Findings
The campaign was conducted on more than 3,500 electronic dialogues with the people who visited the forum. Fifty percent of visitors are from Gulf Cooperation Council state, thirty percent of Arab nationalities, and twenty percent from Europe and America. The results indicated that 40% of holders of deviant thought left their deviant ideas; sixty percent of holders of deviant thought left the most serious terrorist ideas during the past seven years. After scrutinizing more than 3.500-documented dialogue across the Web, with visitors from 107 countries around the world, we can say that the result is a strong indicator of the success of the campaign at local and global level. This is according to the evidence from the expert of policy and law at Harvard University Dr. Stern reviewed in his article "Sakinah Campaign and its mechanism in confronting extremism." As well, a report submitted to the Congress praised the efforts of the Kingdom in the fighting extremist thought, and the experience of Sakinah Campaign as a model for treatment and intellectual confrontation (Al-Bader, 2006).
Recommendations
There are some suggestions that may be useful in combating and reducing terrorism, along with Sakinah Campaign.
The family is the starting point. No one disagrees on the importance of family’s role in treating behavioral and intellectual deviations in the community, especially those threatening children. Family, with other elements and pillars, constitute community’s
Socially and Emotionally the family is a big influence in a child’s development. Parents have a big role by providing care and guidance for their development. Unfortunately some families cannot promote the development of a child because of the conflict among the parents. A single parent can have difficulties in boosting a better development in children and young people, sometimes a child is separated from its siblings and this can affect them too.
My understanding of extremism is that it’s a term used to describe the actions or ideologies of individuals or groups outside the perceived political center of a society; or otherwise claimed to violate common moral standards. In democratic societies, individuals or groups which advocate that democracy should be replaced with some kind of authoritarian regime are usually branded extremists.
Moreover, a deteriorating structure within a family impacts children from a very young age. They start to get neglected and eventually accept the difficulties. A study was done on kindergarten boys from low socioeconomic neighborhoods in Canada and it found that boys raised in adverse family environments are at a high risk of engaging in deviant peer groups (Lacourse et al., 2006). This indicates that when a child is not cared for appropriately, they are capable of doing as they wish. For the reason that some families have a complex structure and are hard to cope with, youth replace them with a gang which can be seen as a surrogate family. Mackay (2005) depicts that adverse conditions such as parental separation have shown to result in significant
Sami Omar al-Hussayen was a seemingly normal doctoral student. He was living in Moscow, Idaho, working on a degree in computer science. He enjoyed his family life, with his wife and three sons. He was a leader among the Muslim students, and he decried what occurred in the name of Islam on 9/11. This idealic life, however, came to and end when, to the shock of even his neighbors who considered him to be a gentle and upstanding man, al-Hussayen was accused of providing “material support to terrorists” (Herman, 2011, p. 23). Al-Hussayen volunteered to be a webmaster for the Islamic Assembly of North America (IANA), and was found to have posted militant ideas on the website, as well as routing, to the organization, “thousands of dollars he
Thus, they don’t have a healthy family environment and support that they need at this early age. Second, we observed the children’s behavior either aggressive or hesitant. They demonstrated very poor social skills with other teachers and kids. Second, there are many children who suffer verbal, mental and physical abuse. Moreover, it is observed that many children do not have enough parental support. Parents of these children often do not have a stable job and some of them live in shelters. They are often reported as drug/alcohol addicts. Additionally, it is observed that these children have more than two siblings on average. Assessing all these factors, we realized the need of change in children’s routine while they are at the
Islam certainly is considered the second largest religion in the earth. Today, more than ever approximately billion or more of people follow the Islam across the world. Indeed, the majority of Islam’s followers believe that the Islam is a message of peace and tolerance. Meanwhile, they against violence everywhere. Unfortunately, the terrorist attack which occurred in New York City on September 11th, 2001 causes misunderstanding and an unpleasant stereotype of Islam and Islamic societies as the wickedness producer. Nowadays, some of the people particularly who live in the North America and political parties blame the Islam and endeavor to isolate it because they have a phobia from the Islam and Sariah law. The current essay will discuss the
According to Bartollas, 263, the family represents the primary agent for the socialization of the children. The family gives identity to a child, and is responsible in teaching good morals and lessons, caring and loving them and they are to discipline the children. A family must provide not just the basic needs but also the emotional and social needs of a child. Yet not all families comply with these responsibilities. More often these responsibilities are neglected causing a child’s misbehavior. Family problem is seen to be the most common reason why there are Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) as cited in the study of Escoton,
Like twentieth century totalitarians, today's Islamic fundamentalist fanatics are convinced that they posses absolute truth. This truth is immune from refutation or criticism. They believe that force and terror are necessary to establish a utopia in place of the current decadent and corrupt world. Unlike the followers from the past centuries, today's terrorists draw inspiration from religious radicalism. Therefore religion marks the clearest difference from the "old" terrorism. Now the need to be heard is not only an expression
For many Americans, September 11th 2001 gave insight for the first time about Islamic extremism and that even America was vulnerable to attacks on a grand scale. Aside from promoting fear among Americans, the motivations backing the attacks and the messages expressed thereafter through broadcasted beheadings, kidnappings, suicide bombings, and other attempted attacks in and outside of United States borders have attracted some American citizens to join the global jihad. In recent months, the Al Qaeda splinter group ISIS have made headlines for their recruitment of American citizens unbiased of age, gender, or ethnicity. In fact, associations to the group inside the United States are targeting individuals to join the cause. To understand why the idea of radical Islam is so appealing to individuals, it is important to first identify the history and grievances associated with the west that created the foundation for their religious ideology, ultimately leading to the only course of action being violence. With their grievances towards the West builing up long before that fateful day in September 2001, and how the opportunity of utilizing the internet and media to spread their message globally, at the click of a mouse. (FIX THIS!!!!!!!!) “what was once an obscure movement on the other side of the world has become the subject of unprecedented attention.”
When the term “Terrorist” is the topic of conversation in businesses or social gatherings, images of individuals wearing mask or head gear come to mind. However, todays’ terrorist is hard to pinpoint because of their ambiguous character/feature. Unlike traditionally armed, and uniformed soldiers, terrorists may be any person representing any country around the world. Once considered uneducated, cladded middle-eastern attire, or a rogue demeanor depicted by a lack of grooming standards. Most Americans view middle easterners involved in terrorist activities to look like Osama Bin Laden or somewhat similar.
As you noted, the presence of radical Islam and jihadists in the United States is undeniable. “By some measure Islam is the fastest-growing religion in the United States, and the last decade has seen a rapid expansion of Muslim institutions across the country” (Webb & Korb, 2013). The radicalization from mosques and social media platforms throughout the United States has created an underground network that is breeding Islamic extremists like Omar Mateen, who adhere to Jihadism, Islamism and Salafism. “According to the FBI, radicalized inmates are of concern for a number of reasons, including the possibility they could urge other prisoners to attend radical mosques upon their release from prison; could pose a risk to prison security inciting violence; and could pass on skills used in terrorism activities” (Hickey, 2016).
In the early stages of a child’s character development, the family is the first social group that the child has. The relationship that is fostered between the family and the child is important, because it is the role of the family that influences the child’s behavior. Although the child may be influenced by the father and siblings, these relationships are looked to second. The child realizes early that the family belongs to him. This leads to jealousy towards other siblings because he may strive to be significant, and establish a position of superiority. Once the child comes to trust the family, it no longer feels threatened. By fostering a good relationship with the family, the child develops trust which leads to the child developing
On the 13th of November 2015, a terrorist attack was carried out in the city of Paris killing 130 civilians (BBC src. A 2015). This attack surfaced many underlying fears of increased immigration from Islamic countries such as Syria. France and the Netherlands, along with other Western European powers, are becoming increasingly wary of opening their borders to the Syrian refugees out of fear of Islamic extremism―and with good reason. Previous to the Paris Attacks― in January of this year―France witnessed another terrorist attack at the headquarter of a satirical magazine: Charlie Hebdo (BBC src. B 2015). The Netherlands has also fallen prey to Islamic extremist violence in the case of the public murder of Theo Van Gogh, a controversial film
Imagine waking up one morning, walking out of your house, and seeing men with rifles walking up and down the streets of your neighborhood. The armed men directing traffic, checking businesses, telling the women how to dress. It would not be a pleasant morning would it? This is what Syria and Iraq have been experiencing with the Islamic State taking over the two countries. The armed men telling people what to do, inspecting everything, and controlling all the movement is the least of Syria and Iraq’s problems. The Islamic state has committed various acts of violence in both countries. The Islamic State has to be put to a stop if not by the countries surrounding it, than by the United States before it causes more destruction in other places.
Finally, Terrorism is to create the terror and to decrease the country’s growth economically and financially.Economy plays a major role in stopping terrorism. For instance: Grant funding to prevent terrorist attacks, it could help full in finding terrorist, protect against and respond in specific way or recover from threats. State and local emergency improve. Every country must cut their source of funding like terrorist finance their activities from illegal drug trade, smuggling, and counter feit currency. A globally coordinated action must be taken to control it and our oard and customs point should be modernized. Globally should also cut their source of recruitment. Majority of them are unemployed youth though there are exceptions so the best strategies would be by ensuring their skills development and providing them jobs. These regulation and keeping a policy, rules and plans and guidelines could be help full to stop terrorism. For example; following one rule for terrorist that could make much difference in stopping terrorism by people. to increase the security forces as per the population ratio. reassessment of foreign strategies. So maintaining transparency is important to delete terrorism.
