Google lists local places first in a search. When you search for a business on Google, notice that all the local places that have to do with your search come up first. If you have a business and want it to show up locally for people, add your address to your website and your social media accounts. Google will use that and start listing your business near the top (if you are still using proper SEO strategies). If you want to really boost your ranking potential, get yourself listed on sites that rate companies, such as Angie’s List. The more people that give you good stars or complimentary reviews, the higher your local business will rank.
Do Your Research: How many times have we gone over this throughout the book? Doing your research is key in having a successful blog. You must make sure that there is a market for what you are trying to bring to the table. If the market is already saturated, time to rethink what it is you are trying to do with your blog. Don’t be afraid of digging deeper and coming up with a more narrowed version of your original niche idea.

Leaving meaningful comments on the right blogs can forge connections with the right people. Even the biggest blogs out there appreciate receiving well thought out comments. Avoid leaving simple compliments and provide some added value to the piece.
The most important thing you want to remember about blogs is to offer relevant and practical information that your market is interested in and actively searching for. This establishes crediblity and trust in the eyes of your visitors. Be sure to keep your blog updated on a regular basis with fresh and exciting content. For example, if you're running a tax office with prospects being from the low to middle income range, then your blog may not just have tax advice on it. You may also want to include general interest topics. These can range from money saving tips, budgeting advice, weight loss, fitness and Christmas shopping tips. Your goal here is to create a healthy buzz around your company and what you have to offer.
