America recently has made an announcement on whether or not they want to colonize South America and do whatever it is that they want with it. Every continent deserves to run themselves and if they need assistance they would most likely say something or show that they need it. No continent should lose the freedom of running itself or being taken by another continent.South America has gone many years without any assistance from any countries and have adapted to their everyday lifestyles and cultures. South America should not be colonized by America because colonization destroyed Africa a long time ago and Africa has not been the same since. Also because America could destroy their economies, homes, families, and ways of living. One of the reasons why South America should not be colonized by America because it could be destroyed like Africa was a long time ago by Europe. Africa had been colonized by Europe a long time ago in the eighteen and nineteen hundreds. Because of this, Africa has lost a lot of farming land for growing crops and their independence for themselves and families. “Africans lost control of their land and their independence”.(World History:Patterns of Interactions, 2009, pg.784). Africa has also had difficulties with being able to sharing their …show more content…
Before colonization, “ with tools of iron, farmers were able to cultivate more land, thereby making it possible to feed larger populations with fewer land resources”(Things fall apart, 2012, pg. 1). Nigeria for example, had their own way of growing crops and and feeding their people so they could get through everyday of living and do whatever they could to provide for their families. If places like Nigeria had strong economies before colonization, why would South America want that for their country? South America’s economy isn’t great as it is, so why let America make it
There are many reasons why Europeans colonized Africa. One reason why they colonized Africa is so they could take people and use them as slaves. Europeans got slaves by either, buying people from their tribes or, using force and taking them. The Europeans did this so they could take the slaves to mines and farms in Africa or they took them back to Europe and use them as laborers for themselves or they would sell the slaves to other Europeans and make money off of selling them. They did this because people needed slave laborers to manage their farms or help work in their mines. Another way Europeans wanted to colonize Africa was for economic reasons like new markets, trade and they wanted raw materials. They took
During the nineteenth century, Europe was scrambling to colonize Africa. Before the year 1880, Europe controlled only ten percent of Africa. However, due to the Industrial Revolution and its inventions, Europe obtained the means to go into Africa and take what they wanted. Some countries wanted the raw materials from Africa while others thought that by taking control of the land, it would show how they were superior to other nations and would gain respect. Some Europeans thought that because they were superior it was their duty to help the Africans. European powers scrambled to colonize Africa because they wanted respect, to strengthen the economy, and to civilize the Africans.
Did you know that Africa is one of the most diverse languages speaking Continents in the world? Definitely, there are an estimated 1500-2000 languages spoken in Africa, all due to the fact of colonization, (Google,2018). While It could cause the mass deal of death, we should colonize South America because the standard of living and quality of life could ascend for all the countries in South America. Also, South America and North America could obtain new and better goods. Finally, when we colonize South America we could make it more industrialized.
They did not want to get left behind in the race for colonies because it would make them seem weak. Europeans colonized Africa to become mightier and triumph over their
North America should colonize South America because they will guide them in a positive direction. In the article “The Independence In Congo (Doc. 3)” it says they want to teach the native races to conduct their own affairs with freedom, life and to educate them (Lumumba,1961,para.2). If the Natives let the U.S colonize their countries they will teach them positive humanity actions. In another article named “Things Fall Apart” it says the British expanded trade in the region and built religious schools. The school system included a great class of professionals based on a Western model. Native languages were committed to writing for the first time allowing history to be taught (Things Fall Apart,2012,pg. 19). North America will bring good education systems in South America and they will expand trade if the natives allow them to colonize their countries. With the U.S
Prior to its independence Latin America had been controlled by external forces for hundreds of years. To be freed of control from these outside interests did not in any way guarantee Latin America a return to the status quo. In fact, the inhabitants of Latin America had done very well in assimilating their in house controllers. They adopted European language, religion, color, and just about everything else that the European culture had to offer them. Although they were free to do as they please and run their own affairs in the global neighborhood as we know it, they struggled to create an entity for themselves. They embody too much of what is not native to their region, yet the people that used to represent their land 500 years earlier
During the late 19th century, many European countries were seeking to gain power, both in Europe and the rest of the world. In doing so, the Europeans colonized many different areas, including India, North America, and quite notably, Africa. This colonization was part of a process known as imperialism, where the various European nations would each colonize territories around the world, and subsequently used the natural resources, and often times people, in these colonies to fund their empire. This would work towards an eventual goal of possible world domination through an aggregation of power. The Europeans also did not want to cede power to their rivals in Europe, as this could lead to their own country getting conquered and thus losing control of Europe and their bid for heightened power and world domination. As a result, they each conquered territory to both earn money and power for themselves, and keep these from ending up in the hands of their rival nations. European imperialism in Africa was thus driven by economic and political forces, due to the fact that European countries wanted to spread their influence, improve their economies by keeping control of their colonies, and prevent other nations from gaining power in a similar manner.
A very important motive for the colonization was industrialization. The more land, technology, and goods owned meant more power for that particular country. At the time, there was a large demand for that type of power and these countries were desperate for the land that was easy to seize and use some Africa’s raw materials like gold, ivory, copper, grain, palm oil, iron, silver, cotton, diamonds, tin, and cocoa. Basically, the different countries in Europe were in an unspoken competition for the most domination of Africa.
In Africa during the 19th and 20th the British , French , Other European nations took over and accordly enslaved millions of Africans. Now in the year 2030 the United States should colonize South America to prevent those same countries from repeating Africa's bloody colonial history. South America has good resources that others want, but we want to peacefully work it out with the United States to avoid problems and we can make a good profit.
For centuries Africa has been sought after and colonized by European powers for political, social and economic gain. Europeans needed Africa’s rich resources to fund their industrial revolution. European countries were strategically trying to one up another for the best resources so that their country would come out on top, while completely disregarding African people. Many European countries came to the conclusion that it was well within their rights to colonize Africa in order to protect their commercial interests. They simply decided to lay claim to territories in Africa, treating the continent as if it was theirs to take. In this essay I will argue that to the Europeans, Africa was just a commodity to be fought over and colonized and I
This would decrease the negative effects of loss of life, and unsanitary health. The amount of education another country can provide could help South America create a safe
Africa’s persistent poverty interrogates the continent’s past through institutions, government, demography, economics, colonialism, and the impact of the trading. The colonial era affected the variety of Africa’s historical development for it was quite the game changer since it put a halt to the continuous drain of scarce labor and paved the way for the expansion of land concentrated forms of agriculture, and engaging smallholders, estates, and communal farms. The establishment of the colonial rule over the African interior reinforced African commodity growth in export. The colonial control facilitated the construction induced significant inflows of European
There were various justifications given by the colonists for the colonization of the Americas. One of them was the economic gain. The colonists would found the colonies to make money. This could be seen through the Spanish Colonization as they would first look for gold and jewels and then destroy the agriculture locally, so they can plant large fields of sugar cane as it was a very expensive luxury in the Europe. By following the practice, Spain became the richest country in the world. Furthermore, the British colony in the North America named Jamestown, was settled purely because the inhabitants wished to find gold and treasure and not work. Thus, they simply wished to make the economic gain. Then, South Carolina was also discovered for business
Therefore we should not colonize South America and instead focus on what The United States needs and how we can help solve the issues that are important. We should also educate other First world countries and continents why it is not right to colonize other countries and how they will lose freedom, resources and traditions. So we can put a stop to
The colonization of Africa began in the 1870’s and ended in 1900. During those times the were put through hard times. There were wars, military invasions, and imperialism because of the Europeans. South America is in a state of turmoil but they do not need to be colonized. South America never asked for America’s help in the first place. The United States should not colonize South America because the natives freedom would be taken away from them and it can cause cultural drifts, which may lead to wars.
