Sam McGee and his crew went out to look for gold in frigid weather thinking they would strike it rich, but after a while the cold got to Sam. At this point, he knew he wouldn't make it. He asked his friend Cap one last favor, he asked him to cremate him when he dies. Once Sam died, Cap dragged Sam out to Lake Labarge and started a fire. In The “Cremation of Sam McGee”, written by Robert W. Service, Sam says,”So I want you to swear that, foul or fair, you’ll cremate my last remains.”Sam knows he is going to die, so he asks Cap to cremate him when he does. In stanza 7, it says,”With a corpse half hid that I couldn’t get rid, because of a promise given.”Cap made a promise, so he had to drag Sam down to Lake Lebarge in the freezing cold snow that he could die in
Rikki-tikki recognizes an almost hidden snake caused by it’s similar color of the ground that he hides upon. Dust snakes have as deadly of a bite as cobras and their small size comes as an advantage, allowing them to turn unexpectedly in any direction. The battle between the mongoose and snake is what begins the trust of Teddy’s father, and makes Rikki-tikki a savior in the family. This scene also leads to the death of the two other snakes, Nag and Nagaina by giving Rikki-tikki the confidence to battle the other snakes. Which allows the critters to feel safe at home.
Rikki Tikki Tavi is hero for many reasons in this story. One reason is Rudyard Kipling wrote “it must be the head,” he said at last; “the head above the hood. And, when I am once there, I must not let go” (Kipling 129). Throughout this scene in the story, Rikki was suffering in pain, attempting to kill Nag knowing he what could happen to him was pure torture for him but it
Eventually, they brought Rikki back to health and Rikki lives with them. However, snakes plan to kill the family, so Rikki defends and saves the family from a tragic death. Since Rikki just saved a whole family and saved a whole generation of people he should have a right to be proud. If Rikki had not saved the family, the snakes would have killed more innocent people and/or animals. Not only did Rikki save just one family of three, but he also saved many other lives too. Joseph Campbell, a quote writer from the 1900’s, claims that, “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.” Heroes have a right to be proud of themselves and Rikki was a hero, which gives him the right to be
The book Rikki-Tikki Tavi is about Rikki-Tikki, a mongoose, who must protect a family from deadly cobras living in their garden. The book takes place at a bungalow in India. Rikki was swept away by a high summer flood and washed up at the bungalow. After the family revives Rikki, he finds Darzee, the tailor bird, wailing in his nest about one of his babies being eaten by the cobra, Nag. When Riki was washed up at the house, he was on the pavement in front of the house.
The story Rikki-tikki-tavi by Rudyard Kipling is about the rivalry between Rikki, a small mongoose and Nag and Nagaina, two king cobras. A giant wave flushes Rikki out from his warm, cozy den and leaves him on the river bank near Teddy’s family’s garden. Rikki is taken in and cared for, by Teddy’s family. While exploring the garden he confronts two king cobras Nag and Nagaina. If Rikki does not kill the snakes, the garden creatures will fall prey to the cobras! This exciting story also became a motion picture movie. The story and the movie are similar in plot but contain some notable differences, including where Rikki finds Teddy in the bath and that Nagaina waits for one of
Rikki was found by a river soaking wet by Teddy, a boy who wanted to have a funeral for him, and his family. In both the story and movie he was describe cold and wet; also he was found in the dirt. The family decided to take him home to warm him up and get him something to eat. During the movie the big man, Teddy’s dad, picked Rikki up at the river holding him with his nose at the man’s finger tips, and Rikki’s tail passed his wrist. While in the story it is stated “the big man picked him up between finger and thumb.”( Kipling pg.143) there is a difference between the story and the movie. While the movie isn’t an exact replica there still are a lot of similarities. When the family decided to bring Rikki-Tikki in to dry the movie and story have a difference. The story said that “They wrapped him in cotton, and warmed him over a little fire.” (Kipling 143). Although the movie was close it showed Rikki in the cotton but he wasn’t placed over a small fire. Similarities are plentiful in the movie, but there are some differences to look up to.
Rikki-Tikki-Tavi was one brave mongoose who had the courage to go up against the fiercest animals on the planet, Cobras. (Movie)(Kipling 143) The story took place in Segowlee Cantonment, India in a house’s garden where Darzy the bird and his wife, Chucundra the muskrat, and the deadly Cobras live. (Kipling 143) The Rikki-Tikki-Tavi was a mongoose who got washed away from his home and ended up with a new family. He would would end up coming across three snakes in the large garden and killing them. Cobras, are one of the most dangerous snakes in the world. You must be brave to fight a cobra if you are not you could be snatched up any moment. Nevertheless Rikki-Tikki-Tavi the book and the movie are the same story they have differences such as the Plot, characterization, and the conflict.
Muhammed Ali stated that “He who is not courageous enough to take risks in life will accomplish nothing in life.” It was gutsy of Rikki-Tikki to fight to fight the snakes Nag and Nagaina because they are one of the most deadly creatures in the Bungalow. There is a huge variety of similarities throughout the book and the movie such as the characters, setting and conflict.
What motivates a person or character in text to undertake a mission. Rikki-Tikki-Tavi by Rudyard Kipling is a fictional narrative that demonstrates that characters in text undertake a mission because of multiple motivations. The narrative begins by introducing the reader to Rikki-Tikki-Tavi and the human family, as well as the initial conflict of Rikki-Tikki being washed away from his mongoose family and ends up being adopted by the human family. Soon thereafter, Rikki-Tikki encounters the story’s most important conflict, battling the snakes, and while engaging in his mission to kill the snakes, Rikki killed Karait the dusty brown snakeling, Rikki then engaged in battle with Nag and won, Rikki lastly slaughtered Nagaina. The resolution
Rikki Tikki is a brave character in this story. For instance, it was Rikki Tikki vs. Nag and his wife, Nagania, and Rikki struck at Nagania “ He bit indeed…….and didn’t run away.” (para29). This proves that Rikki is brave because he bit Nagania and he wasn’t even afraid of Nagana biting or hurting him.Rikki’s character trait helps make the thesis brave because if he was afraid of everything and didn’t have any courage no one would put brave as their thesis. Also, Rikki’s character traits were found in this quote “Rikki-Tikki did not care to follow them, for he did not feel sure that he could manage two snakes at once.” This quote proves that Rikki is brave because he states that he can take on two snakes if it means protecting his family. This
It is difficult to stand by family and friends through hardships, but Rikki-Tikki-Tavi protected his family through close deaths and life threatening moments. “Rikki Tikki Tavi” by Rudyard Kipling is a fictional fable that demonstrates that people should protect anybody that they care about.
His courageous was able the save the many animals and people that lived in the garden and the house. One part that shows how Rikki-tikki-tavi is brave, is on page 27 in the story, “If Rikki-tikki had only known, he was doing a much more dangerous thing than fighting Nag, for Karait is so small, and can turn so quickly, that unless Rikki bit him close to the back of the head, he would get the return stroke in his eye or his lip.” This statement shows how Rikki-tikki-tavi was brave even though he had put his life at risk for others. The Karait as it states in the evidence in very quick, so the snake could end Rikki-tikki-tavi’s life with one blow. Rikki-tikki-tavi didn’t back away and let the little British boy get hurt, but he put his life at risk and defeated the Karait, which saved the British family. Nevertheless, Rikki-tikki-tavi was still tremendously scared, because he was a young mongoose who just entered this new land. Even though, Rikki-tikki-tavi could have just ran off of fright, but he decided to save the boy and his family from the Karait, death. Not only is Rikki-tikki-tavi courage, but he still cares for the family that nursed him back to
Rikki has no experience with fighting a snake, that is bigger than him, but he is not allowing the snake to bully him (Kipling paragraph 8). In addition,” Rikki then jumped across the bathroom, and his head was lying a little clear of the water jar, under the curve of it; and as his teeth met, Rikki braced his back against the bulge of the red earthenware to hold down the head (Kipling paragraph 20). This proves that Rikki overheard
RIKKI-TIKKI-TAVI We all know how Rikki saved Teddy from all the snakes but there is something more than just saving Teddy Rikki has saved him cause he loves Teddy but why? This related to the theme because it says that rikki did almost the impossible to save Teddy. The theme of the fictional story Rikki-tikki-tavi by Rudyard Kipling is nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it. Rikki is a mongoose who is not afraid to fight this what makes him the main character in this story Rikki was usually restless he could scratch where he pleased with any of his legs front or back. This demonstrates my thesis because Rikki fought by himself three mean snakes who wanted to kill teddy but he never gave up until he killed each and everyone of those snakes.
Some people say risking their life to aid others is crazy, but Rikki-Tikki and Cap did anything they could to help their friends.Cap wanted to fulfill Sam’s promise, while Rikki-Tikki was trying to protect his friends and Teddy’s family; however both characters were motivated by the desire to do the right thing even though it was dangerous and tough.
