In John Cloud’s essay “The Myths of Bullying” he talks about the reaction that schools and states have to bullying. Cloud expresses his concerns for bullying and also explains the steps that people are taking to help prevent it. He explains that most of the systems used now are not effective and are making school’s waste money. He then provides his own opinion on how bullying should be approached in school systems. Cloud’s essay not only tries to persuade the reader to his cause but he uses literary elements such as bathos and logos to appeal to and draw in the reader.
Bullies run rampant through the halls of schools across America, but fellow students are not always the problem. Teachers bully their students by using verbal abuse, causing unnecessary stress, or putting the student in harm's way. Students need the help and support of their mentors to achieve their academic goals. When the teacher becomes the bully, students cannot get the most out of their classes. Personal cases from students of Tinora High School and Karen Eubank show different ways that a teacher can cause more harm than good.
According to the American Psychological Association, “Bullying is a form of aggressive behavior in which someone intentionally and repeatedly causes another person injury or discomfort. Bullying can take the form of physical contact, words or more subtle actions” (Bullying, 2013). People bully each other for several reasons and there are different outcomes that are a result of those reasons. People can be bullied physically, emotionally, or verbally. Bullying can take place at school or online. Bullying should be a considered a crime, but kids get away with it all the time; furthermore prevention can be used in order to keep kids safe from bullying.

I am Ashley Boyer a current 8th grader at Mechanicsburg Middle School. I don't think that I have a lot of great qualities, but I am a great listener and good in difficult situation. For example, I have helped one person through depression and now with their anxiety. I also helped another person who was suicidal and had depression, to stop cutting themselves and have talked them out of committing suicide on three different occasions. On a more positive note, I have two brothers and live with my mom. My mom and dad are separated. Even though they are separated, I still see my dad almost every day. This is only a very small amount about me. I also have important opinions about our schools education system.
