The old woman told him that there was a treasure waiting for him in the pyramids of Egypt ;furthermore, she told the young boy to go to the treasure to discover it . In addition, the old lady was not gonna charge the young boy anything ;therefore, she told him that she wanted one-tenth of the treasure if he found it. Response: One of the major conflicts in The Alchemist was the boy’s battle with himself. Being a shepherd in the beginning, the boy mostly put his worries on the sheep. After confronting with the King of Salem, the boy switched his purpose into finding treasure in Egypt. Though he then changed his mind when talking to the crystal merchant to become a shepherd once again. In my opinion, all these fights he had within of what to do with his life happened for a reason because they each made him realize the omens that led him to his own destiny.

Fahrenheit 451 is a novel based on a character amed Montag and the life he lives. Throughout the novel his belief will be challenged and he will begin to see the world he and the other characters live in differently. Overtime the man who he was will not be the man he becomes. His beliefs, the characters who have influenced him, and the ways that Montag changes will all be discussed in this essay.
Wayne Dyer once said, “ If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” Guy Montag learns that when he looks deep inside himself, he finds something that is unexpected. In the book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, there are some obvious differences but if you look deeper you can see some darker differences.
Another specific situation in when people could see Mildred as cold with any decency, emotion, and with some kind of wickedness is when she communicated to Montang that Clarisse (girl of seventeen years old) was gone. ‘’Forgot, forgot… Whole family moved out somewhere. But she’s gone for good. I think she’s dead’’ (Bradbury 44). For common sense, normal people with some kind of compassion could not announce a fatality by the same way of Mildred. The notice was delicate because a person’s life was involved, stranger for her, but Clarisse was her neighbor too. But Mildred despite her coldness and appearance of bad person that she reflected in that moment, she only was giving the information to her cold husband, she could not say anything, but
Everybody cares for something in their life. Whether it be their family, pets, or friends, it is sometimes hard to show all your love to everybody at the same time. However, what if one of these loved ones is fake? In Fahrenheit 451, Mildred Montag is torn apart between trying to love Montag and trying to love her superficial TV family. She tries to care for both things, but this eventually breaks her and she betrays Montag for her TV family. In the novel, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, Mildred’s split personality illustrates the idea that when society believes that something is right or wrong, people tend to conform to societal pressures because it is easier to do, it makes people think they are happier, and because society has made being an outcast something to fear.

The Alchemist is a journey of exploration and self-discovery as we follow the main character, Santiago, a young shepherd who lives in Spain, on a journey to fulfill his personal legend. The novel shows us wisdoms and gentle reminders of how to change our lives from what they may be today into the life we have always dreamed of.
Despite this knowledge he knows that the outcome is worth the risk. After taking this journey he soon reaches the oasis. After traveling through the desert for many days and nights, this place is a paradise for Santiago. He fits in well with the society at the oasis and begins to create a life for himself there. He meets a girl, gets a job interpreting omens, and becomes a wealthy man. When it comes time to leave he experiences a new kind of fear. Not a fear of danger or death, but a fear of loss. He fears that if he leaves he may not return to his life that he loves so much and holds so dearly. When he gets the option to leave he confronts the difficult decision with something his tour guide told him. The guide said, “Because I don’t live in either my past or my future. I’m interested only in the present. If you can concentrate always on the present, you’ll be a happy man” (88). This allowed Santiago to continue with his journey knowing that he is responsible for fulfilling his personal legend and not staying out of fear of loss. The Arab tribal camp is Santiago’s next stop in his journey. He is captured along with the alchemist, who promises them that in three days Santiago will become the wind and destroy the camp. This causes him to panic out of fear for another time, even with all he has learned. He is now experiencing the most crippling fear yet, the fear of failure. This type of fear is so bad because it causes people to not
Dreams, in most instances, are the imaginary scenes that a human’s mind makes up in their head during a duration of rest. Whether these dreams are painfully realistic or absurdly fake, most often disregard them as nothing of significance. However, dreams can also mean the passion and desire of an individual, and what they want to pursue in life. Unfortunately, many people surrender their dreams upon reaching adulthood due to the pressures of society and economic stability. The novel, The Alchemist, written by Paulo Coelho investigate the hardships of fulfilling one’s own dream through the tale of a young man named Santiago.
Within The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, a boy named Santiago goes on a journey in order to fufill his dream and find a hidden treasure. The adventure hosts many experiences for the Boy that teaches both him and the reader morals and lessons. While many different morals are displayed, the overall lesson of the novel is that the journey is worth as much as the goal. Santiago is prompted to begin his journey due to a dream he has in his sleep. He learns that a great treasure awaits for him to find at the Egyptian Pyramids, a great distance away from his Spanish homeland.
Alchemist is already explained in the story as it is the ability to purify your soul, listen to your heart and speak the language of the world. The title is, then, to show us, the readers, that anyone can achieve his/her dream by possessing the characteristics of alchemist as exactly as the shepherd boy, Santiago.
People grow both mentally and physically in their lifetimes; however, the unique ways in which people grow and develop create the wonder of diverse human life. Paulo Coelho contradicts this idea in his novel The Alchemist when he states, “And my heart and soul is your heart and soul” (IX). This underlines Coelho’s whole idea all of humanity’s stories are the same. Coelho shares this idea as he attempts to describe what he believes this shared story is through a boy named Santiago. However, while the humanity and Santiago may share the same goals, the way that Santiago achieves them is unrealistic compared to most of society. Santiago begins innocent and unknowledgeable of the world, and goes out on a mission to find his Personal Legend.
