Introduction: “A picture is worth a thousand words” is a common saying among people today. The famous photojournalist, Steve McCurry is known for his captivating photographs that essentially tell a story without words. Many pieces of his work include war photos or photos that were taken in dangerous situations. They include vibrant colors and controversial material. There has been recent discussion about McCurry’s work and use of Photoshop. It is said that some of his photos appear differently on his website than others. In my opinion, McCurry’s use of Photoshop is considered unethical. I feel this way because he is presenting his work as a photojournalist whilst altering the photos using Photoshop. The definition of photojournalism and what Steve McCurry presents as his photojournalism does not coincide. If he were a true photojournalist his photographs would consist of true and raw material. Body: Steve McCurry travels to countries all over the world to take photos of different people and places that he feels will reveal something about the …show more content…
He has produced respectable photos for over 30 years so it is understandable that there is a great controversy. There are multiple witnesses and sources showing staged and altered work. A lot of his work is most likely natural and raw but because some are proven to be the opposite, it is hard to label all of his work and career as a photojournalist as ethical. Conclusion: To say the least Steve McCurry’s photos are beautiful and intriguing. I feel that the next possible course of action would be for him to come out and say which photos are or are not authentic. From there I believe the altered and staged photos should be removed from websites and books, but we should still recognize and respect his work that is authentic. His career and hard work as a photographer cannot be
Today, we can find tabloids and magazines on shelves of supermarkets or kiosks with pictures of celebrities or occasionally normal people who do not realize that they were photographed while they were in their home or enjoying their vacations. The motivation for those photographers who take those photos are probably the same which motivated Darwin Bonaparte to film John in the novel “Brave New World”. They aspire to be famous and wealthy. They are truly selfish, irresponsible and materialistic. Indeed, they gravely violate the right of those people to have privacy. For example, an article published in the USA Today mentions and presents different opinions about it,
Sean McCarty. That name may not be a household name, well it's not yet. Sean McCarty has played baseball since the beginning of his time. Starting with t-ball when he was six, the next year he joined the club team run by WYCO, while it was coach pitch and machine pitch, it was a big step up from hitting off a tee.Their team was one of the youngest at WYCO.

It’s a noun, it’s a verb, it’s McClurg! If the river is famous to the fish, McClurg is famous (perhaps infamous) to the liver. “Meet me at McClurg,” or “I’ve been McClurged”... there are a lot of associations with the dining hall, but the last thing anyone seems to think of is C. V. McClurg, for whom the caf was named. When you Google “C.V. McClurg: images” you get some pictures of desks, a book by someone named Emma McClurg, and a picture of Ferris Bueller. So who was the elusive Mr. McClurg?”
Sydney Mcree is a freshman at Middle Georgia State University. She planned to play on the soccer team in college, but injuries during high school prevented this from happening. While she is attending Middle Georgia State University, she also has two jobs: a part-time cashier at Zaxby’s and part-time at Sandi’s Daycare. She also likes to read in her spare time.
In my opinion, I don’t think the pictures were very ethical, because who wants to see their family member falling to their deaths and being exploited by the media, however on the other hand he was just doing his
We had all made mistakes right? Have you ever made a mistake of robbing a drugstore? I'm here to prove that Steve Harmon is guilty of committing a crime and should face legal consequence.
On January 25, 1951, one of America’s greatest runners was born, Steve Prefontaine. He was a very determined young man. His free time was almost always spent running on the beach, dunes, golf courses, pretty much everywhere. He ran four to eight miles a day. His hard work finally payed off when he won the Oregon State title, during his junior year. This shows you can accomplish anything as long as you work your hardest and set your mind to it.

Photoshop is affecting the history, it falsified the history by removing the people from the photographs. It brings lies to the
Portrait photography, and specifically fashion photography, is without a doubt one of the most Photoshop-influenced genres of photography today. Practically every image you look at today on the cover of every magazine is digitally altered. In some cases, changes are very subtle, but in most cases, people go through complete transformations, making them look drastically different compared to the reality. Such retouching changes are so common today, that they are now widely accepted as a “normal” practice to make the model or celebrity look flawless. So where is the fine line between what should be considered ethical and what should not? That’s another tough one to answer, because there will be people defending both sides heavily.
I think we have the rights to manipulate pictures. Before Photoshop, photographers were manipulating pictures by painting, using ink, and by putting two pictures together and retaking photographs of those two and creates one photo. In present day, people use Photoshop and manipulate images by modern technology. I believe the reason photographers have the right to manipulate pictures because, the camera don’t see exactly what the human eye sees and what the mind can imagine. The camera is just a machine that captures images; it will not translate exactly what the photographer imagines unless they use some creativity. Photography is art, and art requires creatively weather manipulation is need or not. In my opinion a good artist is not afraid
