Although, congressional reconstruction included Amendments that abolished slavery, granted citizenship to all people born in United States or naturalized and granted the right to vote to all people no matter race, color or previous conditions of servitude. However, these amendments were ratified. Some people disagree these changes and opposed to give those rights to African american people. As this situation was getting worse, African American took a stand to fight for their rights. By refusing to give up her seat to a white man on a Montgomery, Alabama city bus in 1955, Black seamstress Rosa Parks (1913-2005) helped initiate the civil movement”(History.com). Rosa Parks was one of the first Activist of the civil right movement. She took a stand
“You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.” This was said by Rosa Parks. She was an enormous inspiration to the African American Race. She was one among many who lived in a rough time for African Americans. She lived in a time when equality wasn’t really equal. When African Americans were scared/ weren’t allowed to state their opinions on different matters. However, Rosa Parks was an individual who stood up for herself. Rosa Parks helped the Civil Rights Movement and African Americans gain equality mainly through her courage and refusal to move.
Who inspires me is rosa park because she stood up for what was right. She knew it was wrong that people with darker skin were mistreated. So she made a great decision and changed how people thought and did to people with darker colored skin. That's why I like her she knew it was wrong and did what was wright. If she never did that how would people with darker colored skin be treated today. I'm very thankful that she did that it changed the world and made it better.
One of the most influential and inspirational women of all time was Rosa Parks. By one action she helped change the lives of a majority of African Americans and more importantly society as a whole. Rosa Parks sparked the attention of America when she refused to settle for the black (lower class)standards. Not only did she help change the lives for many African Americans but she helped equality for all men and women in the United States. By one brave women our world will be forever thankful.
The evening of December 1, 1955, one single woman changed the lives of many people and the way that they would continue to live. Rosa Parks exhibited one woman's courage and strength to stand up for what she believed in. Mrs. Parks's decision to remain seated and go against the "Believed way" sparked the beginning of the American Civil Rights Movement. In this paper I will discuss Rosa Parks's background, her decision against standing up, and how she started the beginning of the American Civil Rights Movement.
On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks, one of the leaders of the local branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People [NAACP] refused to give up her seat to a white person on a segregated city bus in Montgomery, Alabama, despite being reprimanded by the driver (Schulke 166). Montgomery, Alabama was known for its terrible treatment of blacks. The buses in particular had been a source of tension between the city and black citizens for many years (Schulke, 167). As a result of refusing to give up her seat, Rosa Parks was arrested. Rosa Parks' popularity among the black community, proved to be the spark that ignited the non-violent Civil Rights Movement (Norrell 2).
During the 1900’s while the slaves were free blacks were still targeted with violence and discrimination even though Congress adopted the Fourteenth Amendment to ensure the safety and protection of black lives in many states. Racial discrimination went nationwide setting off the Civil Rights Movement in 1955. Rosa Parks, a seamstress in Alabama refused to give up a seat to a white male. Rosa whom was considered “The Mother of the Civil Rights Movement” was detained under a city law that forced her to give up her
“In 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a city bus to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama. This act of civil disobedience was an important catalyst in the growth of the Civil Rights movement; activists built the Montgomery Bus Boycott around it, which lasted more than a year and desegregated the buses. Civil rights protests and actions, together with legal challenges, resulted in a series of legislative and court decisions which contributed to undermining the Jim Crow
One cold December day a woman got onto a bus after a long shift at work, exhausted from the day she plopped down in a seat near the front. The next stop many white people boarded and the bus started to get full so they moved back until they reached the woman's seat. This was a problem because this woman, Rosa Parks, was black and had to move or she would end up in jail. Even with that knowledge, she refused to give that seat up. Many blacks faced this problem every day during the Civil Rights Movement, but weren't brave enough to stand up for their rights like Rosa was. After Rosa said "no" many realized they could stand up for their rights as well. Parks helped with people's involvement during these tough times and was involved herself. Due
To start off, Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat to a white man in 1955. She became a nationally recognized symbol of dignity and strength in the struggle to end racial segregation. Rosa Parka helped initiate the civil rights movement in the United States just by being brave. She decided to stand out and not accept the fact that she was being treated unfairly. On a typical day, an average of 70 percent or more riders were black. Parks stepped onto James Blake crowded bus just 12 days earlier. Paid her fare at the front, then resisted the rule in place for blacks to
If I could be one person from the 20th Century for a day, it would be Civil Rights Activist Rosa Parks. Born on Feb 04, 1913, Ms. Parks refused to give up her seat on the Montgomery Bus. Consequently, her actions led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott where the bus companies loss a tremendous amount of their profits. I would be Ms. Parks because I find her actions worthy for me to experience; she believed in justice and equality. Therefore, by fighting for her beliefs, she became one of the leading icons during the Civil Rights Movement. It is stated in the Declaration of Independence that all men are created equal; equality being the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, and opportunities. Due to the fact that Ms. Parks was not only
“The only tired I was, was tired of giving in” (Parks). I was tired, tired of being oppressed, and tired of being stepped on by the law, and my fellow people. That was the only tired i felt. The Montgomery Bus protest sparked a fire that would be felt throughout the entire country, and it was the spark that ignited the fire of the civil rights movement that shook the world. The boycott was the first of it, once light was shown on the problem, she began travelling cross country spreading information about civil rights, and sparking more peaceful protest. Rosa Parks was an important figure that changed the direction of the United States of America. She was trying to get home from work that day, but she turned into an icon for the civil rights movement, and shined a light on the unfair treatment of african americans.
Rosa Parks was a civil rights activist who fought for equal rights for all people and the ending of racism. Her refusal to not give up her seat to a white passenger in Montgomery, Alabama caused Rosa to be placed in jail and The Montgomery Bus Boycott to begin. The results from this boycott ended with the banning of the law pertaining to segregation on public transportation. Today, Rosa Parks is still a legend and is one of the most important people in black history. She stood up for what she believed in and fought hard to stop segregation in the south.
On December 1, 1995, a woman named Rosa Park has sparked a revolution - by refusing to move to let a white person to sit in her spot, after the bus became full, according to (ushistory.org, n.d.) the “Montgomery bus driver James Blake ordered Parks and three other African Americans seated nearby to move.” Although the other three riders agreed to give up seat; Parks did not. The refusal of Parks did not alone led her to jail but also inspire the Montgomery Boycott and other attempts to end segregation.
On December 1, 1955 Rosa denied a white man for giving up her seat on a bus. She was soon arrested. She had a successful campaign which led to Martin Luther’s Civil Right act.(3)
The historical figure that I admire most was a historical pioneer, Rosa Parks. I believe that she had a huge impact on not only the world, but also racism. She was so tired from work that she refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama, which lead to her getting arrested. She did not have any previous history with the law. She was too tired after a long day of work, and did not want to give up her seat to a white woman, to stand. This incident caught the attention of many Americans at the time. It made white people mad and made black people start standing up for themselves. Her actions made the bus business decrease for about a year. I admire that she was determined to stand up for what she believed in, and how she did not let
