As the type of person I am, I always want to be busy and don't like to just sit around doing nothing all the time. Almost all of the time I am out doing something that involves my family, friends, meeting new people, or trying new things. Most people think that it is weird that I like to be in so many things, but to me sitting around doing nothing is a waste of time and is boring. Currently I am a part of quite a few things before school, after school, or in other free time that I may have. Before school I am part of Show Choir, Jazz Band, Volleyball, Softball, Basketball, and Track. I also take place in confirmation for my church. During School I am in Band and Choir as well. Outside of school I am part of the community play called The One And Only Santa Claus, a choir at niacc for 4th-8th grades, and 4H. …show more content…
I like to sing and I’m not afraid to do it in front of people so I always try out for a solo if there is a chance to try out for it. It is also a chance to meet new people and try new things. I like the social part of it because you get really close as a team and you can meet friends from other teams. Show choir is also very interesting because you get to see how people do things differently than you may do. There may be schools that do the same song that you did but you can hear the different ways other school’s choirs sound and how there is so many different ways to choreograph
If you are not familiar with what Show Choir is, and the amount of time and work ethic you need, then you are in for a big surprise. Show Choir has evolved over the past years increasingly. Forget the young men and women in dark jackets and dresses standing on old risers and singing nice choral pieces. Show Choir has become a mini-musical sport. Many claim that Cheerleading and Marching Band is considered a sport, why should Show Choir be any different? Yes, show choir is mostly singing and dancing, but there is much more to it than one would think. I would know this because Show Choir has been a part of my life for almost 3 years now. I have experienced the hardship, fun, disappointment, pain, time, and joy, but it all paid off at competition when we would go to awards and see how we placed. Show choir is a sport, just as much as “cheerleading” or “marching band.”
On December 5th, the University High School Show Choir and Jazz Band performed. The show that the UHS Show Choir put on turned out to be fantastic. There were seven songs that the Show Choir performed, which varied from Ella Fitzgerald as well Broadway Musicals from Anything Goes, Gentleman Prefer Blondes, and Chicago. The first number was a song called “Anything Goes” from the 1934 musical Anything Goes, which was sung by soloist, Madelene Raneses. Madelene has very good potential in her singing as well as dancing. The dancing in this performance was greatly choreographed by Mylan Biltz. Furthermore, the concert moves on with their second number, which was Ella Fitzgerald’s minor, but lovely tune, “I Got Rhythm”. This song was performed
I chose to join show choir because I thought it would be a good way for me to leave my comfort zone and try something new and fun. The first time I thought of auditioning for show choir was when I saw them perform during my sophomore year. They sang and danced to a song titled, "Till the Love Runs Out" and the sound and choreography they did just blew me away. I knew then that I wanted to be a part of that choir.
As I had mentioned earlier, I am part of an anti-drugs and alcohol club. I am extended the opportunity to speak to young students about the risks they could encounter. The feeling that those students may look up to us is very meaningful, and I feel it is a unique experience. I am lucky to have the chance to save a student's life through this club. Another community activity I enjoy doing is related to performing, but at senior citizen homes. Some of my friends and I often just like to get together with some music and go sing for them. This is a rewarding experience, as seeing the senior citizens smile, and making their day better, is truly a heartwarming experience every time I have the chance to perform for
I believe that Americans would love the Young @ Heart chorus, because it is very inspiring to all age groups. It shows American audience that even though the chorus is old, you can still be young at heart. The chorus was very energetic something you wouldn’t expect from most elderly people, so I think American audiences would be surprised but yet enjoy the show.
I recently attended Hillcrest High School’s choir concert. The first group to perform was their Women’s Chorus. They sang three songs, “Soul Fetch,” “Sing to Me,” and“Solla Solew.” In the first song, there was a good ensemble movement and the choir stayed together well. However, their crescendos/decrescendos were not very gradual and at times they were a little timid and had to scoop to find their next note. Their second song had good dynamics, staccatos, and cutoffs. However, on their third song, the sopranos were slightly overpowering.
Just by watching the show choir you should be able to tell that they are a superior group. What tells judges that a show choir group is superior is that the group’s choreography is clean, sharp, filled with energy, and every member of the group has stage presence (Weaver). Show choir choreography should be full of different levels and interesting moves that include their whole body. Step-touches and big arm movements are good, but the more variety and uniqueness to the different dance moves, the better. No matter what the choreography that the show choir is given, the choir should use it to their full advantage.
I have been involved in music for as long as I can remember. I sing, play the clarinet in the band and I am learning to play the piano. I am a section leader in choir and band, and I have a lot of knowledge about music theory and choral music. Music is a big part of who I am, and that is why I chose this topic as my project. I also plan to pursue this as a career in the near future, and I feel that this project will help me to prepare for the many requirements this career holds.
In my free time I have engaged in playing the ukulele and performing a comedy skit at a variety show, performing a musical rendition of the morning announcements, and street performing. Outside of school, I actively participate in musical activities at Zion Lutheran Church. I have been a regular member of the adult and the youth bell choirs, where I was the advisor of the Children`s Bell Choir, where I assist with teaching the members. I also perform regularly with a multi-generational flute trio at Sunday services.
Music has always been an important element in my life. As I look back, I have always loved singing and playing instruments. During my high school years, I participated in marching band, concert band, and show choir. When I was in elementary school I learned how to play the piano and in 6th grade I joined the school band to learn to play the flute. I continued playing the flute in middle school and into high school. In 4th grade I joined the school choir and continued that through high school as well. In high school, I spent a lot more time in show choir than I did in band due to scheduling and personal interest.
The activities that i'm involved in, inside of school are Marching Band. The Albert Lea High School Marching Band is during the summer and lasts about a week. It’s a blast and I meet new friends, also 8th Graders are allowed to do marching band and us upper kids help them with marching and memorizing the music. I also do regular Band class here at school. I play the Flute and are now learning how to play the Tuba, during the marching band season I do Drumline. I use to play softball and volleyball. Softball wasn’t the greatest, I mean getting hit in the face with softballs isn’t fun, other than that I had a great time and games and the girls on my team were the nicest. I played volleyball for 3 years. I had to skip a year of volleyball to plan my Quinceanera. This year, my sophomore year, I tried out for volleyball. Sadly I didn’t make it. Even though i was bummed out, I learned to cope with it.
The most important activity I have done in my high school career is chorus. During school hours, we spend time preparing for concerts, and outside of school we have rehearsals, performances, extracurricular choirs, and concert tours in which we devote much of our time.
What do you do when your bored? You probably pick up your phone or get on your Xbox, but in reality, boredom is an important aspect in life. Boredom is surprisingly good for our brains. It can strengthen your attention networks, and other parts of your brain. When your bored, part of your brain is in introspection mode, which allows you to daydream, imagine things, etc. Even though boredom can sometimes lead to destructive anxiety its still important to our health.

Mistakes, everyone makes one joining choir can that be a mistake or not? Why is it that I joined in the first place?
