I joined Women in STEM, hoping to promote women to go into various STEM fields. I attended weekly meetings for this club where we would conduct science experiments, learn how to code, and compete in engineering competitions. I also joined Biotechnology Club, a club that focuses on relating all theoretical Biology concepts to real-life application in laboratories. I attended weekly meetings for this club as well, learning about controversial topics such as GMO’s and the ethics of genetic engineering. My keen interest in these two clubs became stronger as I soon became Director of Public Relations for Women in STEM and President of Biotechnology Club. My purpose in Women in STEM was to get young women interested in scientific and technological fields, fields that young women often shy away from. My role in Biotechnology Club was to provide students exposure to different kinds of lab work performed by scientists. I found various experiments for club members to do by researching similar experiments that scientists did, but simplifying them for the students. Through my experiences from these two clubs, I furthered my interest in

As a child and even as a teenager one tends to make dreams and set goals for life. On occasion these goals are far stretched and sometimes even fairy-tale like, we tend to see life through a rose-colored glass, not taking into account the many sidetracks life throws our way. At that stage in life our goals tend to be less focused and somewhat unreachable. However, the process of growing up, or maturing, tends organized and center our goals, we learn to make compromises and set goals for our goals. There are different types of goals, short term and long term. I have learned to separate the many goals I have into three main categories: family, professional and personal.
