Success “One has achieved success who has lived well and laughed often.” This quote seems to sum up what is meant by success. If you are able to laugh often and much then you have definitely achieved happiness. The idea of living well, though, is a very broad statement. In order, then, to define success in relation to this statement, we must first define what it means to live well. There are three levels of success, in my opinion: societal success, personal success, and academic or professional success. If someone can achieve all of these three levels of success, they are someone who has lived well. Societal success is something that is attained by aspiring to reach your own goals and dreams in …show more content…
It is about keeping interested in your own career, whatever it is. Academic success is about getting the grades that one wants. Succeeding academically or professionally is about knowing you sacrificed to get what you want and where you want and realizing that hard work leads to happiness. This kind of success, just as all levels of success, is about setting goals and never letting them out of sight. As Benjamin Disraeli said “The secret of success is constancy of purpose.” It is about knowing what you want, doing whatever it takes to get it and never giving up. If all three levels of success can be reached then one has learned what it is to live well. Success only truly comes with being happy. Happiness and success are the accomplices of one another. You cannot have one without the other. Happiness brings success, and success brings even more happiness. Success, in the dictionary, is defined as the achievement of something desired planned or attempted. Therefore, success cannot be judged by anyone than oneself. It is a personal thing. It is the realization of goals, desires or plans made by one’s self. It is not measurable and yet is something we always use to compare others or appraise someone’s worth . Success, in one form or another, is something that we will always be striving for. For some people it is something they will do subconsciously, and for others it will be something they will constantly
The definition of success differs from person to person. According to the “Poolside” Cadillac commercial, success is having a large house, nice family and a new car. How is that success accomplished? According to the mainstream media, success is achieved through hard work and perseverance. Not by taking extravagant vacations, or working for only a few hours a day. Success for others on the other hand could be having a large amount of free time. The media gives examples of what they think success is, but ultimately it’s up to the person to decide what is success is.
Alyssa said success is, “ Success in life is being in love with your significant other and living a life with a healthy and happy family. Working hard in everything you do, but not taking life too seriously and enjoying the small things.” I agree with her points, and strongly agree with not taking things too serious and enjoying the small things. However Kern’s perspective on a successful life is, “ Achieving your goals and being able to do whatever you want with your life. He also believes success is more in the mind than it is in your actions and physical objects.” He also like Alyssa has very good points and is very well at portraying them. Connor’s definition of success is, “Never have to worry about anything money wise, having a very nice house wherever I would like too maybe even a couple of houses, having nice cars in a big garage, having a family that he cares and loves, having a good social life with good friends. No matter who you ask they will have their own definitions of success and they will work towards their definition and goals, while others will work towards
US citizens Are Not Living In 1984 Everyone should have the right to express their feelings and opinions without the feeling of being judged. Because of the natural rights that are given to citizens immediately after they are born, it protects citizens from their right to express their disagreeable opinions and to criticize government and government policies and actions. Without the freedom of speech, citizens would not be able to have the right to vote, and also would not have the society movement for marriage equality and the BLM movement. Everyone should be able to have the right to express themselves with their ideas and opinions, regardless of the type or form of government. Because the US Government lets its citizens have the freedom
Everyone has his own definition of success. For some, success means wealth, power or fame; but for me it means attaining my goals, always giving my best and knowing that I have tried my hardest despite the outcome. Success is not something that reveals itself immediately, it takes time and patience. I would not be the person I am today if I hadn’t received the love and support given to me by my mom and my grandparents. They taught me respect, the importance of family and to believe in myself. Success is about living my best life and being confident about my own decisions.
In the 1920’s the American Stock Market was booming and rising rapidly. Citizens would be buying stock (shares of a company) like crazy due to a new process called stock margining which is almost like lending money for stocks. But, all people had to do was just put a little money into a stock and all the sudden they would end up rich very quickly. This confused the banks because they had to borrow money from other people’s accounts to pay others and it got out of hand very very fast. But, the stock market kept on rising since people were making a lot of money and deciding to buy more stock, which confused the banks even more. In 1929, the stock market crashed due to the banks running out of money and no one was buying any stock. This caused many people employed to loose their jobs since the company the employees worked for were not earning money. Since many families were not earning money and unemployment was a huge issue at this time, people who did not have shelter made inexpensive groups of shanties in city areas, called Hoovervilles. Hoovervilles were little towns made of shanties of inexpensive and easy to find material such as cardboard and newspaper. In Hoovervilles there was not much sanitation and they used whatever materials they came across for some purpose (newspaper-blankets). In larger Hoovervilles such as in St. Louis, Missouri, they even had declared their own mayor for that Hooverville. In a way they wanted to get away from the way that the US was being
The majority of the population describes success by the materialistic accomplishments such as being wealthy or owning land, and others relates success to a career. Although these descriptions may hold some truth in the definition of success, they are not sufficient to embark the entire meaning of success. Success not only includes wealth and great careers, but it includes happiness. These three factors are important for success and lacking a single one nay alter the success of a person.
Undoubtedly success can only be defined by the individual. In the video, “What’s Your Definition of Success?”, a man explains that success are the smiles he receives from his wife and child. To me this is the best response because it explains that happiness should be the ultimate goal, and you will be successful no matter the outcome as long as you are happy with how you achieved your goals.
What is success? Is success something that you can eat? Is it a physical object you can touch or a psychological feeling in the mind? Success is characterized differently by various people. For some people it means wealth. Others it means happiness. To me, success means making sure my family is living a healthy happy life. It means making valuable life decisions and having a feeling of belonging. Success is not only about helping yourself reach full potential. It is about bringing others along and giving them the opportunity to excel together in life.
There are many different understandings of what success is. Some relate success to money, others relate success to happiness, but it all depends on the type of person.
Everything present in the universe is a relatable term just like the word ‘success’. Like most of the definitions, the interpretation of success varies with the people’s perception so it is rather impossible to understand success in a simple way. In the present era, most of the people relate success with the materialistic achievements such as wealth, power and fame while some prefer to evaluate success by assessing the contribution of the person to the society. Many great poets, politicians, writers and songwriters have inked their own version of the definition of success and one of the great many quotes by Bob Dylan is “A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do.” Dylan
In my eyes, success can have a variety of different meanings. I believe success comes within a person and their dreams. It doesn't have to mean you're the richest person or have the biggest house. I believe in a more humbling success. In other words, success displays one who has reached his own personal goals and is happy and content with the outcome of the chosen goals.
My philosophy of success is simply being content with your life. To me personality, I still do not know what contentment is to me and that's fine. I can guess it is being independent, with a job I am passionate about and surrounded by people that truly care about me. Success is finding that point in life that, if things stayed like how they are at this moment then it would be alright. I'm not saying to stop improving yourself or that after that point nothing bad or better will happen. People should always try to improve themselves and in reality, bad things will always happen at one point. Therefor my philosophy is to work towards that feeling of contentment. It
“Success” is a term that is a part of our daily life. It can be defined in a variety of ways, such as achievements, awards, and college degrees. Some will even deem success as having a family, having a well-paying job, or even feel that living an uncomplicated life of contentment. But in the world that we live in today, there is not a set definition of success to go by. Only you as a person can give the meaning of success.
As an eighteen year old, the term of success has been used in many different contexts. Although, we tend to define success as a person who has made millions or someone who has broken down barriers for the next generation, however, have we been leaving out the most important part of success? Does being successful guarantee your happiness? Does it replace those lonely nights? Does success replace those sleepless nights? Does it replace the friends you have lost along your path? In my opinion, it does not. Success cannot be determined merely based off of comparisons with another person. In fact, I am a firm believer in do what makes you happy because everyone else is temporary in our lives. My definition of success is based on self happiness because if you cannot be happy with yourself how can you bless others?
What is success? Is it the process of doing a task and receiving a positive result acceptable amongst the community, or is it simply achieving ones own personal goals? Success to me can mean many things. Although I am successful in school, that does not necessarily mean I will lead a successful life.
