In the tragedy play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare, the theme of fate versus human error would definitely be one of the main and most important theme throughout the play. In addition, Shakespeare describes the human error events are often called upon and mistaken for fate. However, there are always an underlying action, or a combination with fate which can lead on part of the human beings that decide the consequences for their actions. Most importantly, people tend to blame their mistakes or poor decisions on fate and density. The choices of Romeo and Juliet was not fate, but human error. Personally, I believe that destiny is no matter of chance. It is the matter of choice which we made that determine the outcomes. First of all, in Act I, Scene II of Romeo and Juliet, when Capulet sends a servant to invite the guests for the party, “Go, sirrah, trudge about/Through fair Verona; find those persons out/Whose names are written there…”. However, the servant could not read and was not able to understand the information written on guest list. Therefore, the servant went on and asked someone for help, which happened to be Romeo Montague, the enemy of the Capulets. The play brings out the theme of human error which is often misconstrued with fate. In addition, behind each event that was thought to be brought by fate, there is usually an existence of underlying weakness or error in which have affected the results of the events. The effects of fate gets to play in this tale of two star-crossed lovers is very little, with all the poor choices made by the characters in the play “seals their fates”.
