What I think an Outsider is a person that does not fit in society and people think that are not accepted. There are some kids at school that are like that they will always be sitting by them self. What i think the author meant by the title is that greasers were not like by society that much. I remember when i would travel to big cities there were certain types of people that were not accepted in that part of the world, And they are treated differently by everyone and they can not go to school or get a job.
If you were in a different country and could not speak their language you would probably treated different, And if you try to do something that no one is use to you would be not used as much. That is why i think greasers stay in there groups
What makes up an “Outsider”? In 1967, Oklahoma S.E. Hinton decided to write a book called the “Outsiders”. Social groups are related to Outsiders by making you feel like you’re separated from the rest of society. The Outsiders consist of two groups of teenagers called the greasers and the Socs (Socials). The true Outsiders are those who think differently about the world.
What does Outsider really mean? Excluded, harsh family, different, stand out, mistreated, an Outsider stands alone. Why? Because people in this world just don’t understand what it’s like to be an Outsider. Don’t! I repeat don’t excluded your peers who see things a different way. The way they see finest. Encourage them along with their feelings, thoughts, also their differences. Treat them the same way you treat others. It explains that many people are crudely teased, furthermore, they’re taught to feel hurt by their peers. Instead of not helping peers you should comfort Outsiders to continue doing what they’re doing. Outsiders should not be mistreated the way they are because one of a kind. You can extremely hurt your peers by telling them they’re different. When the Greasers were called “Greases” by their peers( Someone will come by and scream “Greaser!” at them, which doesn’t make you feel too hot ⁽⁴⁾) it didn’t feel so pleasing. So, if you are being mistreated along with considering you may be an Outsider remember these teens. Life is rough, not just for you for everyone. Greasers were all Outsiders in this book. Greasers were the gang of which everyone knew. Getting into fights quite often, plus long hair, this gang stuck out like a sore thumb. Greasers were kicked around, picked on, as well as they were jumped by the Socs. But that’s not to say they never did anything back. Excluded from Soc groups, treated poorly, the Outsiders in this town were only included in groups
What is an outsider? An outsider is, “a person not belonging to a particular group, set, party, etc.”(“outsider”). Is this what you would define an outsider as? Many people have different opinions on what defines an outsider. Some people may think an outsider is simply a person who does not fit in. While others may think that an outsider is someone who is misunderstood or misjudged. If someone is seen as an outcast they will most likely be affected in some way. Individuals deemed as outcast can especially be negatively impacted, both mentally and physically. Society places labels on outcasts in order to belittle them. If someone is called an outcast, that might alter the way they see themselves. This may result in them becoming introverted and shy, only because they are scared of what people will think about them. This will only cause more trouble for them, because they will now be considered even more of an outcast.
"There outsiders" is a book about different groups of people trying to co-exist. This novel focuses on the greasers and the Socs. The greasers represent the poor and the Socs representing the rich. The story shows how the two groups deal with friendship, social groups, and stereotypes. The outsiders is a timeless classic because many of the situations are prevalent today.
“Things are rough all over.” (Hinton 35) Ponyboy Curtis says this in the book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. An outsider is someone who is different or doesn’t fit in in a certain way, which is why Hinton never emphasizes who the outsiders are; readers can interpret this book and the outsiders in their own way because Hinton proves that everyone is an outsider in their own manner. While it can be argued that every character is an outsider, the main outsiders in this book are Ponyboy Curtis, Johnny Cade, and Cherry Valance.
Amid the early developmental years of the free American country, most new outsiders came from Western Europe. A few nationalities were viewed as faulty with respect to how well they would have the capacity to absorb into American culture. For instance, Germans were viewed as faulty in light of their diverse dialect and distinctive culture, while English-speaking Irish Protestants were by and large adequate. Be that as it may, Irish Roman Catholics were viewed as sketchy due to their religion and as a result of the longstanding hostility amongst Ireland and England. In the end, outsiders from both Germany and Ireland constituted a huge piece of the new Anglo-conformity country. According to the lyrics of the song Paddy on the Canal “I often
An outsider is not a specific group of people. Some would think that the greasers were the outsiders. But really it could be the socs too. I think that greasers or socs can be an outsider. For example Ponyboy is an outsider but so is Cherry. I think that she was trying to get the point that we shouldn’t give each other labels. We need to accept everyone as who they are. For example Cherry is identified as a soc but she still feels like an outsider. She doesn’t like the fighting and she has a good heart. Another example would be that Johnny is an outsider because he is not like anyone else in his gang. He is shy and jumpy. But also he still has a good heart. I think the point Hilton was trying to get through is that we aren’t all so different
The word outsider means to stand out or to be different. I think the outsiders in the book are Johnny and Ponyboy. They are different from all the other characters in the book. Cherry gave the readers a hint at the beginning of the story, she said that ponyboy and johnny seemed different from the other greasers. Ponyboy and johnny seen like they dont fit in with the greasers. They just stand out. Ponyboy and Johnny stand out to me because I can relate with them a little.
At this meeting, I was an outsider looking in. Which is something I am not used to being, I associate myself with clubs and organizations where I am the majority. Being an outsider in an unfamiliar place, with unfamiliar faces was a little challenging. And for some reason, all I could think about is how the people I am viewing and judging view me. During the meeting, I was not the majority but the oddball, there was no one there who looked like me or talked like me, I was all alone. And that's how my population, that black community here at Appalachian State feels. During our daily lives, we have to conform to the dominant group, we are always on our “P’s and Q’s” trying to fit in with the majority, trying to make them feel
An “outsiders” is someone who is someone who is different than you, someone who likes different things than you. To other people, maybe you’re an outsider, you are different than them. When you meet someone they put you into a category and an “outsider” is one.
Who is an ‘outsider’ in this story? How can this label be differently interpreted? The book ‘The Outsiders”, written by S.E Hinton, is set in a large un-named town in Oklahoma. It is most likely based on the author’s hometown in the 1960’s and is home to Greasers and Soc’s alike. The Soc’s live on the West side, the classy side, the side who get all the breaks and live in comfort, the Greasers on the other hand live on the East side, the shifty downtown area full of underprivileged youths and abusive families, or so it appears. In their own
The “outsiders” are people who don't fit in but who are they? The Outsiders takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1960’s. The Outsider is a book about two groups of social classes, the Socs and the Greasers. The “outsiders” in the story are the Greasers, the Socs, and the people that see beyond division between the two social groups.
I assume that she meant that everyone is an outsider in their own way. I think she meant this because in the book, the Greasers think that they are the outsiders of Tulsa because they aren’t as privileged as other people but some of the socs think that they are the outsiders because people don’t understand how hard it is to have all that pressure to be perfect. I also think that everyone is an outsider in their own way because of the way people always complain about how “their friends aren’t loyal” and “no one likes me.” So that means that they think that no one cares about them and that they are outsiders to the rest of society. But other people think they are an outsider because they have no friends or no one talks to them at lunch which
There are many social groups however some people don’t fit in, they are the “outsiders”. The story The Outsiders takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1960s. This story is about social gangs which are greasers and socs. These two social groups are both separated by money, the socs are the rich people and the greasers are the poor thugs.
The title of Camus’ novel, L’Étranger, can be translated into “The Outsider”, “The Stranger” or “The Foreigner”. Among these three translations, “The Outsider” stands out as the most suitable title as it summarises the whole story in a comprehensive way. A stranger or a foreigner can be considered as an outsider but the converse is not necessarily true. An outsider is one who is not accepted by society. It is evident in the novel that Meursault does not belong to society; he is like an outsider, who observes everything with clinical detachment. Through Meursault’s detailed narration, we see that there is no meaning and rationale in the things that happen around him. This can be clearly seen through the recurrence of the statement “this does
