On Monday, Taliban forces executed an assault on the city called Lashkar Gah. THe assault started with a suicide bomber and ended with Afghan forces pushing back the Taliban. Them bomber managed to kill fourteen people, and ten of them were police officers. They attempted to take over Lashkar Gah because it would give them complete control of the province, Helmand. When I began reading this I became surprised how taliban forces are making all of this push that had lasted a week and I read about it today. I think this shows that our society tends to linger in a reality that we live in a utopia, when really it is the opposite, a dystopia. We are so ignorant to this delusion, that one day it maybe the one thing that destroys our freedom. I think
It all started in 1920 - 1924 when Al Qaeda supported the Taliban while Nazis were supported by a lot of germans.During the Third Reich, the Nazis were against a few writers, artist and so had destroyed all their work as it was degraded. Whilst the Taliban in the Middle East were focusing on destroying religious monuments. Both of them had the same perspective, To Liquidate things that did not represent or respect their faith. The one thing they had in common was ruling others through violence and intimidation. They were the best at it.
In Afghanistan, Women’s rights were very denied and completely dismissed. Women were treated horribly. They were beaten, abused verbally, and even killed. Under the rule of the Taliban, women were better off staying in the safety of their own homes.
The Taliban are a part of history and people should be aware of who they are and what they do. The Taliban has evolved over the years and unfortunately have grown stronger over the years. They started off as a group of students and it is sad to know that these students who could have started with a good future ended up being a part of a terrorist group. They think they are doing right because they may read the Quran but they only focus on the words and passages they want to hear and say to defend their terrorist group without reading the passage or verse fully and trying to understand the real words of Allah. The Taliban have been around for a long time and as a result the Taliban havetaken over territory such as Afghanistan and many others. One of the territories the Taliban has is Afghanistan and the government is seen as corrupted because they help the Taliban. Corruption may exist anywhere but would the Afghan government be supporting the Taliban with weapons because they want to or because of fear?
One of the most radical religious groups in the world today are known as the Taliban. The Taliban is a “fundamentalist Muslim group that controlled much of Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001” (Maley NP). The Taliban took power after the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan. When the Soviet Union left Afghanistan, the Taliban rose to power and took much control of the country. The Taliban leader is Mullah Mohammad Omar. The Taliban in Afghanistan are an Islāmic group, that uses harsh rules against Afghanistan’s women and helped attacked the United States.
Problems that the Taliban have caused, in real life, have impacted the way that many innocent people in various Arab countries used to live--long ago, life was delectable to many. People lived in a state of tranquility, and could live accompanied by one word: freedom. However, later on, and not long ago, the Taliban created a set of strict, over-the top rules that have not only completely
The word “ terrorism” is used a lot in the world nowadays. The definition of a terrorist is someone who uses intentionally indiscriminate violence as a means to create terror or fear, in order to achieve a political, religious, or ideological aim. Some example of what we have establish as terror attacks are the Twin Towers in New York on the 11 of september 2001 or the Paris attack on november the 13 2015. The attacks were done by two different groups of terrorists, but what people tend to ignore is that these terrorist groups did not come to life from the unknown. What people tend to ignore or maybe just don’t understand or don’t know is that in this case, Al Qaeda was a creation of the United States of America, a country which was colossally
Imagine a world where people are getting killed, controlled, and even kicked out of your own home this is all because of the Taliban. The Taliban, a bad organization that kill people and are taking control of the country Afghanistan. They are very strict, and they have their own and very strict rules that people have to follow. Your family is getting killed and getting kicked out of their homes and have to leave their land, homes and even families. This is a situation in the non fiction/fiction novel, Under The Persimmon Tree, by Suzanne Fisher Staples. But, this is not just a situation in this Novel but, also in real life. The Taliban's cruelty in the book is similar to real life, the Taliban has a large impact on Najmah's character in the
The day was Tuesday, September 11th, 2001. During the morning hours on this specific day, one of the deadliest attacks on human soil had occurred. On this day, over 3,000 innocent people had lost their lives when four planes had crashed; two into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, one into the Pentagon, and one in Pennsylvania that was believed to be en route to the White House. After this attack, the citizens of the United States of America had lusted for revenge against those who were responsible for bringing so much destruction and tragedy among their nation. The 9/11 attacks were, essentially, the catalysts that propelled the United States of America into the Afghanistan War to fight the Taliban and other terrorist
The Taliban founded in the year of 1994 by a man named Mullah Mohammad Omar. It originated in Afghanistan and was created with the purpose of destroying the foreign military in Afghanistan and to reestablish the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan under strict Sharia Law ("Taliban Narrative"). The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan would then be brought back into play in the year of 1996. However, the event that led to the creation of the Taliban happened almost a decade earlier in the year of 1979. In 1979 the Soviets began invading Afghanistan, they were there for about ten years and then withdrew late in the year of 1988 and early 1989. Mujahedeen forces then removed the soviet government in the year of 1992 and led to rivalry between groups. A year
"We're looking for opportunities to do more, and there will be boots on the ground, and I want to be clear about that", Secretary of Defense Ash Carter said about defeating ISIS, or the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. Because my partners and I agree with Secretary of Defense Carter, we stand in support of the resolution, Resolved: The US should declare war on ISIS.
Imagine a community being perfectly happy living life just how the people would like and having the freedom to do what they will, now imagine this freedom being taken away from them and along with it, the people's happiness, all because a group of people want you to live like they do. Doesn't seem too happy anymore, does it? In the book, Under the Persimmon Tree by Suzanne Fisher Staples, this exact incident happened to the protagonist Najmah. Although in the book, the Taliban is portrayed as a cruel group of people who make unreasonable rules and discriminate against women, the book only mentions some less harsh events than the ones that happened in the reality of Afghanistan.
In an age when mankind has the ability to completely annihilate itself through nuclear combat, war can be a more terrifying and powerful thought than ever before. Unfortunately, because of the extent of the actions that the Taliban has committed against both America and its own followers, the United States’ war against terrorism seems to be a necessity. I do feel, however, as if there are many things that can be done by the American government in the near future to peacefully approach a more civil and politically involved Afghanistan. Although my feelings on a war against terrorism are mixed, I do feel that significant actions must be taken in order to restrict the spread of
NNNNN Mullah Omar, the peaceful leader of Taliban, sent his best wishes for Eid to the two Presidents of our country and as well as to the thirty millions of Afghan Muslims living in Afghanistan a few weeks ago. About time isn't it? President Ghani right after the Eid prayer responded, his gratitude back to the one eye leader for his kindness. Doesn't this sound familiar? This is after months of negotiations discussing the differences between the representatives of our unity government and Mullah Omar meeting in different parts of the world, including Islamic and non Islamic countries. After every meeting, we heard some sort of positive notes from the government of our country that things are looking up for Afghanistan. A great news not only
After months of intensive effort by Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, the Afghanistan delegation met with Taliban officials in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad on Tuesday. This meeting, mediated by Pakistani officials, is the first official face-to-face discussion that has been acknowledged by the Afghan government after years of attempts to bring the two sides together. This first meeting follows several informal meetings that had taken place this past year and is meant to end more than 13 years of war in Afghanistan where the Taliban have been fighting against the government.
At this time the United States biggest concern was the Russian and they weren’t thinking of the group they were training at all. This militants group were known as the mujahideen at the time, the term meaning struggle for sake of Allah and Islam it comes from the word “Mujahid” standing for inner struggle.
