THE WAR
The second world war officially began on September 1,1939 when Germany invaded Poland. The reason given by Hitler for the invasion was the Gleiwitz incident, which saw Poles attack the German radio station Sender Gleiwitz on August 31, 1939. It later emerged that they were actually SS agents in disguise and that the attack was done so as to justify the impending invasion of Poland. The Soviet Union also attacked Poland from the east after signing non-aggression pacts with Germany and Japan. The United Kingdom and France declared war on Germany on September 3, heralding the global nature of the war.
Poland was overrun in less than a month and Germany aimed to consolidate their advantage by invading Denmark and Norway for getting access to iron ore shipments from Sweden which was cut off owing to the naval blockade imposed by the allies .The Soviet Union, in turn, attacked Finland. In addition, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg also fell to the German forces.
Germany next prepared for the invasion of France. The French had the heavily fortified Maginot line which they hoped would contain the advancing German troops. However, the Germans unexpectedly progressed through the Ardennes forest and bypassed the Maginot line, rendering the French defence useless. Italy also attacked France on June 10,1940 and Paris fell four days later. France was divided in to German and Italian spheres of influence.
Hitler, used to the fact that the Allies supported his decisions due to their appeasement policy, demanded the port of Danzig from Poland. However, to his disbelief, Britain refused, followed by France. Poland, Greece, Romania and Turkey were extended protection on 31 March 1939 by the Allies. Hitler realized that if he attacked Poland it would result in war with the Anglo-French. To get more support on his side, Hitler signed the Nazi-Soviet Pact on 23 August 1939 with the Soviet Union, a powerful state at that point of time. Hitler felt that the Anglo-French may change their minds about Poland by seeing the Pact. This never happened. Thus, on September 1st, 1939, Hitler sent 1.5 million German troops to invade Poland. Britain and France declared war on Germany on 3rd September. The Second World War had begun.

I believe that World War II was a continuation of World War I because of some not resolved issues. Hitler violated the Treaty of Versailles by expanding the military and invading Poland. One of the events that led to the beginning of World War 1 was: Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism; which stands for MAIN. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia but they then joined up with Russia. After, Germany declared war on Russia which caused the war to expand. World War I ended in 1918 when Germany surrendered. It also had a great impact on European countries after it ended.

When Germany invaded Poland, Britain and France finally had to do something as they had signed an alliance with Poland on 25 August 1939. This time they couldn't back down in the face of Nazi aggression. Had they done so, this would have signalled to the rest of the world that they could no longer be regarded as world powers. The invasion of Poland became inevitable as soon as the Germans and Russians signed the Nazi-Soviet Pact as they had agreed to carve up Poland between themselves.
Its 4:45am and the sound of gunfire fills the air as 1.5 million Germans flood the streets of Poland. Led by Adolf Hitler on September 1st, 1939, this marked the start of World War Two. Hitler claimed the invasion was a defensive strategy, but Britain and France were not convinced. A few days later, the two countries declared war on Germany and started a major conflict. On the 6th of September, South Africa declared war upon Germany, and on the 10th of September, Canada declares war on Germany. At this point in time, Germany is now getting attacked simultaneously by the Allied forces. As England landed in France on 9th September ready to attack, they were not aware that Hitler had made a plan with the Russian dictator to attack Poland from the East and West.
After the successful Allied invasions of western France, Germany gathered reserve forces and launched a massive counter-offensive in the Ardennes, which collapsed by January. At the same time, Soviet forces were closing in from the east, invading Poland and East Prussia. By March, Western Allied forces were crossing the Rhine River, capturing hundreds of thousands of troops from Germany's Army Group B. The Red Army had meanwhile entered Austria, and both fronts quickly approached Berlin. Strategic bombing campaigns by Allied aircraft were pounding German territory, sometimes destroying entire cities in a night. In the first several months of 1945, Germany put up a fierce defense, but rapidly lost territory, ran out of supplies, and exhausted
Poland would not let soviet troops enter their country. Although they feared Germany’s they still did not trust Russia. Germany and Russia signed a non-aggression France that deeply disturbed France and Britain. What this meant was that once Germany took over Poland, they would not have to fight a two-front war.
