Saul from “Timebound” with his murdering, changing timelines, and evil plotting, he really fits the description for “monster.” I would say that Saul is considered a monster not because of appearance, but because of his actions in demeritorious ways. It states on page 130 that, “When I told him that we needed to just go to Angelo and tell him before someone else discovered the same violations that I had….And all the while, he kept hitting me. Saul never hit me before. Even when he was really angry, he would hit the wall or break something, but never” (Walker). Based on the quote, Saul is a monster because he had no control over his rage that he repeatedly hit Katherine which he had never done before hence the quote, “Saul never hit me before.”
Throughout the play, “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet”, many different types of love are shown, however, I believe loyal, parental love, and romantic love are the most popular and influential types of love throughout the story. The Capulets and Montagues show loyalty for their house, the friar shows parental love for Romeo as the nurse shows parental love for Juliet, and Romeo and Juliet show romantic love for each other. These three types of love, loyal love, parental love, and romantic love, show many similarities to one another as they do differences.
In real life as in love disobedience against authority can lead up to many problems in life, and it could even cause dead. In Romeo and Juliet there are many different cases of disobedience against authority that lead up to many different problems and also death. Romeo and Juliet is a play of disobedience against authority as many laws are broken and family members and friends disobey each other’s orders.
In this world hate means many different things. For some people hate may mean the emotion they feel against their country for all the deaths and disparities that the war torn country has caused them. For others the word could mean that the teen is going through a phase and may “hate” their parents for not getting them the a in style piece of clothing or a resplendent new phone. But in the 1300’s there was a whole different rationale of the word “hate”.
The parents sadly watch their children being carried into the family tomb. The play, by William Shakespeare, displays the relationships of Romeo and Juliet. This drama takes place in Verona, Italy, where the Capulets and Montagues are feuding. Poor relationships, deceit, and poor advice leads to tragedy. The teenagers relationships with their families are soon tested.
Justice is perhaps something everyone looks for in life. The term “justice” can be carried and played out greatly by a character of a classic novel, Modern Prometheus, or Frankenstein. The daemon, as he is called throughout the novel, seeks to find himself a place in the world while being rejected by society. In his struggle to find that companionship, he seeks justice in a form of revenge against his creator in an unpredictable, yet triumphant manner.
As Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “The old law of ‘an eye for an eye’ leaves everybody blind.” By this, King is implying that revenge does not solve any issues, but instead affects multiple people who are involved in a conflict. Revenge is defined as the act of harming someone for any aggression towards another. “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet,” written by William Shakespeare, gives an excellent example that the thirst for vengeance can ruin everyone who is connected. Some examples of the play are Romeo and Tybalt, whose actions caused them to meet an unfaithful end. Their actions, which were guided by hatred, not only affected them, but both of their families. Romeo and Tybalt’s actions show that revenge itself can lead to great losses,
Douglas Horton once said, "While seeking revenge, dig two graves - one for yourself". The Count of Monte Cristo, a truly captivating novel written by Alexandre Dumas, lives to tell the tale of a young French Sailor, Edmond Dantés, who is forced to spend fourteen years in prison due to the actions of his jealous enemies or so-called "friends". When he eventually escapes, he is left with the feelings of a strong hatred and a thirst for revenge which sets him up to be the man he develops into throughout the novel. Throughout the novel, the Count of Monte Cristo seeks relentless revenge on all of the people who had wronged him many years ago. Dantés, completely unrecognizable after being freed, became only a prisoner of himself due to his need
Mary Shelley’s book, Frankenstein, demonstrates that there can be a hero in any story. Even in a story with so much terror and tragedy. In the book, Dr. Frankenstein’s intentions, some actions, and parts of his personality all make him a hero figure. Dr. Frankenstein’s creature doesn’t fit the criteria of being a hero. Being a hero takes courage, selflessness, humility, patience, and being caring.
Acting on selfish desires can result in violent actions. When one is overcome by grief they tend to act on impulse with revenge in attempt to fill their sorrow, when in fact that only makes the situation worse. In William Shakespheres Romeo and Juliet the fude between Montague and Capulet heats up as Romeo Montague is caught by Tybalt Capulet at a Capulet party. Tybalt selfishly wants to put Romeo in his place. The only way Tybalt negotiates is by war.
Throughout the beginning of the novel, Frankenstein’s monster has been defined by his ugly appearance. When Frankenstein’s monster encounters people, he is immediately driven away because of his ugliness, as seen by when Frankenstein’s monster conveys how ”children shrieked, and one of the women fainted” when he tried to enter a cottage, and how he was “grievously bruised by stones and many other kinds of missile weapons” once the villagers saw his ugliness(106). People assume that Frankenstein’s monster is evil solely because of his appearance, before the monster has shown any intent to harm others. This effect even occurs with Frankenstein himself, where he claims that the mere glimpse of the monster, which was “more hideous than belongs to humanity, instantly
“Near where the field began to fall away, Tommy’s figure appeared, raging, shouting, flinging his fists and kicking out” (Ishiguro 274). “Cursed, cursed creator! Why did I (monster) live? Why, in that instant, did I not extinguish the spark of existence which you had so wantonly bestowed? I know not; despair had not yet taken possession of me; my feelings were those of rage and revenge” (Shelly 143).
“O, I am fortune’s fool!” (Rom. 3.1.14). Romeo says this line in shock as he realizes that he killed Tybalt. In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, star crossed lovers are faced with the hardest challenge in life, and fate is not on their side. Fate is most responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
In life bad thing are always bound to happen. In Shakespeare play he shows that Benvolio is one of those people who wants to prevent bad things from happening. In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare shows through the use of language and action it shows that Benvolio is caring and is a peacekeeper.
The setting of Monster is somber and anticipating. - “They take away your shoelaces and your belt so you can’t kill yourself no matter how bad it is. I guess making you live is part of the punishment.” This quote explains how it is somber because the fact that he even mentioned something like that shows how bad it is being in jail, especially as a young kid. This quote also shows how the book is anticipating because just this quote makes you want to know what he’s going to say next, or what is going to happen next. The mood of the novel is impacted by the setting because the setting is depressing and some of it shows anxiousness. It shows it by Steve writing the details of how it is in the courtroom during the trial. When he describes what
Juliet Capulet lived a very short life. Although her life was short, she lived a passionate adventuresome romance with a forbidden love, Romeo Montague. William Shakespeare created a masterpiece when he created Juliet in the tragic play Romeo and Juliet. Her exquisite beauty and personal charm is among the finest in literature. Romeo’s description of her captures this perfectly when he says “Juliet is the sun and the brightness of her cheek would shame the stars.” Juliet is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Capulet. The Capulet and Montague families lived in Verona during the 1400’s.
