Every day an extensive amount of people have to face hatred and bullying. Huge conflicts occur and lives are lost. The issue that plays a significant part in all of this is racism. It affects individuals and communities in every corner of the world.

Racism is a major issue since the colonial era and the slavery era. Heavy burden of racism in the country have fallen upon African Americans. Racism was a huge influence on the Youngster’s family in A Raisin in the Sun, written by Lorraine Hansberry. The Younger’s represent a typical African American family living in the 1950’s trying to survive in the ghetto’s south side of Chicago. This family was filled with dreams, and had a vision to progress, but there was obstacles that were interfering with the younger’s aspiration to move up the social ladder. The issues of segregation, discrimination in employment, and housing sheds light on the suffering that the Youngers faced causing their dreams to be deferred.

Racism has been a terrible problem in American society for hundreds of years. Racism issues are not limited to one specific race, but include all races. It is the responsibility of the people of this nation to address racism and learn to accept and embrace each other for our differences, and allow this great nation to become even more united for our sake and the sake of future generations. To eliminate racism it is imperative to know first, where racism started and how it has developed, why it continues to be present in our nation today, and what we must do as a people to overcome this major problem.

Explanations that justify the use of racism directly relates to differential treatment of minority groups and contributes to racism’s existence as an unstoppable social problem. The foundations of these explanations are based on the common misunderstanding of the definition of race. Thus, problems that tend to concentrate in one race are mistakenly judged as “race problems”. This judgement leads to the establishment of a system of inequality between a superior race and inferior races. However, the logic behind these explanations don’t account for the true reasoning behind minority individuals value status. In fact, these explanations contribute to minority individuals’ further struggle in life.

Many Americans say racism is a big problem, according to CNN. Racism is one of the World’s biggest issues today. There are a number of people who are racists and spreading racism around the world. There are also many people who are actually facing racism in this world. Racism is bad as it was before and it is still here in many people. Definitely, no one born racist, but his/her surroundings or cultures or environment make them racist person. There are plenty of people in America who are facing racism. While racism still a big problem in the United States, it can be decreased or reduced by making changes in the community, supporting or attending different cultures and learning about cultures.

Racism has been a big problem in the United States.“Racism Really” I chose this title because I wanted to know more about racism. Such as, what happened during the Ferguson destruction, and why is that so many white cops shoot at innocent men, and how long has this been going on. The ‘really” part is about why would you really want to do this. Do you know you can go to jail or police can get fired for harming innocent people. What do white cops have against black men? Coates and Morrison (2011) suggests that what we distinguish as real and true may not always be real and that things may not always be as it seems. Coates and Morrison (2011) also states that we live in a racial matrix, where we have this illusion of reality and that differences associated with racial status and hierarchies are perceived as the norm in society and this perception of reality is not easy to get rid of. Racism can be explicit, but it can also be very subtle and covert, which is a huge problem, as most people do not even notice it and they do not realize that it happens on a day-to-day basis (Coates and Morrison, 2011). In our time, the theme of racism is very urgent, as the cases of conflicts based on ethnic hatred have become more and more frequent in educational establishments, workforces, or anywhere else where social life is happening all around the world.

Even though it is not as obvious, but racism and discrimination is still an issue in our society and sadly it still exists. The past is never forgotten, and somehow history always repeats itself. That being said, I disagree with the statement. My opinion is that no matter how hard someone tries to think that racism and discrimination is not a problem in our society anymore, is just a myth. There are always issues on this topic that comes up through social media and even on TV every now and then, especially between a person and an authority figure of a difference race.
