With Martin Luther King day approaching this Monday, I felt writing about Rosa Parks and Civil Disobedience as the topic of this essay. As a female myself, I feel it is important for all genders to be confident and have strong values. Other females I want to include, is my mother and grandmother. My grandmother is 90 years old, and even though she lived in another state from where I grew up, we spent many summers together. I learned the value of being confident and being able to be very independent. My mother has always encouraged me to challenge myself and be a good citizen. Rosa Parks was a good citizen and took a stance (or seat) in what she believed. No matter our size, color, or religious beliefs, as long as we are good citizens …show more content…
I miss them so much, but this school provides an environment where we are all there for the same reason and there is no such thing as bullying. If I saw Rosa Parks today, I would thank you for her courage to stand up to what I call bullying. I would also thank Martin Luther King for speaking about the important of being a good citizen. I also want to thank all of my role models, who are helping me become a good citizen. Being a good citizen isn't such standing up to bullying but also carrying for our community, and our future. My grandmother is currently living in an assisted living. I know she is being cared for and I try to visit as often as I can so I can hear about her stories from the time period of Rosa Parks. My grandfather passed away two years ago, and he was another great role model. He worked 60 years, plus as a chiropractor. He served in the Navy, and served time during World War II. He was an active member of several organizations, such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sons of Norway, several boards within the Chiropractic field. He was an outstanding citizen of our community. If only everyone could be like my grandparents, my parents, Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King, we would be in a better place without violence and bullying. Let's all rally
Martin Luther King Jr. is an idol for most people; Rosa Parks was one of them. She admired his bold integrity to stand up for what is right in equality. Dr. King was a light to the world, because people wanted things to change, but they were afraid. They did not want to be arrested or attacked. They could boycott. They could refuse to ride the buses. That would cost the city a lot of money. The city and bus officials would not like that. This was a way Dr. King was standing up for Rosa. I added Dr. King to Rosa’s friends, because I felt he made a great impact on her life. If it weren’t for Martin Luther King’s heroic act in taking charge of the situation, Rosa Parks may have been in jail longer than intended, with a possible worse penalty.
Her father decided to go further north, but her mother didn't want to stay in
Black activism commenced with a group of people with the same problems coming together to make a change. The story of Rosa Parks is no secret in Montgomery, Alabama, the birthplace of black activism, and even throughout the country. But, plenty of people don’t know that because of her actions to give up her seat, she “sparked a tradition of black protest against rigid segregation in the South” (Brands, eltc: 737). Parks refusing her seat on the bus was illegal to certain people in that era. When other African American people saw this and realized the change that it can cause, it sparked a sequence of events that changed history. Not only after Parks there were protest, but during her arrest many African American women came together and told the minority group they got to help and have Parks back. They told the group as African Americans we need to stick together and make a change. Making changes and building plenty of more protest helped Martin Luther King Jr. become a voice for African Americans. What started with Rosa Parks stemmed into the Montgomery bus boycott which King, himself, was the creator and master mind of. The basis of the boycott was not to create violence nor any harassment. Starting as a peaceful boycott, the people were harassed and being attacked causing people to lash out in the way King did not want to be perceived as. King told the people who were standing with him to never use violence as your answer. He wanted everybody to remain neutral and with
Rosa Parks, also called the “Mother of the Civil Rights Movement,” was given the NAACP's Spingarn Medal and the Martin Luther King, Jr. nonviolent-peace prize. Rosa Parks was also awarded the Eleanor Roosevelt Woman of Courage award in 1984. Rosa’s influence and impact on the society is one that can never be replaced. Rosa was not only the person who took that seat, but she has plenty of respect because of her personality as a strong willed woman. Where did all this began?
Attention Grabber: catch the reader’s attention (Can be a surprising statistic, a rhetorical question, an anecdote or a summary of a fact)-Rosa Parks didn’t STAND UP for her civil rights, she SAT DOWN for them.
“The only tired I was, was tired of giving in” (Parks). I was tired, tired of being oppressed, and tired of being stepped on by the law, and my fellow people. That was the only tired i felt. The Montgomery Bus protest sparked a fire that would be felt throughout the entire country, and it was the spark that ignited the fire of the civil rights movement that shook the world. The boycott was the first of it, once light was shown on the problem, she began travelling cross country spreading information about civil rights, and sparking more peaceful protest. Rosa Parks was an important figure that changed the direction of the United States of America. She was trying to get home from work that day, but she turned into an icon for the civil rights movement, and shined a light on the unfair treatment of african americans.
Obtaining the human spirit means to put others before yourself, and being able to do anything to fight for what you believe in. Someone who I believe attains the human spirit is Rosa Parks. She stood up for what she believed in, no matter what others did or said about her, but still being humble and kind. Starting the Montgomery Bus Boycott, attempting to reduce the amount of segregation, and finding equality for most African Americans are reasons why Rosa Parks is a hero and has the human spirit embellished within her.

Rosa Parks saved our world today by refusing to give up her seat to a white man. She has always been a great and caring person that looked out for everyone around her. She always put her family before herself because they were very important to her. She thought she needed to do something about all the racism her family and others like them dealt with on a daily basis. She joined a club called the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, in other words the NAACP, because she wanted to do something to make a difference in the racist society.
When somebody says the word artist, you would commonly think of a painter or sculptor. The definition of an artist is a person that is skilled at a particular task or occupation. This definition applies to everyone and one of the utmost memorable artists is Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks was black and lived in a world where segregation was about and she took it into her own hands to make a stand.
One day in 1955 a women named Rosa Parks was on a bus and a guy came up to her and told her to move, she said no. She was courageous but, because of segregation and her choice of saying no to the man, she was arrested. Because of that day blacks started walking to work or getting to places without using the bus, the bus drivers weren’t getting enough money. The blacks had a boycott that lasted lasted 381 days! Since the drivers weren’t getting enough money police started pulling the black people onto the buses for money, but they struggled so much so because of that the segregation was ended!
I am writing on behalf of Rosa Parks to nominate her as a praiseworthy awardee for the 2017 Nobel prize for morality. Rosa truly defines the word “moral.” In everything she does, she focuses on the benefit of others, over the benefit of herself. Rosa is willing to sacrifice for others, whether that means sacrificing her time, or even her freedom. She also is a great peacemaker, is very diligent, and never gives up. I believe Mrs. Parks is the best fit for the award.
Rosa Parks played a critical and intricate role in the Civil Rights Movement, which had a goal in ending all forms of segregation.

In 1900, Montgomery passed a city law to segregate bus passengers by race. Bus Drivers were empowered to assign seats to achieve that goal. According to the law, no passenger would be required to move or give up his seat and stand if the bus was crowded and no other seats were available. Montgomery bus drivers agreed to require black riders to move when there were no white-only seats left. The first four rows of seats on a Montgomery bus were reserved for whites. Buses had "colored" sections for African Americans usually in the rear of the bus. African Americans could sit in the middle rows until the white section filled. African Americans could not sit in the same row or across the aisle as white people. For years, the black community had
