The natural environment has been a subject matter that has prevailed for many years and is often symbolised within the appearance in artworks. For instance, both humans and animals are illustrated in cave paintings, which originated hundreds of years ago. Despite this, the historic way of living was shifted away by the western society, who embarked on developing science and discovery. Due to this, the western civilians began to forgo the natural way of living. The long for development of science and discovery meant that there would be repercussions. These repercussions evolved into what is publicly known as the romantic movement. This occurred from the year of 1800 to 1850. Artists in this specific period of time began to notice and eventually
Enviropigs were produced to reduce the amount of pollutant waist, hog farms could raise significantly more hogs, and help meet environmental regulations. One of the reasons why the enviropig fail, was the lack of investment in continuing to study enviropigs and the company wanted to put more money towards other efficiencies in meat production. People were also very afraid to eat them, with fears the long term effects on their health. The enviropigs were also never tested for its effects on human allergies, since this type of food was never in there diets before. The best way to decrease environments impacts, is to decrease the amount of meat that is consumed.
The romantic movement occurred in the 1800 and 1900’s. There may be some confusion or disagreement on an exact definition but the overall movement focused on the individual more than society, an individual’s imagination and feelings (Romanticism), and ideal perspective on nature, conflict between good and evil and some would include the element of the supernatural (Dincer 218).
The Romantic Movement began to develop and grow in Western Europe from 1760 and concluded in the late 1860s. Although they may have own specific national ideas of Romanticism, many of the European nations had similar philosophies that can be traced back to the main tenets of Romantic Movement. The political and social revolutions of this period became an inspiration for many of the artists and intellects that wanted to seek new ways to view the world. Romanticism was a
Romanticism was an art movement that developed in the late eighteenth century and lasted for about one hundred years. Romanticism is a rejection of the traditional values of reason, order, and objectivity that characterized Classicism and Enlightenment, in particular Neoclassicism. For the romantic artist, Neoclassical principles hindered the artist’s vision and creativity. Rather, the romantic artist emphasized and valued intuition, juxtaposing emotions, and imagination. Generally, Britain and Germany were seen at the forefront of romanticism. The British Industrial Revolution initiated a disillusionment in rationalism and materialism, consequently rejecting classicism.
Romanticism was a response towards the industrial revolution. The movement rejected the idea of reason that gripped the educational masses of earlier 18th century Europe. Romaticism idolized the unknown and the idea of personification. As romanticism started to dwindle in the mid 1800’s innovative ideas formed. The new movements that evolved from Romanticism are Nationalism, Liberalism, and Conservatism.
In the 19th century, a period called Romanticism started in the European continent. This period consisted of art, literature, poetry, philosophy and scientific thought. It played a major role in historiography, education and natural sciences. It evolved from a partly reaction of the Industrial Revolution where the social norms of Age of Enlightenment and scientific rationalization of nature was created. This period tried to make a great effect on the political backgrounds as the impact of such things could make this sector better and less complicated.
The concept of Romanticism gained ground following the 18th-century political revolutions that shook the traditional lives of societies across the globe. In particular, the French revolution that took place in 1789 led to the introduction of multiple changes in the way people lived. Alterations in the ways of thinking became a necessary addition to ensure efficient blending into the new sequences. For these reasons, the term
The Romantic Period was a time very different from that of the previous movement, the Enlightenment. It was a time for creativity and it was a time of unity in nature and within themselves. During the Enlightenment, science and reason prevailed. Everything had set rules on how it should be and how people should act in their private and public lives. Truth was static and never changing until the Romantic Movement.
For as long as it has been in existence, the arts have been utilised to reflect, represent and review change and transformation within society, whether it be through art, literature, music or poetry. The ideas and expressions of the arts of the Romantic period were inspired by and formed around the Romantic’s experiences of social injustice, inequality and political turmoil. Political and economic developments and events such as the French Revolution, the Industrial Revolution, the end of the Enlightenment period and the increased ideology of Capitalism were the primary source of inspiration for the Romantics, as they conveyed their ideas and thoughts on society through the arts. They expressed and portrayed a wide variety of things through their art, whether it be inequality in society, their feelings and thoughts on the state of politics, beauty, nature, sexuality and pleasure and animals. The Romantic movement was, in a sense, almost an act of rebellion against the typical confines and norms that society typically demands as it gave a voice and a platform to opinions that could be considered unconventional, tackled issues such as inequality and prejudice, normalised many topics that were considered to be taboo and encouraged things such as questioning dominant ideologies that dictated society, such as religion and the government. The works of art and literature produced by the Romantics portrayed somewhat of a utopian society in which inequality and exploitation ceased to
Romanticism affected literature and music, as well as visual art. The German Sturm und Drang movement (late 1760s-early 1780s) was predominantly revenge-driven literary and minor-key musical, but led to a handful of visual artists painting terrifying scenes. Romantic art truly got underway at the turn of the century, and had its greatest number of practitioners for the next 40 years, between the 1800-1840.

The Romantic Movement, which originated in Germany but quickly spread to England, France, and beyond, reached America around the year 1820. Romantic ideas centered on art as inspiration and spiritual movements. (IIP Digital)
Cave paintings are a fascinating form of symbolic expression. Prior to cave paintings, homonins had not shown any definitive capacity for imaginative expression. The notion of cave art may not seem so remarkable, but the ability to think of abstract concepts and give meaning to ideas is something that distinguishes ‘humans’ from other animals. Obviously over time, the purpose of these paintings becomes obscure and hard to interpret. Our understanding of these cave paintings is based on what remains at the sites, retrospect, and aside from the relative time frame and context of when these paintings were done, our interpretations are mostly just speculative. The cave paintings are generally depicting wild animals, abstract patterns, and human
Giving students the opportunity to volunteer or participate in fun events located in national parks is a great way to get the younger generation involved. This strategy is a great way to conserve the parks and the environment. The younger generation definitely is the future and they hold the key to change the world and to push the world forward in the future. I believe that if one young person visits the national parks then they would cause a rippling effect by bringing more young people. Younger people should be exposed to environmental consequences and should be taught on how to prevent them, but they should also be given the chance to view what the effect that consequences have on the environment. It is different for a young person to be
Artists and paintings can have a significant influence over the general attitude of a time period by spreading a certain sentiment throughout their paintings, and overall these artists played a major role in the spread of romanticism during the late eighteenth century. The romantic movement defined Europe by shifting the focus from rationalism and classicism of the Enlightenment towards emphasizing the expression natural human emotions and imagination in art. Romanticism in general can be characterized as a sort of rebellious reaction to the Enlightenment and Neoclassicism, and the movement produced a new aesthetic form of art based around addressing human nature. In this way, romantic works successfully stood as sort of refreshing contrast to the overdone impressions of classicism. In the late eighteenth century, romanticism would continue to emerge as a literary, artistic, and musical movement throughout Europe.
