There are many different technologies in the physical therapy field, I’ve chosen four that I’ve had some experience working with. The four I chose was ultrasound, hydrotherapy, gym equipment, and electrotherapy. The use of technology in the physical therapy is not uncommon and most of the time it helps speed up the process of recovery. The technologies are not that advanced like some other fields but they get their job done. The first thing I’ve chosen to talk about is the ultrasound. The utilization of ultrasound was thought to help in producing delicate tissue. This practice has since stopped in light of the fact that it has been demonstrated insufficient in this regard. Nonetheless, ultrasound has numerous other therapeutic applications. …show more content…
I have used ultrasounds while I was trying to rehab form a strain in my hamstring, I would use it before and after workouts. All I would do was put some ultrasound gel on my leg and rub it for ten to fifteen minutes with the transducer probe, which is that part that sends out the sound waves. When in high school I had a back injury and to help loosen me up before games and practice I would go take a hot bath in the whirlpool to help me ease the pain. It was a good form of hydrotherapy that I could do myself when it was time for me to take the hot bath all I had to do was fill the tub up and turn on the jet to get the water to keep moving in circulation. I’ve used an exercise bike and ball during rehab after having surgery. I use the bike to help build up my stamina after being out because I couldn’t go and run until I was released. To help get my balance back there was a part of an exercise ball that you stand on that helps strengthen ankle balance. I’ve even used electrotherapy after surgery to help my muscles in my lower leg contract since I couldn’t do it myself the muscle had diminished badly well in the cast, I use to just hook the tens unit up then put the electric patches on my legs and turn it up to I could feel the pulse and see it
As my high school career is nearing its end I have to plan for the future and what I want to do in my life. I have taken a likeing to phyiscal therapy over the last year or so and I plan on attending school to study that. I’ve had exposure to physical therapy when I tore my miscus this last football season in a home game agianst Payette. The whole idea of physical therapy internests me, the whole nuturing a injury back to normal is a neat idea and to be able to aid people in that process too is why I want to go into this career field.
The day-to-day writing in the field of Physical Therapy varies depending on the audience. The audience determines the purpose of the writing and writing style. Physical Therapists (PT) use evidence-based exercises and activities to rehabilitate their patients in order for them to reach their unique goal. Since PT’s work with both medical professionals and patients, they must adjust their writing to be able to communicate effectively. PT’s are just one of the many people in the medical field that may work with a particular patient so it is important that the communication between the different layers of the medical field are precise and clear. Writing to a patient is also important because they are the person who is being directly affected

As you have been informed, I represent Larry Darnell Williams in connection with the injuries he sustained due to an automobile collision that occurred on July 2, 2015.
Per our telephone conversation on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, you informed your VR counselor that you have terminated your physical therapy sessions and we both realize that your successful completion of physical therapy was an important step toward your participation in the work evaluation. The agency has been unable to provide VR services within the past two years and it appears that the agency will not be able to provide VR services in the foreseeable future.
In general, ultrasound is a safe treatment that has been used in osteoarthritis therapy for years. It delivers heat to deep structures of the body, and it is thought that this heat helps improve that way that your body heals. Numerous studies found positive links between ultrasound and bone healing. It is both cost effective and produced no serious complications or side effects which is an advantage over other types of treatments used in therapy of bone
Physical therapy is always changing, evolving, improving, and becoming more effective (Scott). The way it is now is much improved from what
A study conducted by Deyle et al.7 took 83 patients approximately 60 years old with osteoarthritis in the knee and split them into a treatment group and control group. The treatment group received manual physical therapy, which consisted of stretching, ROM, and strengthening exercises, while the placebo group was given a non-therapeutic amount of ultrasound. Participants were required to attend physical therapy appointments twice a week for four weeks. Data was collected at baseline, four weeks, and eight weeks using a six-minute walk test, and the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) as outcome measures. Participants in the treatment group saw both clinical and significant differences in their WOMAC scores and the six-minute walk test at the eight-week time period. This study demonstrates that participating in physical therapy can help manage OA symptoms in the knee.7 Another study conducted by Palmer et al.11 looked at the intervention of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) to see if it relieved symptoms of knee OA. Even though the main purpose of this study was looking at the TENS therapy, the control group was given a six- week physical therapy exercise program. The study also used the WOMAC scale and the control group actually showed improvements .11 The knee group had 41.6% of its participants reaching
A topic that interests me is the field of physical therapy. Ever since I have been playing soccer since of the age of 3, I have always had many different injuries. This has made me want to help people while learning such a unique field. I have had different ankle and knee injuries and having a good physical therapist really makes a big difference in rehab. This also impacted my desire to want to be a physical therapist because being in that environment; it was really fun being in such a good atmosphere while people are usually scared to go to see a doctor. Physical Therapy is a perfect topic I will research in regards to injury and prevention, which is essential part of a PTs job.
Question 1: Structure of the APTA The structure of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) consists of 3 levels, that being local, state, and national.2 This three-tiered approach helps to ensure that both members of the public and the APTA are all served. This structure also allows for the information of the APTA to be made more accessible to members by allowing members to attend meetings locally instead of only having the option of a nationally centered location.2

Welcome to Innovative Physical Therapy. In our new blog we will posting articles that discuss some of the different types of disorders that our therapists work with every day so that interested persons can learn how Innovative Physical Therapy can help persons with different conditions to increase mobility and gain greater independence. Our primary goal is to help our clients by creating individual care plans. This means that each person will be evaluated by a physical therapists so that they can create a plan that works best for each person, as we understand that people are all different and that one plan cannot give the best results to all individuals.
Although healing can be accomplished through many hands on techniques, technology places an immense role in the healing process in physical therapy. First, a form of technology involved in physical therapy that is very important, but not physically used to help heal the patient is an electronic medical record (EMR). An EMR is a digital version of the paper chart that contains all of the patient’s medical history from one practice and is usually used by providers to aid in diagnosis and treatment. Many different forms of technology are used throughout the patient’s journey in rehab. One form of treatment that is used during physical therapy is phonophoresis, which involves the use of ultrasound combined with a medication gel. A principle medication
There are many equipment that are used in Physical Therapy (PT). Nordiac track is one equipment that is used in PT, which helps patients develop strength, stamina, and coordination. Another equipment that is used in PT is a treatment table, which is used, in professional physical rehabilitation by ensuring that the patient can rest comfortably while receiving treatment. Electrical Muscle Stimulation is commonly used equipment in PT, which helps promote muscle growth and fight off muscular atrophy. Another equipment that is used in PT is exercise balls, which are used to for stretching many parts of the body and promoting balance and coordination.
Physical therapy is the scientific physical procedures used in the treatment of patients with a disability, disease, or injury to achieve and maintain function and to prevent malfunction or deformity. One of the most important tasks that physical therapists perform is the various forms of therapeutic exercise that are used to increase strength and endurance to improve coordination and functional movement for activities of daily living and to increase and maintain range of motion (APTA History).
