Socialization molds and shapes an individual 's personality. This process is achieved through various agencies of socialization some having greater influences than others. Firstly, when the word beauty is mentioned, a majority of the world pictures a skinny, flawless face, clothes that spell wealth and a fairy -tale life. I am one of the majorities who picture beauty this way and this is as a result of the most powerful agent of socialization The Mass Media. It introduces its audience to people who they might never meet, a lifestyle which is perfect and somewhat out of reach. As a teenager, I have already seen enough advertisements that make me more self-conscious about my looks and weight. This has changed my definition of beauty as I believed inner beauty was most important but in today 's society this perception is suppressed and the new definition of beauty encouraged through the sales of what they call "beauty enhancing products" as well as surgeries and in so doing compelling me to believe that the only way I can be accepted is through the purchase of these products. The mass media concept of beauty has also affected my eating habits as I accept that by not eating much, I am bettering my chances of becoming a size zero and growing into every designer 's dream muse and although I do not have the attributes of a model, I try my best to reach that goal one way or another.
