This article is written to give information about the opposing viewpoints of the Republican and Democratic parties when it comes to LGBT marriage rights and religion. The author states that Republicans tend to believe allowing gay marriage is going against the Freedom of Religion right in the Constitution, while Democrats believe that using religion to prevent gay marriage is going against the Freedom of Religion Act because one has the right to choose which religion they follow and should not be barred down by another religion just because it does not believe what you do. The author, Kenneth Jost, is the author of Supreme Court Yearbook and The Supreme Court from A to Z, and did a spectacular job of showing no bias as far as I could tell.
The Republicans have selected me, Arthur Chester, to be Garfield’s running mate. The Republican Party has favored Civil Service and I have decided to take part in this. In fact, I have considered not being nominated for a second term; in order to satisfy the American public. However, I know that a few may love me for this and others may not, but I am not just doing this for myself, but for the people.
On June 26, 2015, the US Supreme Court ruled that the US Constitution guarantees the right for same-sex couples to marry. Many conservative groups do NOT agree with this decision. The gay marriage debate has been simmering for as long as I can remember. The four articles I have selected give information from four different perspectives including that of liberals, conservatives, homosexuals, and orthodox Jews. With so many differing opinions, one can understand why it's been so hard for the nation to come to agree on this issue.
immigrants of being drug dealers, rapists, murderers, and criminals overall. “There is a very real criminal component utilizing the dislocations caused by massive immigration to cover crimes of every variety, from drug trafficking to murder. This does not [account] for irresponsible driving habits that also take a toll of American citizens. This writer has two friends in two separate incidents that were killed by errant aliens. In both case, the aliens fled across the border to avoid vehicular manslaughter charges” (Thompson). The reality behind the Republican Party´s arguments against immigration is discrimination and racism. “They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists” (Trump). Their statements are not based on evidence or statistics, but are huge generalizations.
The government and the Catholic Church have not always had a great correspondence. Out of the many parties that have been created for the government, through time, the Democrats and the Republicans have taken precedence. The Democrats lean more to the liberal side of things, while the Republicans lean more towards the conservative side. The Democrat party is the oldest existing party, and called the ‘party of the people.’ The Republican Party came into the existence just before the Civil War, mostly because of their stance for the abolition of slavery and their candidate’s win, Abraham Lincoln. Both parties have their pros and cons, and both parties have their problems with the Catholic Church.
On a side note, I'm happy to say that a good portion of Sanders' supporters I've met at campaign events are completely dissatisfied with the Democratic Party. At several events, event organizers have asked those in attendance, "Who will vote for Hillary if Bernie doesn't get the nomination?" More often than not, at least half the room doesn't raise their hands.
I think Republicans would be for it more than Democrats because the Republican party is more known to be about money.
In the forefront of the political system in the US are the two major parties; the liberal Democrats and the conservative Republicans. While each party strives for peace and prosperity of the United States, they have many different views on topics that are always in people’s minds including; gun control, immigration, health care and many others. These parties have evolved through hundreds of years of competition and ideas from all over the world into the modern parties that we now have.
I support the republican platform on the issue of homosexual marriage. Marriage has been traditionally defined as a recognized union between a man and a woman. Since the law has changed, dictionaries have now added that it is also between two people of the same sex. (Merriam-Webster). Marriage has been traditionally recognized, condoned, and conducted by the church of your choice. It is spiritual in nature, based on the natural attraction and love of town persons of the opposite sex. Many citizens in this day and age have come to believe that it is strictly a legal status, given its tax breaks and advantages. The Democratic Party and Supreme Court have taken the sanctity of marriage and traditions of the church and made it about discrimination. There are other ways to stop discrimination without crushing the values and beliefs that America was founded on. Democrats have taken a blind eye on separation of church and state with this issue. Due to the stated discrimination issue and the governments need to step in and correct what they think is a deficiency, there should have been a measure taken to not involve the government into the business of the church. A legal status could have been given to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community (LGBT). That legal status would have allowed the LGBT community to enjoy the same
Two of the major parties in the United States are Republicans and Democrats. Also below the two major parties are third parties. They are the Socialist Party USA, Communist Party USA, Tea Party, Green Party, and Libertarian Party. These parties disagree with each other on many things and have different standing on certain things. Such as Healthcare, National Defense/Security, and Economy.
Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Bremen, Bristol, Damariscotta, Newcastle, Nobleboro, South Bristol, and Southport caucused at GSB. Sanders had a large and enthusiastic group of supporters at the
The Democratic and Republican Party have many different views on a variety of issues that deem as important. One of the most important topics that they constantly discuss is of Immigration and if they're should be a path to legalizing the undocumented immigrants. The Democratic Party when it comes to immigration believes that a comprehensive reform is essential to the American economy. They constantly blame the Republicans for cutting funds on bills that were aimed to protect the national security and laws that would aim a path to citizenship. The Democrats claim that in 2011 President Obama announced an executive action that would offer deportation relief for 5 million undocumented immigrants while also cracking down illegal immigrants in
For a long time Americans have been under the impression that Republicans are for the people, but are they really? The Republican presidential candidates have many times been caught fabricating their campaign stories. These candidates are not properly trained for politics. The prior careers of the candidates range from CEO’s to just being flat out billionaires. How can you run a country without the proper training. It is absurd to me that people really are willing to place such a job in the hands of these people. You can not go from only being in charge of thousands of people to millions. You need to be politically trained to actually be able to make strategically good decisions for everyone in a country. The country deserves to fully know the
The article “Gay Marriage and Religious Rights: Say Nada to FADA” was written by Walter Olson in 2015. Olson is known for his writings about the American legal system and his liberitarian thinking. The passage presents the controversy between same-sex marriage and religious liberty. In June 2015, the United States Supreme Court announced the legalization of homosexual marriage. In September 2015, a bill that presented the conflict declared the importance of preventing any gouvernmental interference which emphasizses the convictions related to marriage and religious beliefs.
When it is time to vote most citizens vote for different circumstances that don’t actually associate with the quality of the individual whom is running for office. Voters designate their votes by using religion, race, culture, relation, or in most cases party. In the United States of America there are plenty of governing political parties but the two largest are the Democratic Party and Republican Party. A countless amount of individuals seldom known what these parties mean, stand for, or principles in which they uphold.
Elizabeth Schroeder’s book, Taking Sides, looks at opposing views on controversial issues, one of which is legalizing same-sex marriage. In their article, “Talking About the Freedom to Marry: Why Same-Sex Couples Should Have Equality in Marriage,” the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund supports same-sex marriage. An opposing view, is given by Robert P. George, a Princeton University professor. In his article, “The 28th Amendment: It Is Time to Protect Marriage, and Democracy, in America,” he explains why he is against same-sex marriage.
