Tackling The World Dividing Issue;Should Kids Play Football?
There’s 30 seconds left in the game, the score is 44-42 and the home team is losing. The wide receiver is running into the end zone. Then, BAM! The home team scores and wins the championship game. The crowd goes wild!! Despite, people thinking football is a bad sport, it’s the most popular in America and billions of people enjoy it. Adults, who know the risks and health concerns about football as well as listen to health professionals should allow their child to play football. One reason children should play football is because of new rules and guidelines to make the game safer. If your child is injured a doctor's note is mandatory for the child’s return to play. They changed the rules to no helmet-to-helmet hits. Coaches have the responsibility to pull a child out of the game if they suspect an injury, even if it’s the star player. “The NFL said it had taken steps to make play safer.” On the other hand, coaches may ignore

Football can show respect and responsibility skills they may need later in life. Football can make kids healthier. Football helps to stop obesity in children by the exercise. “We pride ourselves on our toughness, on our ability to get back up when were knocked down.” said 87 of 91. Although, children can learn some nasty traits like being rude or full of themselves. Football can also lead to unhealthy health benefits. Unhealthy things are broken bones, gaining unnecessary weight and pulled muscles. Although, some believe football isn't safe, it’s clear that football is very safe. New rules and guidelines, exercise and life lessons, and injury awareness are three reasons to support this idea. If kids, parents and coaches follow the doctor's orders, then, kids playing football is beneficial to their social and personal
Is tackle football too dangerous for kids who aren’t even fully developed? Back then, when it came to sports, safety was never one of the main concerns. For example, baseball was played for over half a century without requiring helmets. Recently, society has started to worry about future generations and whether some activities will have long-lasting effects on them, such as football. Although many are advocates for safety, others are arguing that kids should be able to play what they want. While tackle football has been proven to be detrimental to the youth’s health, especially for children under the age of 13, critics have questioned and discussed whether other sports are going to be next and how they can possibly prevent football’s future modifications.
I think that kids shouldn't play football because it is too dangerous. People get concussions every day when they play football. After repeatedly bashing their skulls football players get concussions, caused by the spongy tissue in the brain hitting the hard skull. It is very painful to get a concussion, and leaves permanent damage to the brain. As well as being excruciatingly painful, and possibly never being the same, with many issues. "In milder cases, athletes can be left with lifelong pain, memory lapses, aggression, depression, personality changes, and many other issues."(Shotz[11]). This sport just keeps getting more and more dangerous, manifesting on itself, becoming more and more brutal as players become more competitive. There are
Many people debate whether football should be allowed in high schools. Football is undoubtedly linked to injuries and a case can be made that it causes tension between students. Benefits of football include, teaching students valuable skills, helping communities come together, and also teaching students that physical fitness is crucial to a healthy life. In my accord, the benefits of football in high schools far outweigh the risks.
The game of football is being attacked. We see it every day in the headlines and on the news. The medical concerns are obvious. The game has taken more than its share of criticism. Even President Barack Obama said that if he had boys he wouldn’t let them play football. LeBron James publicly said no football in his house. So the question is asked all the time, Why would anyone want to play football? And why would anyone let their kids play? Here’s my answer. I believe there’s practically no other place where a boy is held to a higher standard then football. Football is hard, it’s tough, it demands discipline, it teaches obedience, it builds character. Football is a metaphor for life.
Many parents fear their children playing football because of possible concussions or later being diagnosed with CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy). Although there could be slight changes in football young children should absolutely be allowed to play because football is a part of the American culture and could benefit the young players in many ways. Football can help a child become physically fit as well as teaching the player(s) life time skills that can help them in their bright futures such as leadership, sportsmanship, ambition etc.
The consequence of a concussion will generate health issues. “I found myself receiving e-mail after e-mail from people presumably motivated by by keyword searches for ‘football, concussion, trauma, disease.’ Every new study drawing a correlation between head injuries and post career brain disease and would find its way to my inbox, almost daily.” (Fujita 3) As shown in the quote, the word football has a connection with trauma, disease, and concussion. Such a “fun” sport should not be associated with words that define health issues. At a very young age, children have the need and want to play football and be a player and will do
The safety of young football players for years has been a long growing concern and controversy for parents, players, high school coaches and school officials, and as well as NFL coaches and medical professionals in America. Parents worry about their children getting injured or concussions during the game. Furthermore, many parents believe that football can be safer and that the organization of football is not doing enough to protect players and their safety. However, to some football players concussions are not a big issue. Some players are too worried about their playing time to realize the consequences of getting concussions repeatedly. Therefore, some football players do not tell the coaches about their concussions. In addition, coaches also have a problem with the safety of football affecting their programs. Some coaches fear that football programs will shut down because of the controversy of how football can lead to brain damage. Besides parents, players, and coaches, doctors have a big say in the controversy. Neurologists, who are specialists in the disorders of nerves and the nervous system, have recently studied the link between football and brain damage. According to Jacob Vanlandingham, who is the founder and president of Prevacus Incorporated, a company who primarily studies concussions, said that “Doctors diagnose approximately 67,000 concussions in high school football players every year” (Vanlandingham, p.1). Nevertheless, some stakeholders, including ex-football players, believe that everything has already been done to make football as safe as possible. Football organizations have made new rules and placed new programs in order to keep young players healthy and to keep football programs from shutting down. The big controversial question that all stakeholders are asking is, “Is football doing enough to protect young children?”
Despite the fact that Football is viewed as risky it is more secure than people might suspect. For example the Youth Football program Pop Warner has come up with has many rules and regulations to keep children safe, such as not being able to use your helmet to tackle. This can reduce the risks of any serious head injuries, such as concussions. This can keep the game safer for the young adults playing. In addition, a player is not allowed to participate in a game after receiving a head or neck injury, unless they receive a doctor's note. This takes away many risks such as causing more injuries, or messing up the wound that has just been treated. Having the players bring a doctors note also benefits the coaches, because it allows them to see
In conclusion young kids should be kept out of football due to the lack of safety precautions, their bodies simply aren’t ready for it and the kids will not miss out on anything by not participating until a later age. Just remember the consequences of sending a child out and having them slam into others while there is a much better option
¨Have you watched a game of football and think it is too rough for your kids to play?¨ Well it's not that rough you have good body protection like equipment to keep you safe. Well it is time to stop worrying and let your kid play some pigskin.
Football is often labeled as a dangerous, unsafe sport, but there are many good things that come along with playing football. In the past two weeks I have learned about the risks that accompany football. Many kids suffer with concussions and face injuries from the sport, which scares many people away. But, despite the risks and the unsafe label, I would allow my child to play football because it promotes health, builds friendships, and helps gain toughness.
Dating back to 1892, a new threshold in American sports history was achieved. The Allegheny Athletic Association had defeated the Pittsburgh Athletic Club. More importantly, William Heffelfinger was paid $500 to participate on the AAA team, thus birthing Professional Football. As the years passed, American Football has seen an exponential progression, including the introduction of children’s football associations. While there is a numerous group of parents who have no problem with their child being involved in football, recent revelations would begin to grow concern in some. It is because of this we must ask, should parents disallow their children from participating in football, or should they focus on the more positive benefits that the organized sport could have?
When you hear the word football what do you think of ? Some people think that it dangerous because you can get injured. But I think that it is safe because they are making safer ways to play football. It is also safe because they are making safer equipment to play in. They also get trained to tackle so that they don’t hurt the other players on purpose.
You are worried about your child going to get injured in his first game of football. Little did you know, there's nothing you should be really worried about. In fact, sports to young children or teens might seem dangerous. But on the other hand, it is just a fun sport for young children and teens to play. Sports also makes kids and teens active in a fun way and sports makes kid entertain themselves. Although sports seems dangerous, teens and young children should be allowed to play sports because sports makes them healthy, higher scores in school, and makes kids less depressed (sad).
Football is America’s most popular sport; however, recently controversy has been arising pertaining to the injuries and violence connected to football. Within the last five years the topic of allowing youth to play football has blown up. Though the injuries vary dramatically, what has really been the key subject is head related injuries, typically concussions. Parents around the country are debating whether or not their children should play the sport, specifically contact football. Although football and most sports in general have injury related risks attached with it, there are still arguments why kids around the country should be able to enjoy one of the most liked sports. Reasons such as building teamwork, physical activity and free will can lead to why many believe that there should not be a dispute regarding football.
