At the end of World War two, many conflicts started to arise. After WWII, the alliance between the USSR, United States of America, and the UK ended. This then allowed the communist countries and capitalist countries to have the possibility of conflict, which is exactly what happened. This war known as the “Cold War” included many different conflicts and problems. This war was between two major countries, which were the U.S.A and the USSR. It was between the communist’s known as the Soviet Union, and the capitalists known as the United States of America. It was mostly fought through other countries, this is known as proxy wars. Conflicts such as the Cuban Missile crisis, Bay of Pigs, The Korean War, and the Vietnam War are some examples of major events that were apart of the Cold War. During this war, one of the conflicts between the two sides was the Space Race. The two major countries in conflict would fight in order to gain superiority over the other country. The race to space and to the moon was just another one of these things. This race started way back in October 4th 1957, with Russia’s satellite launch named Sputnik. The U.S are capitalist, while the Soviets Union is communist (The Space Race, History.) Due to the Cold War, the two major powers are always in conflict with each other. They’re are many other conflicts between the two, such as the Vietnam War, Korean War, Cuban Missile Crisis, and many more. They both have strikingly different belief systems. The USSR believe in total equality of their citizens, this means that the government controls everything. While the U.S has the complete opposite ideology. The Space Race dramatically heightened between the two countries, making it more likely for nuclear war (Space Race, History.) Although the two countries never did initiate nuclear war, this was because it was known to both of them of mutually assured
