Years after the Berlin Conference, between 1884-1885 European imperialist powers pushed their way into Africa to be able to colonize land. The future of Africa was determined by these European Countries, while some Africans stood and watched others took a stand in trying to protect their land. Some of the Africans gave in peacefully (Docs.1,4,3), others promised to give in non-violently (Docs. 2,6) and lastly those that wanted to resist violently (Docs. 5,7,9). The first of the Africans were those that gave over their land peacefully, and diplomatic. These were Africans that were very scared of the Europeans and gave in without a fight. Document One written by the Royal Niger Company, states that they pledge themselves not to enter any war with other tribes. This document is important because it shows that some tribe didn't have a choice to fight to keep their land. When the Dutch came in they they pushed the tribes off their land which caused the tribes to fight other tribes for land. This document states that they were not going to do that without the sanction of the Royal Niger Company. The tribe's foreign affairs were controlled by the Royal Niger Company meaning if they want to keep their land they couldn't without permission from the Royal Niger Company. This impacts the tribes because they could not stand up for themselves and their land, this is impactful because the Royal Niger Company wouldn't give them permission to fight the other tribes which just lead to
