Would you be able to throw 19 million cups of soda or your favorite drink overboard a ship? The Boston Tea Party consisted of tea being thrown overboard into the Boston Harbor, the Sons of Liberty throwing the tea into the water, and the British taxing the colonists even more as a result. In the Boston Tea Party, colonists would rather throw their tea overboard than pay the taxes the British made. This was a long process that took brains and courage. The colonists were tired of paying the taxes so they took a stand against it. The Boston Tea Party was a rebellion against the British taxes. These taxes weren’t just on tea, they were taxes like the Quartering Act in which you had to allow soldiers to stay in your homes (Alchin). The colonists were tired of these unreasonable taxes and decided to stand up for it. Fearless men went out to the three ships where the tea was being imported and threw the tea overboard (The World Book Dictionary). This added up to about 342 chests of tea floating in the water (The World Book Dictionary).

This brave act known as the Boston Tea Party was performed from 100 to 150 men who were tired of paying multiple taxes (History.com Staff). In the Aftermath, the British made another set of taxes to pay called the Coercive Acts (Boundless). These acts were taxes like the Boston Port Act, Massachusetts Government Act, the Administration of Justice Act, and the Quartering Act (Boundless). Another result of the Boston Tea Party was how the British closed the Boston Harbor until the taxes were paid (Reference.com). Afterwards, tensions only got worse between the colonists and the British which eventually led to the Battle of Lexington and Concord or in other words started the Revolutionary War
