The Feeling of Women Who Decide Abortion or Adoption For the women who have already made the decision between adoption and abortion have taken a survey, and some believe that they made the best decision they could for the child because they weren’t ready mentally or financially to take care of a child. Statistically most unplanned pregnancies are in teens and college students and they feel that they won’t be able to pursue the same goals they had before they got pregnant. Women who feel this way also feel that if they were to pursue the pregnancy they would be miss out being a young adult like going to college parties and having to drop out of college because they cannot balance

Ninety percent of women say they were not given enough information to make an informal decision. {More percentages about side effects of abortion} Adoption is a viable solution to abortion which cause negative feeling for a woman who has made a decision. How do you think women feel after making this decision? According to many different sources many women feel relief, sadness, happiness, and the feeling of loss. For other women they react negatively when it comes to emotions such as grief, guilt, anger, shame, regret and feeling of being judged for their decision. Five percent to thirty percent of women have these negative feelings. And for women who react positively to their decision the feel relief, happy, and reprieved. {Need more information about positive reactions} Adoption is a great way to help a family who is unable to have children or that they want to open their homes up to children with a family or a home. Two percent to four percent of families have and adopted child in the United States. To adopt the average time from is a few months up to five years. An estimate of one million kids live with adoptive parents. There are almost half a million (four hundred seventy
The first argument was that if there are couples waiting to adopt, and abortion takes away the chance for a couple to have a child, then all women should choose adoption in lieu of abortion. Though this argument seems valid enough, it is based largely on rhetoric alone. To claim that adoption is always a better option than abortion suggests that simply ‘not wanting a child’ is the only reason that women ever choose to have an abortion.
Abortion is cruel and outrageous and should not even be illegal. Although the mother and father may have a hard time giving his and her child away to another family, he and she would feel better about their choice to choose adoption. Abortion can leave many mothers and fathers wondering all kinds of questions. Some will wonder “what did my child look like, did they look like me?” “I wonder if the baby was a boy or girl.” “What would my child have done with their life?” “Would they have been a lawyer, judge, doctor, astronaut, etc?” “Would we have been able to give the love and support our child needed from us?” “Would I have been a good mother or father?” Although some of the same questions can be asked when adoption is chosen, but many of these questions can be answered, where with abortion the answer will remain unknown until the end of time.
Said by the Guttmacher institute in “Induced abortion in the United States”, 42% of women who who have an abortion are below the federal poverty level. Lawrence B. Finer and Lori F. Frohwirth in, "Reasons US Women Have Abortions: Quantitative and Qualitative Perspectives, Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health,” asked women why they received abortions. 73% replied that they could not afford to raise a baby, and 38% said it would block their career and educational dreams. In a multitude of incidents, a termination is not only chosen because a woman can’t raise a baby, but she may not be able to handle the emotional stress of giving birth to an unwanted baby. In certain cities, the adoption system is poorly managed and many people adopt a child just for the
Just like abortion the mother is able to return to her previous life rather than parent the baby when choosing adoption. There are many parents that are struggling with infertility, and adoption allows their dream of starting a family to become a reality. (adopt) There are parents wanting to adopt, while at the same time there are approximately 1.1 million unnecessary abortions happening throughout the U.S. (for life).Which just shows how common unneeded abortions are happening. Despite the belief that birth mothers are mostly teenagers, women who pursue adoption are of varying ages, races, and levels of education.(adopt) Not only is abortion killing the baby it is also can cause great emotional pain for the mother afterwards. It is called post abortion syndrome. It’s a form of post-traumatic stress and includes symptoms like the feeling of guilt, anxiety, depression, and even sometimes the thoughts of suicide. In some cases it can affect the way the woman lives the rest of her life.(action news) That’s another reason why adoption is the right choice and abortion should be illegal. Even the 14th amendment was designed to protect human beings like the
Adoption can replace abortion. One in a half million families long for a child through adoption. Abortion is the easy way out. Women go in for a procedure and leave. These women carry around the regret of killing a human being which you can never forget or
In 1987, the Alan Guttmacher Institute, issued a questionnaire for around 2000 women who have used an abortion clinic. A shocking 71 percent of women received the late termination pregnancy option because they did not realize they were pregnant. 24 percent of the women were too nervous to have this safe surgery, and put it off; and another 2 percent of women were forced to wait because of fetal issues going on with their pregnancy (Finer 3).
Choosing to go through an abortion and placing a child up for adoption are quite different matters to analyze. Simply, going through with an abortion is murder by killing a child. Where as, if you were to put a child up for adoption you are giving that child a chance to live. Enduring an abortion may to some people be a convenience; abortion is a quick way of dealing with this problem. Adoption can be seen as a long and grueling process. However, they are both mentally damaging; in both cases the parents, or parent have to give up a child and a life. In some adoption cases some people choose to take back their child; but for others the decision is indefinite. Both situations must be seriously considered and measured.
As a result of the Supreme Courts ruling the U.S. has been split into two sides, those for abortion and those against. The Pro-Choice campaign has many key arguments as to why it should be legal. The most popular is that it is the best option when it comes to rape or incest. The reasoning behind this is that the psychological trauma of an abortion is lees than of the woman gives birth to the child. The woman could hate the child or project their negative emotions on the child. Thus causing the child to grow up with the feelings of being unloved. the next argument is that adoption is not an alternative to abortion. This is because the women still has to make the decision of whether or not give the child up for adoption. Research has shown that
No, there are multiple reasons why women might seek an abortion. Adoption does not cover all of them. For one carrying around another human being in your stomach for nine months could be a huge inconvenience. (Millstein) For two if a teenager or young adult gets pregnant they are shunned and shamed by their families, friends, employers, and classmates. This could lead to even bigger problems. What if the teenager or young adult is abused by angry and frustrated parents or partners? What if the teenager or young adult’s parents kick them out of the house for being pregnant? What if a teenager or young adult is trying to get through college? What if they are college athletes? For example Sydney Leroux who plays for the United States Women’s National team, and her husband Dom Dwyer announced in January 2016, that they are expecting a child in September 2016. Sydney Leroux will miss the Rio Olympics this summer due to this pregnancy. The United States Women’s National team are seeking their fourth gold medal at the Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro. (Sydney) The Olympics are only held every 4 years, athletes dedicate their entire striving to play in the Olympics. Sydney Leroux is going to miss out
Imagine, Riley, a seventeen-year-old girl walking home late at night after a party until she was approached by a male in all black attire and worn out sneakers… A couple months later, Riley was suspicious as she was feeling sick and have not had her monthly menstruation for the past two months. As one can tell, an unplanned pregnancy can be devastating and life altering. Having an unwanted baby inside an individual can lead the women or the parents to make a big decision between abortion and adoption. Some women choose to keep their baby and raise it themselves, while others consider the options of adoption or abortion, as it seems to be the best option for them and their unborn child. Adoption and abortion are
“I learned that I was pregnant at the age of eighteen, shortly after moving in with my boyfriend. Feeling scared and insecure, I didn't know how a baby would fit into my future. Upon seeking counsel from friends and family, it seemed logical to consider abortion as an option. After all, I was young, pretty and intelligent. I had my whole life ahead of me.
Adoption remains, even today, a very controversial issue, with people being for and against it, arguing whether it has a positive or negative impact. Whether people who want to adopt, especially single men/women have sincere wishes to do good and help the children and themselves, making their lives a little brighter and much happier, bearing in mind that children put for adoption are usually abandoned and neglected ones or have lost their biological parents, or if single parent adoption should not be allowed, mostly due to the fact that it would provide the children with what is considered as an unstable environment to grow up in.
The choice between adoption and abortion changes millions of lives every day. Some advocates of abortion feel if the mother of the child thinks that she will not be a good parent or thinks she will harm the child, that she has the right to abort the child. Abortion is a life changing decision and has the reputation of being an easy way out of an unwanted pregnancy. Adoption, on the other hand, is one way for a woman who is not prepared to be a parent to provide her child the best life possible without being involved in the child’s life. According to national estimates, one million children in the United States live with adoptive parents and from 2% to 4% of American families include an adopted
400,000; That is the unbearably large number of how many chor a permanent home in the United States alone. Roughly 29% of these kids will spend a ildren don’t have parents minimum of 3 years in foster care; hopping from one home to the next. Yearly, only about 135,000 kids are adopted in the U.S. With numbers being so low in adoption rates, and many couples hoping to find a beautiful child to make legally theirs, we ask ourselves, how is this possible? It takes months to years for an adoption process to be fulfilled completely. Adoption should be a cheaper, easier and quicker process to complete because those children need a home to reside in.
If one family in every three churches in the United States adopted a child, every child in need of a family in the United States would be adopted. Adoption is a process where a person takes over the role of a parent to ensure safety and rights of any living objects. Around 1970, adoptions were rare regardless of their popularity, in fact, divorce was more common. (Uoregon.edu) In recent years, adoption has been a huge benefit for thousands in need of a parent. However, in Tennessee, there are 8,146 children in foster care and 400 available for adoption. (AdoptUsKids.org). There are several factors to consider when adopting a child, which include; cost, eligibility, and risks.
