3 Jordan Horn Problem/Solution Mr. Kucharik Oceanic Waste The ocean is a vast, and magnificent body of water; it stretches for miles all over the world. In truth, 71 percent of the earth is water-covered, moreover, 96.5 percent of all the water contained within the Earth is ocean water (water.usgs.gov). Comprised within these bodies of water the Indian, Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic oceans, are millions of sea animals. These animals alike are at a high-danger risk, due to waste and debris throughout these oceans, such as, plastic, metal, rubber, and other man-made debris. Animals throughout the seas have an extensive variety of space to explore and inhabit; although, not all animals within the sea inhabit the same areas. In actuality, certain animals are, in a way, designated to a location, and/or ocean depth, and distance from the shore. However, even though these animals inhabit dissimilar areas, the oceanic pollution and waste build-up affects all animals within these massive masses of water, and it is up to us, as human beings, to interrupt this situation. For example, an estimation states that 100,000 marine creatures die, each year from plastic entanglement, furthermore, these are just the animals that are recovered (www.oceancrusaders.org pg 1).
