Little is known about Thomas Jefferson. People tend to overlook the basic ideals and belief systems of Jefferson and only focus on his few successes. The question of who was Thomas Jefferson cannot be answered with a simple response due to his immense political influence at home and abroad. Jefferson has accomplished many things in his life, but he is most commonly known as being America’s third president and being the author of the Declaration of Independence. When diving deeper, one can discover all the background reasons underlying Jefferson’s presidency and his underlying goals. Thomas Jefferson was a very interesting man to discuss, whether it be his foreign affairs policy, doubling the size of the U.S. with one signature, his stance on slavery, or any of the many other things he accomplished during his life. Thomas Jefferson’s version of federalism died along with the confederate states. Once their ideals changed, his beliefs were forgotten. Jefferson was a very influential politician from Virginia, where he also ran several large plantations. He came from a very wealthy background, which contributed to his habits and the way he did things. Thomas Jefferson was a very unique character who had specific methods for every task he was involved in. Upon entering the White House, Jefferson was a widower who did everything on his own.
