Why do people want to build in the sky? Skyscrapers are the most iconic symbol of the city and are amazing landscapes created by humans who reach the clouds and ignore gravity. It implements human aspirations that we want to build a much higher level of buildings. There is no doubt that constructing tall buildings is not something new. The most important things while raising buildings higher are its structural design and life safety for people living or working inside the buildings. Today, as the building is touching to the sky, occupants of buildings are worried more and more about how safe the building is. The major concerns regarding tall building are unplanned fire and terrorist attack. The 43rd president George W. Bush quoted in results to 9/11, "Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve". As prospective engineers look to the future, we have the opportunity to learn the very lesson by understanding the collapse of the WTC Towers. In the years 9/11, the time after has arisen to learn and improve the design of future tall buildings against fire-induced collapse. The building we build inspires us and reflects on who we are. The collapse of the World Trade Center buildings on September 11, 2001, was the "Black Day "in American History. The terrorist attack on the world trade center on September 11, 2001, was
The day 9/11 occurred on September, 11, 2001. The attacks in New York were not the only bad things that happened on this day. There had been four planes who had someone hijack the plane and two of those planes crashed into the Twin Towers. Then another plane crashed into the pentagon in Washington D.C which is the US military building. When one of the planes crashed into one of the Twin Towers a few minutes later it was followed by another crash in the other Twin Towers building.
herefore, I believe that the attack on September 11, 2001 was a devastating day in American history. Not only did it kill many innocent people and destroy buildings and air planes, it ruined our economy and put us into a never ending war. Two hours on that Tuesday morning are having enormous ripple effects on the last 11 years since
September 11, 2001 was a day of a chain of events which changed the United States forever. Multiple attacks were placed on America, the first attack being the World Trade Center, (Twin Towers), in New York. The second attack was on the Pentagon. The third and final attack on September 11 was an attempt hit on what's said to be the White House in Washington DC; however, men and women were able to take some control of the hijacked plane and crashed in a small country field.
The terrorist attack named 9/11 was a very traumatic day for America. The morning of September 11th, 2001 was just like every other morning in New
For example, photographers could have documented buildings that existed but have been destroyed, like the World Trade Center. The World Trade Center was built in 1973 but was sadly destroyed in 2001. Many images have been taken of those buildings and civilians can look back on those pictures to remember how the buildings looked before the attacks, as well as during the attacks. In this case, the pictures from the devastating day in September of 2001 represents a horrid historical event that people still pay their respects to, to this day.
When the twin towers, also called the world trade center fell down due to the terrorist attacks in 2001 there were conspiracies about how the twin towers fell. Some of the conspiracies seem true. For example, like someone or something other than al Qaeda orchestrated the events of 9/11. There is also another conspiracy that seems untrue as well. An example of this would be when a plane, flight 93 to be more specific was shot down by a missile in Pennsylvania.
September 11 2001 was the worst day for america when 19 men hijacked 2 plains and commanded the plain driver strait into the 2 twin towers killing almost everyone in the 2 twin towers and on the plane
9/11 is the date our world changed. The date that will be remembered forever by our nation. On this gruesome day, four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic, terrorist group al-Qaeda took place. The United States was targeted and terrorized. On September 11th 2001, two American airline flights numbered 11, and 175, crashed into the twin towers. It was thought to be a freak accident before the second plane hit. But once it did, it was certain this was planned. Sheer terror swept over the nation as we realized we were under attack. No one knew the extensivity of the situation either. For all we knew, a series of bombs could be descending from above. Hearts immediately went out to those whose loved ones were working in the twin towers that morning.
Tuesday, September 11th 2001. What seemed like an ordinary day, would soon become one for the books. People rushed to work and frantically prepared for their day. The events that occurred that day had lasting impacts on America. Air travel has become more of a hassle, deportation nearly skyrocketed and New Yorkers face health issues to this day.
On September 9/11/2001 the twin towers were attacked by icest they hijacked a plane with people on the plane and the attacked the twin tower and then it started to fall down on people and they started to run away from the towers and 3,000 people died the and started to cry and lost families. Then a airplane crashed by the pentagon and the cia went to go check it out and it was a icest in the plane and they took him to a jail cell and they investigated him for a very long time and then they killed him. Then we attacked them and that a war and we won the war it took a long time for the war to end and we won the battle and is what they deserved for attacking the twin towers and they thought of something else so they put spotlights to reception
What event or day could change how the United States citizens go about their everyday activities? Life has not been the same after that fatal day in September of 2001. The day is known as 9/11. This attack may have knocked the United States down briefly, but it has caused us to stand stronger for the freedom that we cherish. You may expect terrorism to happen places like Pakistan, India, the Middle East or South American but not here on American soil. This is not the first time that the United States has been targeted for terrorism. The United States has been the target for terrorist attacks more than you know. 9/11 helps us to remember that the United States is vulnerable to attacks just like other countries. Could 9/11 have been prevented? Did government agencies share information freely? Some people think that if the different government agencies would have shared information instead of having barriers that this terrible event may not have happened.
The man and woman has jumped from the building. We see them fall from the upper levels of the building, either way they would have died and yet instead of waiting for the fire to kill them or for the building to collapse they jump. The man and woman who probably did not know each other jumped from the north tower, they didn’t want to die alone. After all death is scary, but dying alone is the worst case scenario for many. The attack on the twin towers was my first memory of death.
and not even terrorism in the familiar sense. It was not a little bit of each
Simmons is a 130-year-old mattress manufacturer that was hit hard by the economic downturn caused by the attacks on the World Trade Center towers on September 11th. The economic downturn had caused three of the furniture company’s best customers, Montgomery Ward, Heilig Meyers, and HomeLife, to go out of business. This group represented roughly 17% of the revenue for Simmons. To make matters worse, the foam Simmons used for its bed cushioning began to give off a malodorous smell when it was used in Simmons products.
When driving into a city the horizon is always very awe dropping, highlighted by the various high-rises and skyscrapers that outline the city. The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) defines a high-rise building as “a building whose height of over 75 feet creates different conditions in the design, construction, and use than those that exist in common buildings of a certain region and period” (CTBUH). High-rise buildings exist in our civilization, mostly in our large cities, to save space and money. “In large urban areas, cost of construction is 87% cheaper to build up than it is to build outward” (NFPA). In urban areas, land space is limited and very valuable. Skyscrapers can house different purposes consisting of; office space, apartment living, and even entertainment purposes. These types of buildings present several unique challenges not found in traditional low-rise buildings; longer egress times and distance, evacuation strategies, fire department accessibility, smoke movement and fire control. Dr. W. Z. Black is a member of the American Society of Fire Safety and Engineers; He stated, “During an emergency, the multiple floors of a high-rise building require great numbers of persons to travel great vertical distances on stairs in order to evacuate the building” (Black). Based on the numerous issues and concerns found within high-rise buildings, it is evident that fire safety is a major problem.
