When writing the final prose essay, I was not feeling very confident that I would increase in score from my previous 2. My prewriting was nonexistent and I wrote the entire essay in less than twenty minutes with little understanding of the prompt and what it was asking for. That being said, I somehow managed to score a 5 on my prose essay so I must have done something right.

It has recently been brought to my attention that our school is looking to adopt a sustainable menu into our meal program and I would like to give my viewpoint on the matter. As one many students here at Oxford Academy this change will affect me directly. Although people may at first oppose this conversion I think if we are able to overcome the first obstacles, this change would bring a great positive impact to the environment and the health of our students.

Going to college will set the basis for your career pathway in the future. High school students contemplate that college is not the right choice for them, but there are multiple benefits that come with a college degree. If students decide to attend college, they may considerate it a waste of time and stress. Unlike high school for some, college needs taken seriously. Attending college prepares and gives you knowledge on what to expect when you start the career. Those who attend college are more than likely to get a higher wage job then individuals who decided not to join.

The first time this theme is revealed in the poem “Blackberry-Picking” is while the author describes the first blackberry ripens. Now that I am in college, I have pondered upon whether a liberal arts education is better than a vocational education; a topic that did not cross my mind in high school. As students wanting to achieve a higher education, we have to think about what we want for ourselves. People have many misconceptions toward what the liberal arts are and how they can benefit you. We often hear things like, “A liberal arts degree will not get you a real job.” or “A liberal arts degree is a luxury not a necessity.” Although this is what the majority of the people who are not aware about the actual facts say, this is not true. College is being recommended to most if not all of high school students recently, and has been told as a great experience for students to explore what they want to do in the future. “I refused to let schooling get in the way of my education,” was famously said by author Mark Twain. For my Synthesis Essay Topic, I decided to change from saving endangered species to the effects bullies have on their victims. I would like to focus on the physical pain that person goes through, how bullying can effect that person's social skills and relationships, and discuss the mental trauma and health issues that person can experience. Liberal education is studying subjects that you might need for future skills. It might not be something you major in but it could be important for your future. Let say you major in nursing and you got the job at a hospital. After three or four years or working at the hospital you got tired of it and you want to change your career. You have taken Math,English, Art, and Science so you can change your career to something that you are really interesting in. You might have to take a few more course, but it’s worth investing your time. If you are in college that is just based on learning technical skills, then you might have trouble look for other jobs that you later on interested in life. I think liberal education is important for everyone and it will help you in the long run.

The essay is about what Americans go through as they buy more and more items that are new. The author tells us of all the thought, and time that goes into buying new items. Then there is the fact that all of those items will depreciate when you get them home. This is the start of the never ending cycle. It begins with the new item you bought.

I love learning. Whether the topic is on abstract ideas, proven notions, science, religion, or anything under the sun. I’m extremely open minded yet I’m critical of the information I’m presented with for not all knowledge can agree with reason. At the conclusion of my college career I’ll be holistically prepared for life. I believe that’s college’s true purpose, to provide students with the tools to find meaning in their own lives and prepare them for their life’s journey. Although my parents have not shared an ample amount of information with myself on college, I have often been told by teachers that college is a time to explore and find oneself. College certainly gives freedom to its students and allows them to finally decide what they will create with their life. I have been told by a select few of my teachers and peers that a liberal arts education isn’t beneficial and I strongly disagree. As an eighteen year old that hasn’t had enough experience to determine what career is right for myself, a liberal arts education is an excellent way to find myself and my passion while still allowing personal advancement in my pursuit of knowledge.

In the article the author makes an argument that how Indian women and their renaissance in terms of social status started much earlier before the modern world. She mentions names of women like Gargi and Maetri who were philosophers and how they are mentioned with pride in the vedic time and how the concept of “Brahmavadinis” in which a woman devotes her life towards studies has been there in India since ancient times. According to her, this tradition though not universally popular continued with Andals, Akka Mahadevis and Meeras who played a major role in shaping our culture, art and civilization. These women pave the way for women like Rani Jhansi, Rani Padmini and ultimately the first female prime minister Indira Gandhi which is unique for India in many ways.
