Amelia Earhart’s life. Beginning to End Amelia Earhart’s life was an interesting one. From being the daughter of a busy father that had drinking issues, to learning how to fly all alone, and being taught by one of the best. She trained in the medical field but continued to follow her dream of flying working odd jobs along the way to support herself. With the rise of Amelia’s popularity and her being an inspiration to woman all around the world. Finally, attempting to fly around the world and mysteriously disappearing in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Amelia’s early life and the reason she enjoyed flying so much. Amelia was born in 1897 in Atcheson, Kansas, where she lived with her very wealthy maternal grandparents and her younger sister. Their grandparents sent them to an expensive private day school for all of her elementary school years. The family maintained this living arrangement until she was 12 years old. In 1909, Amelia and her sister went to live with their parents in Des Moines, Iowa, where the Rock Island Railroad had transferred their father who was a lawyer for the railroad. (Lovell, 1998) After Des Moines, they moved with her parents to various cities until her father was finally fired from the railroad for being an alcoholic. Her father’s alcoholism caused Amelia to have a lifelong dislike of alcohol.
