The United States of America is a fast paced and resourceful country; the issues are constantly changing as the opinions of political officials and the people change. I believe that the current main three issues in the United States are the economy, the constant threat of terrorism, and corruption in politics. I would advise a candidate to draw attention to the 17 trillion dollar debt, and emphasize its looming relevance over our country. Social issues have plagued the women and minorities of our country for decades upon decades, degrading them as if emotions and morals were not evident amongst them. The article entitled "Affirmative Action" states that as representation of minorities and women became more and more necessary, a movement called "affirmative action" became an important issue. Affirmative action is not limited to the uplifting of certain genders and races, but it focuses on establishing standards of certain ethical codes. Affirmative action concentrates on a broad array of issues including equal opportunity, systematic exclusion, and diversity.

In other words, obvious and direct forms of racial discrimination in the United States are viewed as socially unacceptable. Asians are perceived as smart hard-workers with cruel parents, hispanics are identified as lazy illegal immigrants, whites are portrayed as dumb party-goers, and blacks are discerned as scary and evil thugs. The ways these races are viewed is extremely harmful to the way they are treated by society. These people tend to be treated badly starting at a young age, making the stereotypes they are accosted with harder to overcome. Racism and racial stereotypes have existed throughout human history. The radical belief associated by thinking the skin color, language, or a person’s nationality is the reason that someone is one way or another has become extremely detrimental to society. Throughout human existence it has sparked tension between groups of people and ultimately influenced wars and even caused slavery. While stereotyping and systemic racism are broad established categories, there are more specific structural inadequacies within them. The United States law enforcement system is a perfect example. Over the past year, the media has been ripe and bloody with stories of the assault and death of black and brown bodies by police officers. Victims are overwhelmingly black and Latino.
