Each year, thousands of teens commit suicide in the United States. Suicide is a major problem as it is one of the leading causes of death among teenagers and young adults. Families and friends are heart-broken and greatly affected emotionally by the death of their loved one. It is unimaginable how hard it is for the parents and how they are going to cope with this most unfortunate tragedy. No parent ever imagine that this would happen to their child. Everyone, especially the parents, are often bewildered about the reason of their son/daughter for committing suicide. There are numerous possible reasons why teens commit suicide.

Teens are not used in handling a lot of stress. These stresses can potentially influence some teens to commit suicide if they are not able to overcome these stresses. There are a lot of stress that can occur in teenagers. Most common stresses teens experience come from school and the family. This applies more to teens who are being pushed by their parents to have good grades in school. They are under pressure and they feel like they have to meet their family's high expectations. They could also be forced to choose a career that they do not want to take. Some teens also come from poor families and they are under the pressure of being successful in order for them to support their family financially. Examples of these mental disorders are depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and borderline personality disorder. Teens who have mental disorders are more likely to commit suicide than those without mental disorders. A good example of this would be a teen who has been diagnosed with depression and at the same time under a lot of stress from school and family. Not only this teen is already facing a lot of stress, but the mental disorder amplifies these stresses, making it more overwhelming for this teen. Due to this, the question of whether or not transgender youth have a harder, more straining adolescence than their cisgender counterparts rises. Although adolescence can be hard on everyone, experiences such as a school environment, puberty, laws that guarantee protection, family and social acceptance of transgender youth are harder than those of their cisgender counterparts (harder does not necessarily mean correlate with strenuous, the use of harder is aiming more towards different, costly, and possibly more confusing). I believe the people who commit a suicide are selfish people because they don’t think about their friends and family. When I was in my senior year a friend of mine, Jassey committed the suicide. A day before that we both were working on our government project, everything was great.
