Illuminati and Freemasons Illuminati and Freemasons are large founded organizations, where most of its members are intellectual, or celebrities. However, some of the followers are unknown due to the secretiveness of these groups. The only known fact is that both Illuminati and Freemasons once had a share in sciences and politics. However, the two groups have both similarities, and difference as discussed below. Illuminati Illuminati is a term used to describe secret-society groups founded in Europe during the era of enlightenment in 1776 by Adam Weishaupt, at Ingolstadt, Bavaria (Robison &John 32). The purpose of the groups was to provide fellowship for all the people who declined to support the Roman Catholic Church or the official government by then. The term Illuminati means enlightened, where most of its followers are super intellect. However, like many secret groups, the Illuminati did not stay that secretive for long, and people started gossiping about the primary goal of the group. Illuminati began with five members, but after sometimes, thousands of members were recruited to join. Nevertheless, today’s interest in joining Illuminati has lasted because most of the individuals believe that the group continued long after Karl Theodor banned all the secret societies in 1777 (Robison & John 34).
