Springfield was very interesting to me. Going in I expected to just be yelling like a protest and not really organized how it was. The bus ride there was very long I think around four hours and it was very cold. That is all I can say about the trip that was bad, everything else to me was amazing. I got the chance to see how the capitol look, it was my first time in springfield. I also got to see painting and statues that was very detailed and signature. I also got to see how it looks to look down on people from the second floor of the capitol which to me looks amazing. I learned a lot about the budget and how it affects many other schools not just NEIU. We learned different chants to yell and had many signs to hold up while we was rallying.
I spent the first eleven years of my life in Cleveland, Ohio. Contrary to the two seasons Florida has, hot and hotter, Cleveland has all four. During the winter season it would snow and snow day in and day out. This gave us the cinematic white Christmas but the feet of snow and layers of ice also proved to be a challenge.
It was a small town in Cornersville, Ohio. Nothing much ever happened in this small town until one day. A new family moved in one afternoon. Everyone was surprised because no one even noticed the house being built. Everyone was still delighted that they moved in because the couple, Bob and Nancy, were very friendly. Bob and Nancy helped with all the activities in town and were very generous. A couple of weeks after they moved in, a lot of strange things began. Money started disappearing, the lights in the town went out every night except for Bob and Nancy's lights, even people's pets went missing. One night, everyone's lights went out at 11:30 as usual, except there was an extremely loud noise. The neighbors went outside to see where all the
The Rosewood Massacre was one of the most captivating events in history. It all began with racism and violence against African Americans in the united states during the post World War 1 era. African Americans were lynched for allegedly raping white women like for men in McClenny were on 08/05/20. Burned at the stake like Perry, a black man on 12/09/22. They also had their church, school, Masonic lodge, and meeting hall burned down. The Rosewood Massacre all started when a lady named Fannie Coleman wife of James Taylor clammed a black male knocked on her door and proceeded to assault her. In the movie Rosewood Fannie was having an affair with a white man and one day while her husband was at work her secret came over he ended up beating her and leaving bruises all over her. She knew she couldn’t tell her husband she was having an affair so when the man left she ran outside screaming and shouting. Neighbors who had heard her screaming ran to her rescue asking who done it. She had said it was a nigger. The sheriff and a bunch of white townsfolk band together to try to find this black man believe to be named Jessie hunter. They lynched innocent people, burned down houses, and tortured them. A man named Mr. Man, who was actually a fictional character, helped save the lives of children and women and then helped a man named John Bradley save other African Americans who were not
“Bleeding Kansas” had many senseless deaths and tragedies caused by the fight for slavery to either become a part of or become eradicated from the new state, Kansas. David Atchison was a major proslavery advocate who believed that slavery needed to be expanded because of its intrinsic value in the culture and economy of the South (Hollitz 210). Sara Robinson, on the other hand, believed that slavery was giving the South unfair political power while simultaneously giving them an economic power that was outdated and inhibiting to the future of the United States (213). Without ever meeting, these two influential figures went head to head in the issue of slavery and greatly influenced both of their parties. Robinson would eventually come out with the victory along with her “free soilers” group and would blaze a trail for many more to challenge the institution of slavery. Atchison would come to lose his battle and a portion of his great reputation and become known as the hell-raiser for his known and unknown relations with the violence during “Bleeding Kansas.” The events in Kansas seemed to bring up many issues that would come to change the face of the United States forever.
During the year of 1998 the Civil Rights Movement in Kentucky Oral History project began documenting the struggle to end legal segregation in Kentucky between the years of 1930 and 1975. This documentary provided an understanding of the history of the civil rights movement in Kentucky. “Living the Story: The Civil Rights Movement in Kentucky” is consisted of personal experiences of fifteen Kentuckians. These women and men recall a life with a segregated society and the struggle to bring about the civil rights movement. “Living the Story” captured the events that helped shape our state in many ways one being the equal education movement.
Growing up in today's technology minded culture, it is sometimes hard to separate from social media, and simply going outdoors. When I graduated high school everyone I asked “What will you be doing this summer” normally answered binge watching their favorite show on Netflix, playing video games, or online summer homework. I wanted to do something different that didn't include me connecting to wifi or reaching for my charger.
Welcome to Boston, we WON! Boston victory for 2017-2018!!!!! I'm joking... We came 2nd, though. I fully believed we would get 3rd or 4th, for the entire game. After I learned to ignore some of my teammate's uncommon habits... let's go with that... The game became so fun, and the homework so enjoyable. Though it is a lot harder and more time consuming. Seventy percent of the group fools around, and the rest scream at Quebec, every single day. You'll ruin a few friendships, want to change teams, and laugh at an enemy's pain. We allied with another American group, but be careful. Even after asking them for help most of the game, they kept brushing us off...Traitors. On the last day, our home province got invaded, by Quebec
The environment engulfing me was foreign, filled with nervousness and apprehension. The Boys State of Kansas seemed to be a mere simulation of Kansas state’ governance on a college campus; it was much more. Being accompanied by utterly anonymous men, I knew little of anyone in my dormitory. I became situated in the Federalist Party, a conservative body as opposed to the liberal Nationalist Party. I never imagined adopting a conservative lens in politics. The feeling of dismay entered my consciousness. Incidentally, another obstruction entered my path. As I walked down the dimly lit hallway, I realized that I had no roommate. Consequently, I became ostracized in a physical manner from the remainder of the city of Mantey. I fretted that there would be little intellectual attainment upon my behalf. Yet, I stayed with the Federalists and pursued what was in the interests of my party, county, and city.
In “Missouri: The Shoot-Me State,” The Editorial Board of The New York Times condemns the Missouri Legislature’s enactment of a law that essentially allows concealed weapons to be carried in public. I agree with this condemnation, as firearms should not be carried around in public like it is some everyday tool. It goes without saying, but guns are capable of taking lives. I do not understand how it is logically and morally sound to allow individuals to have such dangerous weapons at their immediate disposal. The editorial even cites that “the law will let citizens carry concealed weapons in public without a state gun permit, criminal background check or firearms training.” This law is especially egregious as it allows criminals to have more
There is four seconds left on the clock I'm sitting on the bench, adrenaline rushing through me as Germantown tries to do the impossible. We did not know how this game would go, but we didn't think it would go well, until we learned that their best player was missing. This was a good sign because the last game that we had played them they beat us by about 30, and their best player (Luke Hopp) scored 30 or more points against us. After we won the tip I ran down the court and gave us the early lead, then Germantown drives down the court and makes a three to take the lead.
My home town is Butler,Missouri. Nothing to be that proud of. I left it as soon as I finished high school,
In the summer of 2015 I took an emergency trip to Mexico, little did I know i’d witness some beautiful jaw dropping landscapes. As I witness my first stop of many I embraced the wonderful sight of Montana Dulce as they called it. Breathtaking red ,orange, yellow and white flowers took over the beginning 2 miles with the fresh scent and nothing but green itchy grass filled the scenery. The sun warming and not blinding but just shiny just enough to not have to squint as we progresses the steep hill. As we progressed it began getting a little rugged. An abundant amount of hard big and small rocks began to take over the steep hill. One more mile on the narrow trails lead to wide paths onces again and moist grass soon took over the scenery. Drizzles
If you know anything about my cousin and I we tend to get into a lot of trouble when were together. So when you put two trouble makers on a 12hr road trip there are bound to be some funny stories. One example of this is when we stopped to get some food on the road. I guess you could say that we both had a hard craving for honeybuns at the time seeing as we bought a box of 12. As we we’re in line to buy it a woman with 3 large iced coffees in front of us decides she wants to turn around and get some more sugar. As my back facing her talking to my cousin she bumps into me and spills all 3 coffees down the front of her shirt. She screams and says “Well I should of know today was not my day”. All in all that day was just a start of we came to call the Boston events.
There were two plot twist that I was not expecting with Montana 1948, the first one would be the way Gail, David’s mother tries to convince Wesley Hayden, David’s father, to release Uncle Frank. This was a minor plot twist because she had spent the entire time supporting her husband's decision and even encouraging him to keep him jailed up, but by the end of the book she didn’t want to have to carry the burden of having to be always on the look out incase someone finds out about Frank. David’s mother is very conflicted because Frank is family and has helped them in the past but, she also wants justice for Marie, the Hayden’s house keeper, since he had raped her. Gail in the beginning knew she had to stand up for the native american women because
That was the scariest baseball game I have ever experienced! One day we were at Trenton’s baseball game (by they way this was about two years ago). Everything was going fine until I started to hear large shrieks of panic. I looked up and saw a huge funnel cloud! We were told to stay there to “wait it out” but I thought it was the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard, so we got Trenton and ran to the car.
