In the Story we learn about Scrooge, but more more importantly we learn lessons. We learn from Scrooge and how to start caring and to give more. We just need that little push just like with Marly and Scrooge.
Scrooge was a very rude old man that absolutely despite the fact of kindness being friendly and even Christmas. He was rude to his clerk, Bob Cratchit, his nephew Fred, poor people, and even children one time a boy was skipping and singing Christmas Carols and he told him to be quiet. Usually Scrooge would wear a long pea coat, red scarf, and a hat with a grumpy face. He became careless because of his life and what happened to him when he was younger. His wife left him early on because she felt like he loved and worshiped money more than her.

Scrooge ask Marley and he says that if you don’t change you will become just like me. At first he didn’t believe that he was there and didn’t take it serious. The first thing that Marley did was bring Past, Present, Future. When Past took Scrooge to his past they saw young Scrooge and his little sister Fan. Scrooge was going home from boarding school, then Past and Scrooge talked about how Fan died and she left one child Fred Scrooge’s nephew. When Present comes along he shows Scrooge his home and Bob Cratchit his clerk. When Present shows him Bob they talk about his wife and their children Martha, Belinda, Peter, and Tiny Tim. Scrooge asked what was wrong with Tiny Tim and Present told him because he has a sickness that causes him to walk a crutch. When Future visited Scrooge one of the first things they saw was people stealing from Scrooge because he was dead. At first he thought it was Marley and didn’t want to believe that he was dead, then when they went to Bob’s house he saw that Tiny Tim was dead because he was
In the Christmas Carol the main character Scrooge’s has a business of being human, although he abuses that and does not do the right things. Scrooge is very rude to characters and has lost one of his only friends Marley. Scrooge also has a clerk that has more importance then you would think. Scrooge is all about money and himself. In the story the author Dickens wants the reader to understand that one’s business in life is to be kind to others even when you feel they do not deserve it.
In conclusion when you change how you act and what your values are your entire life changes typically for the better. Scrooge was at first ignorant and greedy, but through the help of the spirits Scrooge changes into a better person who is capable of caring for others. This shows that anyone can change their
Scrooge is a rude, dismal man who hates mankind, and Christmas. During Christmastime there is a lot of charity and for being such a wealthy man that Scrooge is, he hates to give money to charity. He also thinks that Christmas is waste of time, and it could be used for
Scrooge is a very mean person and he doesn't care for anyone, he will be an old miser and he could care less about anything in the world except himself. He does mean stuff all the time liked decline charity and he doesn't even wanna make the world a better place. He even declined his nephews invite to a Christmas party now that's mean and when he's asked to donate for charity he is too much of a greedy soul to do anything to help anyone and he says that they need to go to a workhouse or prison, He doesn't care about anyone and he ignores everyone and could care less about the world's problems. He thinks that that is ok and then he gets a visit from a ghost saying that three ghosts are gonna come get him and that he shouldn't have been that greedy and he is gonna get a visit from them. Scrooge is freaking out and it takes him a while and he eventually gets sent to bed. In my opinion, though he is acting like that because Marley died and he is emotionally depressed and he takes his pain out on others because he is very said that's just my opinion.
Present shows the Cratchit’s home. The effect was Scrooge feels bad because he saw Tiny Tim and realized he doesn’t pay them enough and when he seen Tiny Tim he was in bad contain, the evidence of this is Scrooge saying, “Spirit, tell me if Tiny Tim will live. ”Fifteen shillings a week’s what he gets!”. Another cause of Scrooge changing was present sprinkles kindness on mean and/or poor people, the evidence is scrooge saying, “What is it you sprinkle from your torch?” Then Present replying, “Kindness.”
He first was annoyed and put upon that he had to be visited by them. Secondly, Scrooge whispers to himself “I’ll send it to Bob Cratchit”and says to the boy ”Come back with the man and I’ll give you a shilling, come back with him in less than five minutes, and I’ll give you a half a crown”. This shows that Scrooge has changed financially as well. This is because in the beginning Scrooge won’t buy anything for himself or others and now, he is willing to be generous with his money to those around him and is thoughtful of others less fortunate than him, he shows this through his thoughts when he thinks about how Bob Cratchit only could afford a small turkey for his large family and decides to help him and purchase a massive turkey so that his family would be fed well on Christmas and afterward with leftovers. In The Christmas Carol Scrooge changes through his
Scrooge never gave the beggars or the needy anything so all of the people that saw him tended to avoid him. Overall, Scrooge’s character is selfish and not really charitable. Scrooge begins to show signs of transformation during the story. On page 59, it says, “‘Spirit,’ said Scrooge submissively, ‘conduct me where you will. I went forth last night on compulsion, and I learned a lesson which is working now. Tonight, if you have aught to teach me, let me profit by it.” Scrooge is less defiant and more compelled to understand what he did in his life and the bad choices he made. On page 59, it quotes, “Scrooge did as he was told, and held it fast.” Scrooge becomes more submissive and obeys the Spirits to gain more knowledge. Clearly, Scrooge is beginning to transform in the middle of the book. Upon meeting the last spirit, it is evident that Scrooge is a changed man. On page 110, it states, “hear me! I am not the man I was.” Scrooge is now a changed man that is developing sympathy for the needy and the
In the play, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, Scrooge was an old cranky man that only cared about money and himself. In the play, Scrooge had a love but they had broken up and he never took the chance to find a new love. In the end of the play, Scrooge learned how to be a good person and how to love again. Initially, in the play Scrooge was an old cranky man that only cared about himself and money.
When the Cratchits were eating the meal, Scrooge asked if Tiny Tim would live and when the ghost says no, he is discouraged. As the text states, “If he be like to die, he better do it, and decrease the population.” (pg. 71) When Scrooge heard what the ghost said he was The vibe wasn’t was positive after stating his name, so that gives Scrooge reason to change. When Scrooge sees Tiny Tim, he begins to worry. He’s worried the boy will die. When he asks the ghost if the boy will live, and the ghost say not if something is changed, then Scrooge becomes
The first spirit to visit him was the Ghost of Christmas Past who showed to Scrooge some of the past Christmases that Scrooge was a better man in the past. “Oh I loved her,” said Scrooge with a smile on his face when he saw Fann, his loving little sister. There was also the Ghost of Christmas Present. With the help of both of them, Scrooge was beginning to become a greater man when he saw how awfully Mr. Bob Cratchit was struggling. The Ghost of Christmas Present showed Scrooge how the other people around him cared for him. At Fred’s party and at the Cratchit house, they both gave a toast to Scrooge’s good health. Looking at these two instances Scrooge started to turn into a finer man for himself, family, and
Scrooge had a miserable childhood where he was always in a boarding school and his parents never visited him. If you were sent to a boarding school and felt your parents forgot you, would you be an angry adult? Scrooge in the Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is a major character in the story in which he is not very nice to anybody because of his life happenings. When he appears in the story, he is greedy and doesn’t want to like anybody, he is a very unhappy man that only cares about himself. But at the end he kind of is clear that he was very childish and that he didn’t care about anyone else but himself so he decided he wanted to change his act. While he is with all the spirits, he goes from greedy and mean to clear of his mistakes, he wanted to be nice to everybody, and wanted to tell people that, by giving back to them in any way possible.
Scrooge gets a visit from some ghosts one night. The ghosts show him what the Christmas looked like for him in the past, when he was happy, the present, where he isn’t happy, and the future, where he is dead. He has to find a way to alter his future life so that he doesn’t end up dead and unhappy. Scrooge is a dynamic character because he constantly changes throughout the book to try and save his future
The spirit wanted Scrooge to be happy and not be greedy anymore so the spirit takes scrooge through his past to remember how happy he was. Scrooge felt bad for himself because of all the good memories that were made when he was a kid. After the spirit showed scrooge his past, scrooge felt bad for himself. He says “poor boy” an tears up, then he wishes that gave something to the little boy that came carolling at his door. Scrooge wishes that he could be happy like he was when he was a little boy. He changes some but he doesn't change all the way.
As Scrooge and the Spirit pass through his childhood, Scrooge sees himself as a young boy again, as a result of these visions, he confesses to the Spirit that he should have given the kid that was caroling earlier in the evening a few extra coins. The Spirit then takes him to the time where Scrooge’s little sister goes to the boarding school and gets Scrooge after his father has redeemed himself of his angry ways. Scrooge’s sister, then ends up dying and he discovers his nephew who he never knew existed. Scrooge told the Spirit to remove him from this place and the Spirit said, “I told you these were shadows of things that have been. That they are what they are, do not blame me!”
Suddenly, the Ghost of Christmas Future appears and tries to teach him not to continue being a miser. Although Future doesn’t say a word, he changes Scrooge the most. The first thing Future shows him is three men talking about a certain man that died. “I thought he’d never die,” (712) stated one of the men. Next, Future shows Scrooge a group of poor thieves trading some of the valuable items they stole. Apparently, one of the thieves stole clothes right off of a dead man’s body. “They’d have wasted it, if it hadn’t been for me,” (715) said the thief. Then, Future took Scrooge to the Cratchit’s house where they learned Tiny Tim had died as well as some man everyone was talking about. Scrooge didn’t know who the dead man was. He’d simply assumed it was Marley; however, it turned out to be him. Future pointed right
