Batoul Labban Professor Gill 9 December 2015 Final Exam Assignment Part A: 1. I believe that every Greek god has their own way of being significant. But I also believe that one Greek god does stand out. I think that the most significant Greek God that we have read about is Zeus. Zeus was known to be the as the King of all Gods in mythology. Since we covered most of the Greek gods and goddesses I read so much descriptions about Zeus that honestly point him out as to being the most significant. In the eyes of many people Zeus (Roman name is Jupiter) was portrayed as the king who basically oversaw the whole universe. He was the brother of Poseidon (who was the God of the sea) and Hades (who was the God of the underworld). Even though both Poseidon and Hades were powerful, Zeus was even more powerful. Like I have mentioned before Zeus was often referred to as the “Father of God and Men”. He literally was the father of the majority of Gods because of his sexual activities with many of the female goddesses. Zeus controlled the lighting and thunder. He usually used the lighting as a weapon. He was the king of the famous Mount Olympus. Mount Olympus was basically the home of many different Greek Gods that were mentioned over the course. Because he was so powerful and so significant he assigned the positions to many different gods. For example he gave Aphrodite the position as being the Goddess of love and gave Apollo the position of being the God of the sun. Aphrodite and Apollo
The Greek Society believes in many Gods. The first one that I will talk about is Zeus. Zeus is The God of The Sky, Thunder, Lightning, and Justice. Zeus made sure that justice was always served. So he made sure that there was justice everywhere. And if someone was doing wrong he would punish them deeply.
A polytheistic Greek religion is surrounded by numerous gods. Each represented a certain aspect of human problems including abstract ideas, such as justice and wisdom. This was the religion most devout Greeks followed and believed in. The most important gods were Olympian gods led by Zeus. These gods were: Athena, Apollo, Poseidon, Hermes, Hera, Aphrodite, Demeter, Ares, Artemis, Hades, Hephaistos,
Main god Zeus had power, he was the strongest of all gods. He showed greeks he could influence them by showing them how much power he had. People would not disobey Zeus and if they did they would be Punished. Zeus had so much power, he overthrown his father cronos. By doing that he showed how much power he had to the people. When Zeus would Punish other gods it showed he had the power to do that.If any of the gods did something
The Greek gods were thought of as the most powerful forces to ever exist in ancient times. In turn, they played a pivotal role in the Greek people’s lives. Their power and influence over the Greek people is evident in many of the stories in Greek literature. Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades, the most powerful Greek gods, each played a part in the story of Antigone by Sophocles.
As Hephaestus is notified of Thetis’ arrival, he explores what their relationship has meant to him. Hephaestus recalls that “Thetis saved my life when the mortal pain came on me after my great fall…” (P. 480) After Hephaestus falls out of Zeus’ good graces, Thetis is able to lend her helping hand, displaying the hierarchical dynamic between the gods. The gods are indebted to each other, the likely reason that Hephaestus felt as though he needed to make Thetis the ornate shield. The duty and obligation to each other fuels the mutualistic relationships between the gods. Thetis’ motivation to help Hephaestus was not solely out of kindness; rather Thetis saw the opportunity to make a strategic move and put Hephaestus in her debt, knowing that she very well could use his services in her future. Hephaestus describes the pain that he felt as “mortal pain” signifying a distinction between the discomforts and vulnerability of mortals and gods.
In this paragraph will be information on Greek Gods and Goddesses. There was a governing body for the Grecians. This mythological group was very important. They were usually the reason for war and many believed that they were so superior that they would bring disease and death upon others that they dislike or the people that would try to out shine them. They were called The Olympians. There were twelve Olympians, however before I name them there actually were 13, but Hestia gave up her position for Dionysus. There was Zeus, Poseidon, Hermes, Hephatus, Hera, Demeter, Aphrodite, Athena, Artimes, Dionysus, Aries (Ares or Aris), and Apollo.” (Greek Gods and Goddesses) There was one other God that is also very important to the Olympians. His name was Hades and he was the God of the Dead. He was not considered an Olympian though because he was always to be in the Underworld. Hades had one day decided that he wanted a partner however

Zeus, his name is synonymous with Greek mythology and religion. God of the weather and sky he used his powers of wind, lightning, and thunder to uphold the law and keep order. He ruled Mount Olympus as well as the pantheon of gods who lived there. Watching over mankind he would punish those who defied him and help those who were wronged. However, Zeus did have his flaws. His quick tempered nature combined with his lust for women made him relatable to the common man. From his coming to power until the beginning of Christianity, this complex god would have no equal.
Zeus: He is the king of all gods and goddesses, ruler of Mount Olympus. Zeus is the god of sky and thunder. His symbols would be the thunderbolt, Eagle, Bull, and the Oak tree. In relation to the other gods and goddesses Poseidon and Hades are known as his brothers and Hera is known as his sister and his wife. Cronus and Rhea were the parents of Zeus. His father wanted to swallow him like the rest of his older siblings because Cronus was afraid of his children gaining more power than him. Before Cronus had a chance to swallow Zeus, Rhea took him to Mount Crete. When Zeus got older he caused his father to throw up his brothers and sisters and together they destroyed Cronus.

Zeus was the Greek king of gods and was very important in Greek Mythology. His powers are to control the weather and thunder. His family consisted of Cronos, Rhea, and many brothers and sisters. In the Greek pantheon he was the top dog and everyone answered to him. He did many things that were not Christ like. He was not a real god. So that being said, Zeus could not have been king of gods because there is only one true God.
