sixteen years old. Young, naive, and about to be ruling the streets with your very own Driver’s License. You passed your written and physical driving exams, but before you are able to get your “right of passage”, you must indicate whether or not you are willing to donate your organs in the case of your death. But how does one know which box to check? It is your responsibility to educate yourself in the matter because ignorance is not always bliss. Knowing the costs, benefits, and process can be very beneficial. Luckily, the following is some basic, and maybe not so basic, information on the topic. Organ Donation is a very broad and complicated topic. To consider organ, and tissue, donation as a whole, it is important to examine the history, forms, and big picture of the donation.
