Chapter 13: Tips and Tricks

Every blogger learns tips and tricks along the way. Many bloggers have to learn some of these on their own and struggle during their journey. Good news for, I’m going to put these tips and tricks into this one book for you.

Write for Your Readers: Here’s your first tip. Instead of trying so hard to write for SEO, write for your readers first. When you start focusing too much on SEO, you forget to write for your readers. Write your post for them, giving them the content they are looking for. If you’re writing about blogging, help your readers by giving them the blogging tips they need. Then go back and edit for SEO, but don’t make that your focus. When you start focusing on SEO first, your posts start to come …show more content…

Google lists local places first in a search. When you search for a business on Google, notice that all the local places that have to do with your search come up first. For example, if you were to do a search for Best Buy, you will get an ad, but your nearest Best Buy stores show up first in the search results, then the actual website. This works for all Google searches.

If you have a business and want it to show up locally for people, add your address to your website and your social media accounts. Google will use that and start listing your business near the top (if you are still using proper SEO strategies). If you want to really boost your ranking potential, get yourself listed on sites that rate companies, such as Angie’s List. The more people that give you good stars or complimentary reviews, the higher your local business will rank.

Do Your Research: How many times have we gone over this throughout the book? Doing your research is key in having a successful blog. You must make sure that there is a market for what you are trying to bring to the table. If the market is already saturated, time to rethink what it is you are trying to do with your blog. Don’t be afraid of digging deeper and coming up with a more narrowed version of your original niche idea.

Research your competitors. See what they are doing with their blogs and check out their ranking. What are they selling? Why is their blog
