The battle between the federal governments, Bureau of Land Management and Cliven Bundy began back in the 1990 's. For several years the problems between the Bundy family and the BLM went unnoticed until a protest occurred in April of 2014 over confiscated cattle. In Early April of 2014, the BLM rounded up Mr. Bundy 's cattle and took them away, leaving him with nothing to his name and no way to make a living. All this was done in the name of a tortoise population which has been slowly declining in population numbers for several decades sense the wild west had been cultivated. While the Center for Biological Conservation believe the desert tortoise is negatively impacted by grazing cattle studies suggest the stability of the desert tortoise comes from their symbiotic relationship with grazing cattle. Many questioned if Cliven Budy was justified in his actions, or if the BLM should have acted with more force against Bundy. Though some say he has acted unlawfully, I believe Cliven Bundy 's actions were necessary to insure the wellbeing of his livelihood. Furthermore, the US government should have attempted to collaborate or compromise with Bundy before confiscating his cattle. Americans have a right to object to laws they do not support. The U.S Bill of Rights clearly outlines the rights all American citizens have to safety, security, fair judicial sentencing and freedoms of speech, religion and even gun ownership. Specially Amendment one states American citizens have the
All U.S citizens have First Amendment rights. They all have the right of freedom of speech, religion, press, petition, and assembly. Freedom of Religion enforces the separation of church and state. Freedom of Speech allows people to express themselves without the interference or regulation by the government. Freedom of the Press allows people to express themselves through dissemination and publication. Freedom to Assemble allows individuals to get together for lawful and peaceful purposes. Freedom to Petition give people the right to ask government to correct a problem. Even though there might be certain hate groups, protesters, or discriminators, they can also be protected by their rights only if it doesn't interfere with other people's rights or gets those rights taken away. I believe that all U.S citizens should be able to practice any right they choose to.
All Americans can agree that America stand for freedom, equal opportunities, and rights accompanied with responsibilities. Every single person in North America is given the right to their own freedom when they are born. When people are born they automatically have the amendments applied to their life like, the right to bear arms, freedom of speech and religion, the right to assemble, and many more. No matter who you are and no matter where in the U.S.A. you are, these rights apply to you. Every single amendment and law (in whichever state-border you are born in) apply to you and your whole life. It doesn't matter what your race or religion is, all of these rules and laws are your responsibility to abide by.
As Americans citizen we enjoy our rights and freedoms as a society. We enjoy our freedom of speech and our right to choose where to live. With all those freedoms also these rights comes with a legal obligation to uphold and to follow the law of our country. Also there are many American citizens moral obligated to exercise their rights but many times of the case Americans citizens are not forces to legally oblige to follow the law. A good example an American citizen has the right to bear arms but also an American citizen also has the right not to own a weapon. It is really important as an American citizen that we understand the pros and cons of voting.
With the citizens of the United States having to give their consent for government options, we are able to stay safe from government decisions that we feel are unjust. In 1989 Chinese university students filled Tiananmen Square in Beijing and protested for a democratic government. Because they do not have this right, they were crushed by the government killing thousands of people (Document C). If the government is going to be in control of our lives as citizens, we should, at least, have some say in decisions so the people can be happy unlike the Chinese students involved in the protest.
The United States is a nation founded on the principal of providing each citizen with a chance to have his or her voice heard, to succeed with his or her dream and to avoid any form of oppression that many countries continue to push on their citizens. As the United States Constitution states, “Congress Shall Make No Law Respecting an Establishment of Religion, or Prohibiting the Free Exercise Thereof; or Abridging the Freedom of Speech, or of the Press; or the Right of the People Peaceably to Assemble, and To Petition the Government for a Redress of Grievances” (U.S. Const. amend. I).
“Congress shall make no law addressing the establishment of religions or prohibiting the exercise of religion in public and the freedom of speech within the press.” Every American has these specific rights that the government cannot infringe on and strip from the people. “The enumeration in the constitution of certain rights shall not be retained by the people”. No person can infringe on your god given rights, there is no reason why a person can strip them from you with transparent cause. In all aspects, you have the right to voice your opinion in the government whichever peaceful way you
They can not infringe on our Constitutional right to freedom of speech, press, and the right to assemble to peacefully assemble. In certain countries, going against the authoritative rule is strictly forbidden and can lead to repercussions. Do not get me wrong. if our government does not like our banding together the national guard gets called in, for example Ferguson and Baltimore. Another worth mentioning characteristic the US has is democracy. The ability to choose our leaders and also impeach them. We get to vote for the people who represent us even though they sometimes abuse this power. The rules in our country do not prohibit us from being what and who we want to be. The American Dream is hard to obtain but possible. We get to express our different ways of life without
This so-called balanced view was presented in a program in which the “most misrepresented issues concerned the economic impact of wolves. Ranchers were allowed to claim unsubstantiated losses, with no attempt to validate the accuracy of these claims” (Laverty, par. 2). In granting the balanced view sought by the legislature, the “program portrayed the salt of the earth rancher as a poor victim of the federal government’s whim to restore the ‘killers’” (Laverty, par. 2).
The article, Washington wolf killing sparks rebukes, controversy discusses the local issue in Spokane Washington. Cattle ranchers have experienced a problem with the Profanity Peak wolf pack. The wolves attacked the rancher’s cattle as they grazed. It was reported that 6 cows were killed. In response, hunters grouped together and killed 6 wolves. This hunting riddled many environmental groups. They say that the wolves should not be slaughtered simply for living out their natural ways. In recent reports, Washington State University disapproved a professor, Robert Wielgus, who released inaccurate information regarding cattle rancher’s actions that rallied people against the ranchers. The misguided information resulted in death threats towards
To me being American means you have freedoms. We have the amendments that protect us, our freedoms and rights as citizens of the United States of America .The first amendment protects our freedom of religion, speech and the press. Being American means, the right to protest. Be perceived of your human rights arising out of a number of recognized human rights. While no human rights instrument or national constitution grants the absolute right to protest, such a right to protest may be a display of the right to freedom of assembly, the right to freedom of association, and the right to freedom of speech. Being an American to me means I have rights that no one can take away from
Although the cattle ranging which was occurring in the west during the mid-eighteen hundreds was known by the government to be taking place, a large part of the business was, in fact, illegal. In fact, John Upton Terrell declares that cattle herders’, “historical significance is not to be found in beneficial contributions to the nation welfare, for they made none. Quite to the contrary, they are worthy of note for the political corruption they engendered” (Terrell 181) This stems originally from the disease which the cattle carried with them, which the state of Missouri suffered from as a result of the cattle drives. Thus, Missouri attempted to regulate the flow of livestock into its borders by passing legislation. This “cattle act” which was enacted in 1855, could not be reasonably enforced and therefore failed. The reason that it could not be enforced was because the cattle herders often bribed the justices of the peace, who were given the authority to impound
There are many exotic animals all over the world that live in the wild. There are many species and some are extinct. Exotic animals are very expensive that require more than what people realize. These animals belong in their natural habitats. It is wrong and cruel for the animals that have to live in captivity when they are meant to live in the wild. Taking exotic animals out of the wild disrupts the natural food chain and negatively affects natural selection.
As Americans, we have the right to protest, and make vocal anything in our society which with we do not agree. We see it happening everywhere today in our country, as people stand for or against movements including LGBT, abortion, Black Lives Matter, and even the recent presidential election. We the people are the only individuals who can make change in this great nation. The only way we can improve this country is by protesting and supporting movements that we find to be just. It is important to stand up for what we believe to be right, because it is our only way of making others aware of how we feel about a certain issue.
In “Can the Desert Tortoises Be Saved?”, author Mackenzie Carro informs readers that the issue of desert tortoises being going extinct is vanishing because scientists are using technology to save their species. In the Mojave Desert in California, ravens have been eating turtles almost to extinction. So scientist Tim Shield has been working on some inventions using technology to help save them. His team has come up with an idea to scare ravens away: A remote control rover. Equipped with cameras, the vehicle chases ravens away from the tortoises. The second method are realistic - looking plastic tortoise shells, which he placed among the desert. Upon the arrival of a raven, sensors inside the shell spray a could smell into the air, with a more
As a child I really enjoyed reading books, this may been because my mother and father would try to read to me each night before bed. One of my favorite bedtime stories would be Aesop 's fable particularly the Tortoise and the Hare. Although the Hare was talented and had all the fittings to be a champion, despite that his arrogance made him lose the race when he decided to sleep during the race. To this day I have personally resonated with the idea of the underdog overcoming any obstacles, and that is what the tortoise signifies. The tortoise understood that although he was not in the best position to win the race instead of giving up and not competing he took his neck out of shell, tried his best, and persevered which caused him the victory.
