With the level of maturity of our technology, we really don’t know how lucky we are to have it. People in past generations had to live without technology and the use of the internet to aid them. Our generation now relies on the internet for everything, whether it is for research, school work, or communication and socialization. But as we evolve, technology evolves with us which leaves behind the old fashioned use of books. This brings us to the analysis of are we relying on technology and the use of the internet too much? Despite the argument by many that the evolving technology is making us dumber by spoon feeding us information, technology is actually benefitting us through communication and provides for new, creative ways to learn. Initially, we do not realize how blessed we are to have such advanced technology that can help us with practically everything. With the internet, we are able to explore just about anything and search freely with no restrictions. According to Mizuko Ito Et Al states, “Their efforts are also largely self-directed, and the outcome emerges through exploration, in contrast to classroom learning that is orientated toward set, predefined goals.” (Source 3) As the youth are able to explore freely, it allows them to expand on their knowledge by being able to consume whatever information they want because there are endless possibilities unlike what is done in classrooms. In addition, source 3 mentions, “... the digital world lowers barriers to self- directed learning.” (Ito Et Al) This allows for people to compare with and learn from other people’s views through the media rather than having just one point of view when learning. There is no doubt that there are arguments made to say that technology is the reason why kids don’t know how to write nowadays. In fact, technology is actually a cause of the literacy revolution. As stated by Andrea Lunsford in source 7, “...technology isn’t killing our ability to write. It’s reviving it---and pushing our literacy in bold new directions.” (Thompson). Although with technology, we don’t always physically write on paper, it benefits us because we are able to socialize and communicate via the internet. Besides that, Thompson additionally claims “...
