This is where she first came to play with United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) legend Mia Hamm. Together they become a potent forward team. During this year Abby was named Rookie of the Year and the MVP of the championship game in 2003. While all this is happening she is balancing going back a forth between training for her club and for her country. In 2003, her hard work eventually paid off in the result of helping the USWNT get a third place finish in the FIFA Women’s World Cup and winning the 2004 Olympics. After the end of the 2003 season, the WUSA ended and became Women’s Professional Soccer. Abby joined the updated version of the Washington Freedom this season, but eventually, the team moved to Florida. Through all the confusion of changing leagues and teams, she continued to find success in her club career. In her international career, she also continued to find success after the 2004 Olympics. From a young age, children are conditioned to always think about what they want to be when they grow up. Many of them dream to be a ballerina, firefighter, or an astronaut. With age comes maturity, and those aspirations pass, but simultaneously new, more realistic ones arise. To reach these new goals, these children work toward their dream through dedication, which can be seen in the studying or training they do. In today’s society females have more opportunity to do what they dream. There are young women who are assiduously working to get a college degree and a steady job. Then, there are also women who are training to become a professional athlete, with the aspiration of becoming a member of the United States Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT). In today’s society, women can pursue their goals, however, if compared to men’s sports, there can be differences seen that keep women from reaching full potential, equality, and their dreams.

Greatness in sports is a status that only very few reach, however to be labeled the greatest athlete of all time is for that one soul individual who excels at all aspects of the game and exceeds every other player in that sport. In my exploratory essay I established what makes an athlete the greatest athlete of all time. In the following paragraph I am going to summarize what makes an athlete the greatest athlete of all time. For the sake of the argument to follow I am going to stick with just the NFL. When I look at the NFL one name comes to mind when thinking about the greatest NFL player of all time. His name is Tom Brady. Tom Brady is the greatest of all time.
“Tomboy”, and was probably cut from any tryouts. In recent times women’s sports are becoming more popular, except the fans are predominantly women. The WNBA is the women’s version of the NBA, but not nearly treated the same or as popular. Colleges and Universities have a variety of sports for girls and boys. Some girls might try to cross- into boy’s teams and it usually causes a controversy or a lawsuit against the University. A boy would never try a girl’s sport. Women are very sensitive about their rights and what they are capable of doing in our society that is why they continue to gain power slowly but steadily.
As her mother was scolding her saying that as a women she should learn how to cook and take care of the family rather than being outside playing football. In my opinion I think that football is usually associated as a guy’s sport and it is out of the norm for a women to be playing football. It shows that a girl should be proper and not be running around with a ball or even running at all. Boys on the other hand have the freedom to do whatever they
During this century women have been able to break out of the traditional female mold. Women have broken the chains that bond them to the home and have emerged into all sorts of male dominated arenas, including sports. Women have become athletes in their own right. In the last ten years there has been validation for the female athlete. The WNBA was created giving women a professional league in a mainstream traditionally male sport for the first time since the All American Girls Professional Baseball League went out of existence in the 1950s. And recently a woman made the cut and participated on the professional golf circuit with the men. Today, we see women athletes in the media regularly. Women's college basketball is given airtime on weekends just as men's is.
