The American Dream Still Endures Of The American Dream

Today in America, some think the American Dream is fictional, and is exactly what it sounds like; just a dream. But the American Dream is achievable, and has been since the birth of this great country. The American Dream is an individualized goal that a person has which is usually very tough to achieve, but all have a chance to work toward it because of opportunities like high level education, jobs, and especially an equal chance to achieve one's desired life. America still provides access to the American Dream because regardless of background, current financial status, or race, the American Dream is achievable with hard work.

In my opinion, the American dream is still alive because people continue to define what it means to them. Even though people talk about living the American dream, there are still things that make it different to achieve, such as the economy, immigration, and discrimination. The economy affects the American dream in so many different ways. For example, people who work part time jobs can have periods of time where they don’t have a job. Almost 30% of involuntary part time workers are unemployed for three months or longer in a year.

America still to this day holds on to the idea of the “American Dream”. This is rather surprising in today’s society and the ups and downs that the nation is facing. The dream in the past was more about freedom and equality. Moving through the decades, this dream has morphed into something quite different. Instead of what America means for all of its inhabitants, the nation has become more individualized. Society has moved to interpret the dream of what America can do for the one. Instead of the unified nation, America has been known for in the past, a shift has started creating an inconsistency in who can realize the dream. The myth of the “American Dream” has been hugely affected by increased materialism, the gap in economic status, and the fantasy of “rags to riches” idea.

The American Dream has survived through the years of devastation through wars and yet we still hold on the it proclaiming it has either died or lived on but in a different way. The American Dream has changed to conform to today’s society such as now a college education is now a necessity instead of an option, the view on the American Dream has been changed radically to fit today’s technology cultured society and everyday people hear that the American Dream is dead or been revived. Why do people have such different views? Who has achieved the American Dream today? How is this information relevant?

"I think the American Dream says that anything can happen if you work hard enough at it and are persistent, and have some ability. The sky is the limit to what you can build, and what can happen to you and your family" expressed Sanford I. Weill. The American Dream is still alive and obtainable. Many people have a definition of what the American Dream that is obtainable in their minds. People all have unique individual lives.

The American Dream is pivotal to America's upbringing and culture. It has existed before America has. Its is the belief that a person could achieve success in America through hard work. The American Dream is somethings everyone wished to accomplish, and for good reason. However, the dream is increasingly getting harder to achieve than ever before. Be it for prejudice, persecution, social constructs, or even sexism. For some people, the American Dream is still a reality, but for others it will always be a dream.

The American Dream as it is defined cannot simply hold true without preservation of it’s ideals. An ideal is maintained by the people. Enjoying the benefits the American Dream promises requires each person to uphold its ideals among his fellows. If this were the case, the original definition might have been preserved. The problem is that other factors kicked in which prioritized wealth and status among people which interfered with the ability of others to pursue the dream. From there, the American Dream gradually changed from hard work to status.

What is the American Dream and is it still achievable? If it is still achievable, then how can the American Dream be achieved? The American Dream is the idea that every United States citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work. The American Dream provides unequally for the modern-day society of the United States by limiting the types of people can achieve this dream and an example of which would be that someone that is a homosexual would have a lesser chance of getting a job than an average heterosexual but can still be achieved by the homosexual community. The American Dream is still achievable because those who work hard with determination can achieve it.

James Truslow Adams, the man who gave birth to the idea of The American Dream, states that The American Dream, “Is that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability and achievement, regardless of social class or circumstances of birth” (King 610). Some people argue that The American Dream died as an effect of the Great Recession, and some believe that it is very much alive. In my opinion, The American Dream still exists, but has not been relevant in the past years. The American Dream can be brought back to its former glory with the right actions.

Is the American Dream still alive? In my opinion it is not. The American Dream is not something that can be applied to the people in this day and time. It’s just a piece of history that people are holding on to. Brandon King’s definition of the American dream being that it is the potential to work for an honest, secure way of life and save for the future, but it is not believable to say the American dream is alive in today’s society thanks to the changes in the economy.

Is the american dream still alive to this day? Is it still possible for those that come from foreign countries or those living a moderate american life to rise out of being employed and become self-employed? You may ask yourself is it truly worth the time, money, and effort to go to college, get an education, and invest in a new business? Some people still believe that being self-employed and wealthy is still attainable, as long as you put in enough thought, effort, and time. The american dream has changed immensely over the course of time the U.S. has been around, but people all around the world still come to America in search for the American Dream. Sure there are plenty of people that are living it big as millionaires

Nowadays, a large number of people migrate to the United States to work and achieve the American Dream. According to the Article “What is the American Dream?” by Kimberly Amadeo, “The American Dream was first publicly defined in 1931 by James Truslow Adams in Epic of America. Adam’s often-repeated quote is, ‘The American Dream is that dream of land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability or achievement.’” There are many people that can have different perspectives when it comes to the topic of the American dream. Even though many people assume the American Dream is dead, it is a very controversial topic. The American Dream may have many different points of views, but it really does exist, after all, it takes an ambitious person to strive for success through hard work, dedication and determination.

The American dream is very important to many people and it is one of the reasons people move to this country. Even though mostly everybody can have the American dream, some people think it is gone. In the article who still believes in the American dream, Karen Tallulah said “the American Dream is dead because nobody has values anymore.”this is showing that when she lived the American dream she had values that give her it, but nobody has values so they can't have the dream. On other reason is that people think the dream is all materialistic like in the article “What is the American Dream” it states “American Dream has become the pursuit of material prosperity - that people work more hours to get bigger cars, fancier homes, the fruits of prosperity

Nowadays, many Americans wonder if the American Dream is still alive. At one point in our country, people felt that they could achieve success by working hard. However, after the economic hardships and recession of the 21st century, a number of Americans not only lost income, but some also lost their jobs. Although there has been slow progression to improve the economy, there are those who question whether or not the dream of Americans can ever be achieved again. With unemployment levels still high and salaries failing to increase, there certainly is doubt in most of Americans. In his essay, Brandon King formulates ways to redefine and change the way to look at the American dream. After analyzing King’s essay, one can see his view as believing that the dream is still very much intact. As he points out, the American economy is a very complex system that has had downfalls, but there is always a way to get back up from it. Regardless of your economic status (poor or middle class), if one has a working job, it is possible to succeed based on how much someone is willing to work to achieve their goals. As King would agree, the American dream is not only still alive and well, but anyone can reach success.

Being equal means that we all have that opportunity to succeed, it doesn 't mean that we all have the same things. Some people will work much harder to succeed, they should have more than people who don 't want to work to succeed.The American Dream is that every United States citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, initiative, and happiness. But many wonder if it is still alive today. Many studies have proven that the American dream is still alive today. The American Dream still exists because the unemployment ratio has decreased , the salary for the jobs has increased, and people have freedom.
