Ahab is much more forthcoming about his revenge and vengeance, not only by letting his god complex show just a little too much; but also by risking the lives of his whole crew in the process. On the other hand, Roger seems slightly supportive of Hester in the beginning of the story, he even cares of her when she is feeling ill. I believe Ahab had a serious case of the god complex because he seemed to be refer to himself as the prophet various times, but also contradicts himself by speaking to god privately several times throughout the

Society is a very tricky thing, if someone does something out of the ordinary society labels them as weird. If someone fixes what they did they are then labeled fake and get bullied or judged. During The Crucible, The Scarlet Letter, and Of Mice and Men, the readers can see how society is controlling how people live and how we are as an individual. If people make a mistake they aren’t able to fix the problem on their own they have to have society tell them what their punishment is.
