William plays his guitar and his girlfriend, Tiffany sits next to him leaning her head on his shoulder as she studies for her Geometry test. The sound carries and echoes through Mamiya. We may be on different sides of the building, but the memories of being on the same side linger. As people grow older and become romantically involved with others, they start to change their habits and don't pay attention to their old friends. Sometimes the old friend must accept that others have changed and move on to be happy.
Before William met Tiffany, I felt that the relationship between William and me was perfect. Every morning, we would come to class together and sit in the corner. Will and I would sit next to each other every morning at the start of class. We sat right next to the teacher by the whiteboard. We would always share our writing challenges with each other. One can be surrounded by people but still be hurt by the memories they had with someone else. I finally admitted to myself that I was lonely. I started to recognize what had changed about me and who I'd become. I texted Will to come and meet me at the school cafeteria without Tiffany. On the day of our meeting, he showed up several minutes late. When Will sat down, I noticed his new group of friends standing outside and the new clothes he wore.
