1 / 1 Romeo and Juliet act 1 paragraph In the play Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is more compulsive than Juliet. Romeo falls in love much too easily. Romeo says to Benvolio, “Out of her favor where I am in love” (Shakespeare 1.1.178). This passage illustrates Romeo is compulsive because he is clearly in love with someone that doesn’t show interest in him. Romeo falls in love at first sight. Romeo says to Juliet, “If I profane my unworthiness hand this holy shrine, the gentle fine is this: my lips to blushing pilgrims ready strand to smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss”, (1.5.102-105). This passage illustrates Romeo is compulsive because he clearly wants to kiss her even though it’s the first time they met. Romeo cries at the thought someone
In Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, he once wrote, “Within the infant rind of this weak flower Poison hath residence and medicine power: For this, being smelt, with that part cheers each part; Being tasted, stays all senses with the heart. Two such opposed kings encamp them still In man as well as herbs-grace and rude will; And where the worser is predominant, Full soon the canker death eats up that plant,”(2.3.23-31). This was written from the Friar Lawrence’s point of view for Romeo and Juliet, and the meaning behind this quote can be applied in the book, Lord of the Flies by William Golding.
Fate Wins Again People might not believe in fate; they believe that whatever happens in their lives comes from the decisions that they make. Others, however, believe that events are fated and planned out for them; in other words, fate. Fate means something is going to happen without any notice or prior knowledge to the fact. The theme of fate plays a major role in William Shakespeare's play, The Tragedy Of Romeo And Juliet.
Quotation 6: “Evermore weeping for your cousin's death?/ What, wilt thou wash him from his grave with tears?/ An if thou couldst, thou couldst not make him live;/ Therefore have done. Some grief shows much of love,/ But much of grief shows still some want of wit.” (Rom. 3. 5. 71-76)
However, at the party he meets Juliet for the first time, and immediately falls in love with her: “Did my heart love till now? forswear it, sight! / For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.” Romeo, who was in love with Rosaline until a moment ago, completely forgets about her and is now all focused on Juliet. But what is very surprising is not the fact that he is in love with his enemy’s daughter, the astonishing thing is the speed at which he falls in love with her. Soon, in fact, he and Juliet kiss each other: “Thus from my lips, by yours, my sin is purged.” However, Romeo’s characteristics to love so deeply Juliet is just a symbol of his lacking the capacity of moderation for intense feelings of all kind. Had Romeo stopped himself from being so deeply caught up by Juliet’s beauty, the tragedy would have never happened.
Tybalt, a committed Capulet, always showing superior towards Montagues, is the perfect example of personification of hate in Romeo and Juliet. Tybalt plays an important character in Romeo and Juliet because of his aggressive and arrogant personality which causes major conflicts and catastrophes.
In this world hate means many different things. For some people hate may mean the emotion they feel against their country for all the deaths and disparities that the war torn country has caused them. For others the word could mean that the teen is going through a phase and may “hate” their parents for not getting them the a in style piece of clothing or a resplendent new phone. But in the 1300’s there was a whole different rationale of the word “hate”.
An Eros lover has a warm relationship with their family, falls in love at first sight, and idealizes love. In Juliet’s case, she has a warm relationship with her nurse, father, and brother. In the beginning Juliet was not anxious to fall in love, but when she met Romeo, everything changed. On her balcony, after her encounter with Romeo, she confesses her love for him. Even though she just met him she claims it is love at first sight, a characteristic in Eros lovers. In addition, she is desperate to have sexual intercourse with Romeo and compares herself to, “an impatient child that [had] new robes/ And [could] not wear them” (III.ii.88). In other words, she had married but was still a virgin. At this time she is idealizing the idea of love. Also, she considers love the most important activity, which is shown when she spends the entire day in bed waiting for Romeo.
The parents sadly watch their children being carried into the family tomb. The play, by William Shakespeare, displays the relationships of Romeo and Juliet. This drama takes place in Verona, Italy, where the Capulets and Montagues are feuding. Poor relationships, deceit, and poor advice leads to tragedy. The teenagers relationships with their families are soon tested.
Juliet was not in love with Romeo, but she may have been feeling a great sense of limerence towards him. The line between feelings love and limerence can sometimes be hard to see, which explains why Juliet “fell in love” with Romeo so quickly. She didn’t actually fall in love, she just thought she did. This false love is important to notice because it shows the theme ‘love is blind’. Juliet thought she was in love with Romeo and her false love for him made her blind to the fact that she really was not in love.
In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is one of the more compulsive characters in the story. Romeo is compulsive, because he doesn’t think before he does things, and falls in love way to easily. An example would be in the beginning of the Act during scene 1. During this scene Romeo walks on the stage sad and depressed, and Benvolio asks what is wrong. Romeo pours his heart out and says that he’s in love with someone he had just met, Rosaline. “She is too fair, too wise, wisely to fair, to merit bliss by making me despair. She hath for worth to who, and in that vow do I lire alad that live to tell it how.” This example shows that Romeo falls in love with their beauty, instead of getting to know them first. And it also shows him falling in love to easily.
“Romeo, oh Romeo, where art thou Romeo.” This quote is what one would imagine when thinking about Shakespeare and the tragic tale of Romeo and Juliet. However, Romeo may not be as tragic of a hero as one would think. In Shakespeare’s tale of Romeo and Juliet, the two lovers are in feuding families and must keep their love secret. As time goes on, Juliet and Romeo fall deeply in love for each other despite their names, and wish for every second to be together. However, their love becomes intercepted when Juliet is told that she shall marry a man she does not like. While Juliet is trying to find a way to be with Romeo and get out of her arranged marriage, Romeo is faced with a duel with his soon to be cousin and his best friend. In a blind rage
In a cold winter night snow is falling, the trees blowing, the feeling of being followed, That is the feeling of fear. Fear is a common feeling that all people have. In Romeo and Juliet fear is shown on every turn. In Shakespeare’s plays he shows examples of fear, when Romeo and Juliet get married, when Juliet drinks the potion, and when Romeo gets banished
“I’m not going to leave you two alone until after you’re married.” said Friar Lawrence. He then gestures for both Romeo and Juliet to follow him into the garden behind the church. Romeo and Juliet both stand in front of Friar Lawrence looking happier than ever. Friar Lawrence notices this and just thinks to himself about how dumb this is, but he is willing to do it in hope of stopping the feud. A feud that has been going on for so long that no one even remembers how it started and yet the family's hate each other because of it. Hate each other so much that some are willing to kill each other.
Romeo is very compulsive in the play “Romeo and Juliet”. First, you can tell Romeo’s so compulsive, because he falls in love much to easily. Romeo tells his cousin Benvolio, “Out of her favor where I am in love” (Shakespeare 1.1.178). This quote shows that Romeo falls in love to easily when Rosaline has no interest. Second, Romeo thinks something bad will happen at the party because of a dream he had. Again, Romeo tells Benvolio, “In bed asleep, while the do dream thing true” (Shakespeare 1.4.57). This example illustrates that Romeo believes that this dream means something bad will happen. Lastly, he falls in love with Juliet before he even knows her and forgets about Rosaline. Romeo says, “O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems
